IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Please read the operating instructions and familiarize yourself with the equipment before placing it in service. Correct and safe use of the equipment requires strict compliance with the safety instructions. For safety reasons persons less than 16 years of age or people that are not familiar with these instructions should not use this equipment.
- This appliance is a completely underwater pump for freshwater ornamental outdoor ponds. Any other use is prohibited, and, consequently not covered by the manufacturer’s liability.
- WARNING: Strictly adhere to the following warnings in order to prevent any type of accident. You should also observe basic safety provisions.
- CAUTION: This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance because this is not a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
WARNING : Disconnect all submerged electrical appliances in the pond
before carrying out installation and maintenance operations. The power cord
must not be repaired or replaced. If it is damaged, replace the entire pump
unit. This appliance must be plugged into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter
(GFCI) protected outlet. If the connection plug or the electric socket should
be wet, disconnect the master switch before pulling out the power power cable.
Check that the voltage given on the appliance label corresponds to the
electrical outlet voltage.
WARNING : To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only on portable
self-contained fountain.
- Before connecting the appliance to the electrical outlet, check that the cable and the appliance are not damaged in any way.
- The appliance power cable must form an appropriate loop, facing downwards (DRIP LOOP -Fig. 1, Page 3), to prevent any runoff water from coming into contact with the socket itself.
- Do not place the power cable underground, but follow the installation instructions prescribed by the local regulations in force, and consult a qualified installer and electrician.
- When installing the appliance, do not use the power cable to lift it.
- THE PUMP MUST BE USED INSIDE ITS HOUSING ONLY.
- Do not remove motor or impeller to use as standalone equipment.
- Before starting up the appliance, check that it has been correctly installed.
- Do not use or keep the appliance in an area subject to freezing. In winter, it is necessary to uninstall, drain and store the pump so that it is protected from freezing.
- The appliance must not be operated dry.
- Avoid using corrosive or abrasive liquids when operating these appliances.
- The maximum temperature for the circulating liquid must not exceed 95°F (35°C).
- The pump must be connected to a grounded socket.
- The pump can be submerged into water up to a maximum depth, (Fig. 1, Page 3).
PRODUCT SPECIFIC SAFEGUARDS
- WARNING: For FP2050 only (Fig. 2 on, Page 3 ). This appliance uses a particularly powerful magnet. Consequently the magnetic field that is produced out from the pump motor can cause malfunctioning or electronic or mechanical failures to other appliances. For this reason it is recommended to keep the magnet at least 12 inches (30cm) away from pace-makers, credit cards, cash-point cards, magnetic keys or others (check on the instructions manuals of the relative appliances). Also in this case it is recommended to keep the magnet at least 4 inches (10cm) far from any surface or metallic objects to avoid abrupt magnetic attraction.
- Additionally, in order to reduce risk of personal injury, be careful when adjusting the rotor-impeller during assembly and maintenance of the pump.
- WARNING : Risk of electric shock – this pump is supplied with a ground conductor and ground-type attachment plug. To reduce the risk of electric shock, be certain that it is connected only to a properly grounded, GFCI receptacle.
- CAUTION: This pump has been evaluated for use with fresh water only.
INSTALLATION
- The PondMAX® FP Series pump can operate in or out of water (detailed Fig. 3 and 4, Page 4).
- The pump is equipped with two multistage threaded hose-tail adaptor, which allow the pump to be connected to hard pipe or flexible hose of various diameters (Fig. 5, Page 4).
- The PondMAX® FP Series Pump FP1150/1550/2050: The volute can be angled at 90° in order to use the pump as required (Fig. 14 and 15, Page 5). For this operation, carefully read the assembly instructions and follow the illustrations from, Page 5 to 7.
MAINTENANCE
- Rotating parts need to be regularly accessed for cleaning. To this purpose it is recommended to not use any chemical detergents. FP550/750: follow the instructions on, Page 5. Unfasten the screws, remove the volute, and take out the rotor and proceed with cleaning.
- FP1150/1550: follow the instructions on, Page 6. Unfasten the screws, remove the volute, and take out the rotor and proceed with cleaning.
- FP2050: follow the instructions on, Page 6. After having carefully positioned the pump on the rear cover, remove the screws.
- Keep the impeller disc attached to the pump motor unit, using one of the free eye bolts. Remove the volute by pushing the outlet pipe towards the work surface (Fig. 8, Page 6). Take out the rotor with the impeller and proceed with cleaning.
- Replace all parts in reverse order: re-introduce the volute in its seating, ensuring that the bushing is positioned correctly on the bottom of the well. When re-inserting the rotor, pay attention to its magnetic power in order to avoid any damage and injury to the fingers.
- FP1150/1550/2050: Turn the impeller disk, paying attention to follow the reference marks placed on the impeller and on motor body of the pump (Fig. 13, Page 6). Screw the volute back onto the pump, choosing the required position.
- FP2050: Place the volute making sure that the screw lodging is not next to the fastening eyelets. Rotate it clock-wise until the stop, then insert the screws and screw to fasten it (Fig. 17, Page 7).
- Put the pump back into the housing, inserting it into the special slides positioned inside. Close the pump with the remaining housing and fasten the screws.
- ATTENTION: The rotor is provided with a ceramic shaft, that is wear-resistant, but fragile. Pay utmost attention during maintenance operations.

