LED Smart WiFi Dimmer Switch Installation Guide

WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS

  • Risk of fire and electrical shock, products should be installed in accordance with appropriate electrical codes and regulations.
  • The product shall be used together with an upstream air-gap switch.
  • Turn power off at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before installing.
  • After the dimmer is installed, it is recommended to set the minimum brightness level to make bulbs turn on immediately and the dimmer with maximum dimming range.
  • If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a licensed electrician.
  • To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not install to control a receptacle, a motor-operated appliance or a transformer-supplied appliance.
  • Use with compatible dimmable LED, CFL bulbs, Incandescent or halogen bulbs only.
  • When multiple bulbs are used with one dimmer DO NOT mix bulb types. All bulbs shall be either LED, CFL or incandescent. Using the same model of each bulh will enhance dimmer performance

Status indictor

  • Indicator lights red : The load light is OFF and the App is not connected.
  • Indicator lights yellow: The load light is ON and the App is not connected
  • Indicator lights green : App is connected.
  • Indicator lights green and f lash :
    • EZ mode connection, status indicator lights green and flashes quickly (flash once every 2s);
    • AP mode connection, status indicator lights green and flashes slowly (flash once every 4s).
  • Short   press: within 0.5s;
  • Long press: over 0.5s;
  • Continuous short press: each interval of short press should within 1s.

On/off switch button

  • Turn on the light: Short Press ON/OFF button once when lights are off.
  • Turn off the light: Short Press ON/OFF button once when lights are on.
  • Quick to the Max. brightness : Continuous press ON/OFF button twice.
  • Set the Min. brightness: Turn on the lights and dim to the Min. brightness you desire, then continuous press ON/OFF button 6 times. Min. brightness setting has been completed.
  • Recover to the factory default Min. brightness : Turn on the lights, continuous press ON/OFF button 9 times.
  • Enter EZ network connection mode : Turn on the lights, continuous press ON/OFF button 5 times, status indicator will flash quickly(flash once every 2s), your device can connect to the dimmer. The load light will flash 1x once successfully connected. (The device will exit network connection mode after 3 minutes of inactivity.)
  • Enter to the AP network connection mod e: Turn on the lights, continuous press ON/OFF button 7 times, status indicator will flash slowly flash once every 45), your device can connect to the dimmer. The load light will flash 1x once successfully connected. (The device will exit network connection mode after 3 minutes of inactivity.)
  • Switch the wiring application: Continuous press ON/OFF button 8 times, if the load light flashes twice, it is switched to Single-Pole/3-way installation; if the load light flashes 3 times, switched to Multi-way install.
  • Recover to factory default : Turn on the light, continuous press ON/OFF button 10 times, the load lights will flash once.(Turn on the light: 1. will be at Max. brightness; 2. minimum brightness will be at 1%; 3. EZ network connection mode; 4. Single-pole/3-Way wiring application.)
  • Night light: Continuous press ON/OFF button 3 times, switching ON/OFF the night light function. Finish the operation: if multi-function indicator flash once, night light is de-activated; if multi-function indicator flash 3 times. night light is activated.

Brightness adjustment button

  • Brightness increase: When lights are on, short press the up button once to increase the brightness by one level.
  • Brightness decrease: When lights are on, short press the down button once to decrease the brightness by one level.
  • Brightness increases continuously: When lights are on, press and hold the up button to increase the brightness until desired brightness or reaches maximum brightness.
  • Brightness decrease continuously: When the light is on, press and hold the down button to decrease the brightness until desired brightness or reaches minimum brightness.

Power switch

  • Plug in the power switch to turn on the power;
  • Pull out the power switch to turn off the power. Multi-function indicator
  • Function 1: night light
  • Function 2: brightness level indicator for load lights

Installation and testing

Step 1

  • WARNING: To avoid fire and electrical shock, TURN OFF POWER at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.

Step 2

  • Removing existing switch: Remove existing wall plate and switch mounting screws. Carefully pull switch from wall box, identify and take out the wires attached to the switch, then remove the switch. DO NOT remove wires which are taken out from the switch at this time. (If new configuration skip this step)

Step 3

NOTE: f the wiring in the wall box does not resemble any of these configurations, consult an electrician.

