SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Do not use matches, lighters, or flame to check for leaks.
  • Do not use the appliance until leak testing is complete and any leaks are corrected.
  • Refer to the appliance’s owner’s manual for further leak test requirements.

LEAK TESTING

Before lighting your appliance, perform a leak check. Turn all control valves to “OFF”. Be sure the regulator is tightly connected to LP cylinder. Completely open the LP tank valve by turning it counterclockwise. If you hear a rushing sound, turn off gas immediately. There is a major leak at the connection. Correct before proceeding. Brush a mild soapy water solution to ALL appliance connections. Slowly open the cylinder valve and check for leaks. The appearance of “growing” bubbles indicates a leak. Repair any leaks prior to lighting your appliance. If you can not stop a leak by additional tightening of connectors, shut off the LP gas supply at the cylinder valve and have a licensed plumber, qualified LP service technician or certified gas fitter to make needed repairs.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Turn gas OFF at cylinder by turning cylinder valve handle fully clockwise.

  • Remove the old regulator from the cylinder by turning the connector nut counterclockwise by hand.
  • Using properly sized wrenches, remove the old regulator from the hose. DO NOT attempt to turn the hose when removing the regulator. Doing so will cause the hose to twist and kink, resulting in damage and gas leakage.

  • Open the included thread sealant packet and apply thread sealant to the 3/8″ male NPT threads ON THE CONNECTION FITTING ONLY. Sealant should be uniformly applied and should coat all exposed threads. It is not necessary to apply thread sealant to the female threads on the regulator or Type-1 connector.
  • Remove the protective plastic plug from the regulator.
  • Install the regulator to the 3/8″ male NPT threaded hose fitting by turning it clockwise by hand. DO NOT cross thread the connection.
  • Tighten the regulator to the connection fitting using properly sized wrenches.

  • Position the black coupling nut to the cylinder valve outlet.
  • Connect the coupling nut to the large outside threads on the cylinder valve outlet by holding the regulator in one hand and inserting the nipple into the cylinder valve outlet.
  • Hand tighten the plastic coupling nut in a clockwise direction until the coupling nut comes to a full stop. DO NOT cross thread the connection.
  • NOTE: This regulator is equipped with a Type-1 appliance connection and requires a cylinder equipped with a valve marked for use with a Type 1 connection