The pump is provided with a self-resetting thermal protector.
If the pump stopped working, please investigate if the thermal cut-off has been activated by first disconnecting the appliance from the electrical supply for approximately 1 hour, then remedy the cause that made the appliance stop, and reconnect to the socket again.
FP1150/1550/2050
The pump is provided with SmartMAG® motor protection. If there is lack of water or the rotor is blocked the pump recognizes the problem and turns off and attempts to restart. After 10 restart attempts (FP1150/1550) or 5 restart attempts (FP2050) in the space of 1 minute, the pump turns off completely. In this case unplug the pump from the electrical
outlet and remove the cause of the problem. After adding water or clearing the blocked rotor plug the pump back in which will reset the SmartMAG® and the pump will resume working.

LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY

CMT Group LLC, a California limited liability company d/b/a PondMAX™ USA (the “Company”) expressly warrants to the original purchaser that, for a period of three (3) years from the date of sale, the covered product (the “Product”) will be reasonably free of defects in materials and workmanship and that when property handled, will conform, within accepted tolerance to applicable manufacturing specifications. This Limited Product Warranty
(“Limited Warranty”) only applies to Company’s Products that are used, stored, handled, and installed in the manner recommended by the Company in the Product instruction manual. -
Notwithstanding this Limited Warranty, customer acknowledges that some parts of the Product are consumable and may need to be replaced as part of ongoing Product maintenance, as recommended in the Product instruction manual, and are therefore not covered by this Limited Warranty.

Company will, at its option, repair or replace Product without charge, if the Product fails or does perform as warranted solely due to a manufacturing defect within the warranty period, subject to the exclusions set forth in this Limited Warranty.

Repair or replacement during this three (3) year warranty shall not include: reasonable labor charges necessary to repair or replace the defective Product, shipping costs, and packing and insurance costs. During the entire three (3) year warranty, Company’s obligation as to repair or replacement shall further be limited to repair or replacement with the models of the Product that are available at the time of the repair or replacement, and shall be limited to the repair or replacement of only the specific Product that fails due to a manufacturing defect. Any repaired or replaced Product shall also remain subject to the original three (3) year warranty from the date of the original sale, and any repair or replacement shall not extend the original warranty period in any manner or start a new warranty period.

You may obtain coverage under this Limited Warranty by providing Company with proof of original purchase. For service under this Limited Warranty, you must first contact the seller, distributor, retailer, or dealer from whom you purchased the Product and provide the following: copy of original receipt, your name and address, a description of the Product (including the serial number/date code set forth on the Product), and the nature of the defect. To expedite any warranty claims and processing, please submit to us the product registration card included with your purchased Product promptly after your purchase.

All warranty repairs must be performed by the Company, or a Company authorized third-party. Any repairs performed by you or an unauthorized third-party will not be compensated by Company and are not the responsibility of the Company and will void this warranty.

This Limited Warranty does not cover defects caused by: non-compliance with Company’s use guides, care guides, and/or instruction manual. Such failures include, but are not limited to, exposure to physical abuse, including, but not limited to chemical abuse (e.g. harsh cleansers and solvents), thermal abuse or shock (e.g. excessive heat or cold), incompatibility of fluid used near the Product, or misuse; improper storage, installation, handling, and/or use of the Product; damage not resulting from manufacturing defects that occur while the Product is in the customer’s possession; unreasonable or unintended use of Product; products installed with known or visible manufacturing defects at the time of installation; minor conditions such as stains, scratches, etc.

Any information or suggestion by Company with respect to the Products concerning applications, specifications, or compliance with codes and standards is provided solely for your convenient reference and are made without any representation as to accuracy or suitability. You must verify and test the suitability of any information with respect to the Products for your specific application.

All provisions of this Limited Warranty are severable and if any provision
shall be deemed invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force
