PRODUCT SAFETY

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  1. WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

  2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put the Base of the appliance, USB Adapter, USB Cable, or Battery, in water, or other liquid.

  3. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  4. Do not use appliance on wet surfaces. Do not expose to rain, store indoors.

  5. Do not allow the Cordless Hand Vacuum to be used as a toy.
    Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

  6. Keep hair, loose clothing, and fingers away from openings and moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in internal moving parts.

  7. Use this product only for its intended use and with the attachments recommended in this manual.

  8. Do not use a damaged cord or USB adapter. If the appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, dropped in water, damaged, left outdoors, return it to a service center.

  9. The use of attachments/accessories not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock or injury. This will ensure that the safety of the appliance and accessories is maintained.

  10. Do not handle USB adapter or appliance with wet hands.

  11. Do not put any object into openings.

  12. Do not use the Cordless Hand Vacuum with any openings blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.

  13. Do not use the Cordless Hand Vacuum to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

  14. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

  15. Do not use the Cordless Hand Vacuum without a cup and/or filters in place.

  16. Disconnect the Battery from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or when storing the appliance. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of accidentally turning ON the appliance.

  17. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to the Battery, picking up or carrying the appliance.

  18. Recharge only with the charger specified by KitchenAid. A charger that is suitable for one type of Battery may create a risk of fire when used with another Battery.

  19. Use appliances only with KitchenAid 12 V Battery. Use of any other Battery may create a risk of injury and fire.

  20. When the Battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the Battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

  21. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the Battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the Battery may cause irritation or burns.

  22. Do not use a Battery or appliance that is damaged or modified.
    Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.

  23. Do not expose a Battery or appliance to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265°F may cause an explosion.

  24. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the Battery or appliance outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the Battery and increase the
    risk of fire.

  25. Use only UL listed ITE/Class 2 USB sources to charge this device. Use of any non-UL listed USB sources may create a risk of fire.

  26. Never service damaged Battery. Service of Battery should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.

  27. Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

  28. Do not pull or carry by the cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

  29. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

  30. Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or Battery.

NOTE: If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
NOTE: Do not use, store Battery packs or products in locations where the temperature is less than 50°F or more than 104°F.

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY OPERATED PRODUCT DISPOSAL

Always dispose the Battery operated products according to federal, state, and local regulations. Contact a recycling agency in your area for recycling locations.

GETTING STARTED

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Charge the Battery until it is fully charged.
  2. Clean all the parts (see “Care and Cleaning” section).
  3. Remove all packaging materials, if present.
    NOTE : Some dust may be on the product. This is due to the recycled materials used in packaging. This can be cleaned with a soft towel.

BATTERY CHARGING

USING THE USB CABLE

  1. Attach the USB cable to the adapter. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the Battery.
  2. Plug the Adapter into a power source.

USING THE DOCKING STATION (OPTIONAL)

  1. Attach the USB cord to the adapter.
  2. Connect the adapter to the power source.
  3. Turn the Battery pack upside down and slide the Battery onto the dock.
  4. Press down the Battery and the latch will snap into place.
  5. Upon initial plugging in the Battery into the charger, the Battery LEDs will alternate for a few seconds as it performs a self-diagnostic of the Battery status.
  6. After diagnostic is complete, the Battery will begin charging with a single LED flashing.

LEDs will become solid in color as charging progresses. Battery is fully charged when all LEDs are solid.
NOTE : Should initial alternating light pattern continue for more than 10 seconds, the Battery may be too warm or too cold to charge. Unplug Battery and allow it to stabilize to a normal room temperature and try charging again. Should Battery still not charge after this, unplug Battery and contact customer service.

NOTE : When the Battery is installed or when the appliance is operated, the Battery charge status LEDs will display for 5 seconds and then turn off. If the Battery charge is 10% or less, the LEDs will continue to flash until the unit is no longer in use or the Battery is removed.
Full Charge: The Battery will be fully charged approximately in 3 hours.
NOTE : The Cordless Hand Vacuum will clean floor, countertop or drawers when following the recommended Battery maintenance.
NOTE : It is best to store the Cordless Hand Vacuum at room temperature.

PRODUCT USAGE

IMPORTANT : Make sure the Battery is charged before using.