  1. Line (Hot)
  2. Neutral
  3. Ground Load

IMPORTANT: For 3-Way applications, note that one of the screw terminals from the old switch being removed will usually be a different color (Black) or labeled Common. Tag that wire with electrical tape and identify as the common (Line or Load) in both the dimmer wall box and 3-way wall box.

Step 4a

  • Single-Pole Wiring Application
  • Connect the yellow and green dimmer wire to the green or bare copper ground wire in the wall-box, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Connect the black dimmer wire to the hot input wire removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Connect the white dimmer wire to the neutral wire, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Connect the red dimmer wire to the load wire removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Use remaining wire connector to cap the remaining brown wire of the dimmer.

Step 4b

  • 3-Way Wiring Application:

IMPORTANT: In a 3-way circuit, only one dimmer can be used.

  • Connect the yellow and green dimmer wire to the green or bare copper ground wire in the wall-box, and twist them with wire connector
  • Connect the black dimmer wire to the hot input wire with tag removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Connect the white dimmer wire to the neutral wire, and twist them with wire connector.
  • Connect the red dimmer wire, BRN dimmer wire to the remaining 3-way switch’s two wires removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.
    (Note: The red wire on the dimmer is connected to the load wire on the 3-wav Switch.)

NOTE:

  • Dimmer must always be connected to the side with electricity of the load to ensure normal work.
  • Multi-way self-reset switch can control up to 20pcs of dimmer for UP/DOWN dim and ON/OFF at the same time.
  • Two or more dimmers must not be connected in parallel or series to control the same load from two different locations.

NOTE:

  • Connect the yellow and green dimmer wire to the green or bare copper ground wire in the wall-box, and twist them with wire connector.

  • Connect the black dimmer wire to the hot input wire with tag removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.

  • Connect the white dimmer wire to the neutral wire, and twist them with wire connector.

  • Connect the red dimmer wire, brown dimmer wire to the remaining 3-way switch’s two wires removed from the switch, and twist them with wire connector.
    (Note: The red wire on the dimmer is connected to the load wire on the 3-way Switch.)

Step 5

  • Installing the dimmer
  • Carefully position all wires inside the wall-box, leaving enough room to insert the dimmer housing. Put the dimmer inside the wall-box.
  • Mount the dimmer securely inside the wall-box using the provided mounting screws.

    • Place the mounting frame over your installed dimmer and secure it using provided screws.
  • Cover the face plate over the installed mounting frame and gently push it to ensure flush fit.

Operation of On/off switch

  • Turn on the light: Press to turn on the light when it is off.
  • Turn off the light: Press to turn off the light when it is on. Table of the function in Multi-Way wiring

Operation of self-reset switch

  • Turn on the light: Press once to turn on the light when it is off.
  • Turn off the light: Press once to turn off the light when it is on.
  • Dimming: Press and hold to adjust the brightness of the light, pres. and hold again to change the direction of the brightness after release
  • Quick to the maximum brightness: Press the switch twice to dhimmi the light to the maximum brightness. Priority Dimmer/self-reset switch operation can terminate the phone App operation in the current period. When at dimmer/self-reset switch operation, the phone App operation cannot work.

Troubleshooting

Recommendations / Tips

  • Please check whether the light is connected with power, and your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi Network.
  • Check the router. If the router is dual-band, make sure to select 2.4GHz network to add the dimmer. Router Broadcast should be set to open.
  • Make sure the WiFi User Name and Password are correct.
  • Make sure the dimmer is within the range of the router signal. If not, try moving closer to the router/extender.
  • Check to see if the maximum number of devices the router can handle has been reached. If so, remove a device & restart the router.
  • If there is no connection, try restarting the light and/or restarting
  • If the internet connection is down, the light can still be controlled through your mobile device as long as both are connected to the same Network.

Mobile App Set-up
Step 1
Download the “Smart Life” App market, search “Smart Life”

  • Scan the QR code below to download the “Smart Life” App
  • You can also download this app in the Apple App store/Android app market, search “Smart Life”

Step 2
Register an account and Login

  • Open the “Smart Life” App, click Register to create an account & login.
  • If already registered, login.

