IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this product is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
When using the product, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of injury including the following:
DANGER
Risk of accidents! When installed with this product, the vehicle’s speed must
under no circumstances exceed 75 Mph (120 km/h). Always observe applicable
speed limits and other traffic regulations.
WARNING
Risk of damage! With the product installed with or without load, beware of the
increased height of the vehicle before driving into garages, closed parking
lots, under bridges, subways or tunnels. Otherwise, damage to property and/or
personal injury may result.
DANGER
Risk of accidents! The maximum dimensions for any vehicle, including its load,
are 8.2′ (2.5 m) in width and 14.1′ (4.3 m) in height. A vehicle fitted with a
bicycle carrier, along with any bicycles must not exceed these limits and take
into consideration the proportionality of the load to the vehicle size.
CAUTION
Risk of accidents or damage! Personal damages of property or lost of fortune
can result from incorrect mounting or use of the product. Always secure firmly
and mount correctly the product and the load.
Road Safety
CAUTION
Risk of accidents! Sudden brakes, abrupt starts and sharp turns must be
avoided as much as possible.
- The maximum speed of driving over speed bumps must not exceed 10 km/h.
- Off-road driving is not recommended with loads or accessories attached to the product.
- The vehicle’s driving characteristics and braking behavior change and its vulnerability to side wind increases when loads are carried on the product.
- When carrying loads on the product, the driving speed has to be adjusted according to outside conditions such as road surfaces, side winds, general traffic situations, etc. It is recommended to keep to the applicable speed limits for any road.
Product Safety
- Loads which overhang the ends of the carrier system shall conform to any relevant laws or by-laws in force, and shall be adequately secured.
- This product is designed such that with proper assembly, mounting and operation cause no damage to the vehicle.
- This product should be installed, maintained and operated only by an adult. If in doubt, consult a professional.
- Assembly must be carried out in accordance with the instructions.
- Keep children and pets away while assembling the product.
- Do not let children climb on or play with the product.
- Do not use this product if any parts are missing, damaged, or worn.
- Do not overtighten the fasteners.
- Never exceed the maximum load capacity of 165 lbs (75 kg).
- The loads must be secured against slipping using appropriate belts (not elastic belts/ bungees with or without hooks).
- The lock on the product must be secured during transport.
- All loose accessories or removable parts of the loads must be removed before loading onto this product.
- The loads must be distributed evenly, with the centre of gravity keeping as low as possible.
- No modification on the product is permitted.
- When carrying several surfboards, they must be placed on top of the other (but not beside each other).
- Skis must be carried with the pointed ends facing towards the rear of the vehicle.
- Some types of sunroof and radio antenna cannot be used when the product is fitted.
- Leaving the product on the vehicle can cause a drag in speed. To conserve fuel and for other road safety reasons, the product must be dismantled from the vehicle when not in use.
Inspection
- Before any journey, all screw connections, connections of the roof bars and other supports must be checked for firmness and tightness.
- This product and loads must be checked at suitable intervals – after 500 km at the latest – for firmness and tightness. Tighten the load’s securing straps whenever necessary.
- On bad terrain, a check on all connections (including screw connections) must be repeated at an interval of 2 hours of driving.
- Regularly examine the product for wear and tear. Stop using the product at first sign of damage or if parts become detached.
IMPORTANT, RETAIN FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: READ CAREFULLY
Before First Use
- Check the product for transport damages.
- Remove all the packing materials.
- Clean the vehicle roof and those parts of the product that come into the contact with the roof before installation.
- Before assembly, check for any special fitting positions from the vehicle’s assembly instructions, or required minimum distance between the load carrier bars.
DANGER
Risk of suffocation! Keep any packaging materials away from children – these
materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.
Cleaning and Maintenance
CAUTION
Risk of damage! Do not take the product through car wash.
Cleaning
- To clean the product, wipe with a soft, slightly moist cloth.
- Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the product.
Maintenance
- Regularly check that all the components and fasteners are tightened.
- The load carrier must always be cleaned and maintained, especially in winter.
- Store the product in a cool and dry place away from children and pets, ideally in its original packaging.
- When not in use, the product should be removed from the vehicle.