  1. Make sure that the Power button is off before attaching the Battery.
  2. Insert the Battery on the Battery slot located underneath of the appliance, making sure it is aligned. The LED will light and display the Battery level for five seconds, then turn off.
  3. Attach either the crevice tool or the wide angle tool for cleaning.
  4. Press the button to turn the unit on at a normal speed.
  5. Press and hold the Boost button to active Boost function.
  6. Release to go back to normal speed.
  7. Press the button again to turn the unit off.

NOTE : While the unit is off, press and hold the button to turn the Cordless Hand Vacuum ON at Boost speed.
NOTE : Only use the Cordless Hand Vacuum on dry items. Do not use the vacuum to clean wet messes.
NOTE : The Cordless Vacuum is not intended to clean fine powders. Fine powder quickly clogs filter leading to performance loss. If performance loss occurs, inspect and clean filter.

CARE AND CLEANING

IMPORTANT : Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance. Remove the Battery before removing or attaching parts, or before cleaning.
To empty the Dirt Cup and clean the filter:

  1. Remove the Battery.
  2. Rotate to unlock and remove the Dirt Cup to empty.
  3. Pull out the filter and screen. Clean by rinsing under warm water until it is clear. Allow to air dry for at least 24 hours before using again.
  4. Empty the debris from the Dirt Cup into a trash can.
  5. Reinstall the filter and place the Dirt Cup back into place until it clicks.

LIMITED WARRANTY AND SERVICE

KITCHENAID™™ PRODUCT WARRANTY FOR THE 50 UNITED STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, PUERTO RICO, AND CANADA
This limited warranty extends to the original purchaser and any succeeding owner for the product operated in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
Length of Warranty: One Year Limited Warranty from date of delivery.

  1. KitchenAid Will Pay for Your Choice of: Hassle-Free Replacement of your product. See the next page for details on how to arrange for service, or call the Customer eXperience Center toll-free at 1-800-541-6390.

    The replacement parts and repair labor costs to correct defects in materials and workmanship that existed at the time this product was purchased. Service will be provided by an Authorized KitchenAid Service Center.

  2. KitchenAid Will Not Pay for (What is Not Covered By This Limited Warranty):
    a) Commercial, non-residential, or multiple family use or use inconsistent with product instructions and manuals.
    b) Defects or damage resulting from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, fire flood, or acts of God.
    c) Any shipping or handling costs to deliver your product to an Authorized Service Center.
    d) Replacement parts or repair labor costs for the product operated outside the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
    e) Damages, defects, or repairs caused by unauthorized servicers or use of non-genuine or third-party parts; however, use of unauthorized service providers or non-genuine or third-party parts will not void this warranty.
    f) Cosmetic damage (e.g., scratches, dents, chips, and other damage to finishes), unless damage results from defects in materials and workmanship and is reported to KitchenAid within 30 days from date of delivery.
    g) Discoloration, rust or oxidation of surfaces resulting from caustic or corrosive environments (e.g., high salt concentrations, high moisture or humidity or exposure to chemicals).
    h) Products with original, factory-installed model/serial numbers removed, altered or not easily determined.
    i) Incidental or consequential damages resulting from product failure.
    j) Consumable parts or accessories.

  3. DISCLAIMER OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES
    Implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability or implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to ten years or the shortest period allowed by law. Some states and provinces do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties of merchantability or fitness, so this limitation may not apply to you.

  4. HOW STATE LAW APPLIES
    This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state or province to province. Some states and provinces, such as California, do not allow for limitations on the date your warranty coverage begins,
    so this limitation may not apply to you.

We’re so confident the quality of our products meets the exacting standards of KitchenAid that, if your product should fail within the first year of ownership due to defects in materials or workmanship, KitchenAid will arrange to deliver an identical or  omparable
replacement to your door free of charge and arrange to have your original product returned to us. Your replacement unit will also be covered by our one year limited warranty. Please follow these instructions to receive this quality service. If your product should fail within the first year of ownership, simply call our toll-free Customer eXperience Center at 1-800-541-6390 Monday through Friday.
Please have your original sales receipt available when you call. Proof of purchase will be required to initiate the claim. Give the consultant your complete shipping address (no P.O. Box numbers, please). When you receive your replacement product, use the
carton and packing materials to pack up your original product.

If your product should fail within the first year of ownership, take the product or ship collect to an Authorized KitchenAid Service Center. In the carton include your name and complete shipping address along with a copy of the proof of purchase (register receipt,