Step 3
Connect the dimmer

  • Click ‘Add Device’ or the ‘+ in the top right-hand corner.
  • Click’ Electrical then to enter the device connection interface;

Step 4

  • Mobile phone connection

Step 4a

  • EZ mode connection:

When the light is on, short press the switch 5 times(each interval within 1s),to enter EZ mode connection. Status indicator lights green & flashes quickly(flash once every 2s),your device can connect to the dimmer. Load light will flash once when connection is successful. If there is no connection, device will exit network configuration mode after 3 min.

  • * Confirm the Status indicator flashes quickly, click 
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password in your home and click waiting for the connection.

Step 4b

  • AP mode connection:

When the light is on, short press the switch 7 times(each interval within 1s), to enter the mode connection. Status indicator lights green & flash slowly (flash once every 4s), your device can connect to the dimmer. The load light will flash once when connection is successful. If there is no connection, device will exit network configuration mode after 3 min.

  • * Click ‘AP Mode’ to enter the operation interface.
    • Confirm the Status indicator flashes slowly, click
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password in your home and click
    • Click Go to Corned connect to the Wi-Fi that comes with the dimmer and return waiting for the
  • Click Edit button next to the device name to change the name.

  • Click to enter the operation interface.

Mobile App Operation

  • Click  to control the light on/off function of the dimmer.

  • Click  to enter the interface for dimming the light.

  • Select the bulb type that is connected with the dimmer.

  • Set the lowest brightness of the light and save.

  • Click  to schedule(s) the light on/off function of the dimmer.

  • Add schedule and then save.

  • Add additional schedules as desired.

  • Open the Alexa app and select “Skills” from the top menu
  • On the Skills page, search for Smart Life
  • Enable Smart Life in the Alexa App
  • Log in with your Smart Life Account (username & password)

Blue Tooth capability Instructions

  • When the smart lights’ internet connect was cut down, they can’t be controlled by app at the moment. But after 3~5mins, the smart lights will automatically switch to the Bluetooth control mode. At this time, you will still be able to control the product in a short distance through your mobile phone’s Bluetooth.

Note:

  1. Make sure your phone has turned on the Bluetooth switch.
  2.  The product has been paired in your mobile phone and has not been deleted from the app.
  3. Keep your mobile phone connected to the internet

Device Sharing

  • After the dimmer connection is completed, it can be shared to many people, that is, one dimmer can be controlled by multiple users.
  • Click _ to enter the device details interface.
  • Click ‘Share Device’ to enter the device sharing interface
  • You may also share all devices in your account with another account
  • Go to “Me” at the bottom of the App • Select “Home Management”
  • Select the Home you wish to share with
  • Select “Add Member”. You can send the invite via your Smart Life account, Message, or Email. New Members must have or create a Smart Life account via the Smart Life Apt

Trouble-Shooting / Recommendations / Tips

  • If the light is offline in the App, make sure the in-wall switch is in the On position.
  • If not, turn on.
  • Please check whether the light is connected with power, and your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi Network.
  • Check the router. If the router is dual-band, make sure to select 2.4GHz network to add the light. Router Broadcast should be set to open. Also try disabling the 5GHz band temporarily on the router.
  • Make sure the WiFi User Name and Password are correct.
  • Make sure the light is within the range of the router signal. If not, try moving closer to the router. Check Wi-fi signal on the mobile device to make sure the signal is strong in that area or if it is weak.
  • Check to see if the maximum number of devices/lights the router can handle has been reached. If so, remove a device/light and restart the router. If there is no Wi-Fi connection, try restarting the light and/or restarting the router.
  • If the device will not go into pairing mode, try the on/off sequence 4 or 5 times instead of 3 times. Also give a second or 2 longer delay between the on/off sequence. If the internet signal/connection from the internet provider is down, the light can still be controlled through the mobile device as long as both are connected to the same Network (Intranet).
  • If the internet signal/connection is down from your router, this light has a backup Bluetooth function that will allow you to control the lights from a certain distance. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
