Product Information
The product mentioned in the user manual is the X4, a tuning device provided by SCT Flash. It is used for programming vehicle tunes and making adjustments to performance levels and vehicle characteristics.
- The X4 comes with an ECU connector and an OBDII cable for connecting to the vehicle’s ECU and the SCT Box. It also includes battery clamps for connecting to the vehicle’s battery.
- The X4 supports custom tune files and preloaded tune files, allowing users to program their vehicles according to their preferences and needs.

Product Usage Instructions
Setup:
- Ensure the vehicle is turned off and parked safely.
- Fully open the hood and secure it.
- Locate the ECU on the firewall on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
- Release the locking tab before moving the gray connector arm and disconnect all 3 ECU connectors.
- Connect the provided ECU connector to connection 1 on the ECU and to the SCT Box.
- Connect the X4 to the SCT box using the OBDII cable.
- Connect the SCT box to the battery using the provided battery clamps (Red to positive, black to negative).
Loading Your Custom Tune:
- Make sure you have completed the setup steps mentioned above.
- Select “PROGRAM VEHICLE” on the X4.
- Review and accept the STREET USE NOTICE.
- Select the desired Custom Tune file to program.
- If it’s your first flash, you will see “SAVING STOCK DATA”. This is normal.
- The X4 will now program the custom tune file. Once complete, reconnect the ECU by disconnecting the battery clamps and reconnecting all 3 ECU connections.
Using Vehicle Functions on Your X4:
Note : Some functions may not be available for all applications. Contact the Sales Team for assistance if unsure.
There are different processes depending on the year of your vehicle to apply changes to your tune.
For Preloads:
Preloads must be flashed while connected to the ECM under the hood.
- Make sure you have completed the setup steps mentioned above.
- Select “PROGRAM VEHICLE” on the X4.
- Review and accept the STREET USE NOTICE.
- The device will show a selection of vehicles and engine sizes. Select yours.
- This will take you to Adjustable Options where you can adjust performance levels and vehicle characteristics, axle ratio, and tire size.
- Select “Continue” to flash the vehicle.
Returning Your Vehicle to Stock:
- Make sure the device is set up using the setup steps mentioned above.
- Select “PROGRAM VEHICLE” on the X4.
- Review and accept the Street Use Notice and press “RETURN TO STOCK”.
- Confirm “Return to Stock”.
- The X4 will now program in the stock file.
- When complete, reconnect the ECU.
Using LiveLink Gen-II / Advantage III:
To use LiveLink or Advantage III with the 2021-2022 F-150, make sure to
update to the current release version, including any outstanding database
updates. For LiveLink Gen-II, use Version 2.9.4.0 or newer, including any
outstanding database updates. For Advantage III, use Version 3.4 Build 22305.0
or newer.

SETUP
- Ensure vehicle is turned off and parked safely.
- Fully open the hood and ensure it is secured.
- Locate the ECU on the firewall on the passenger’s side of the vehicle (see green arrow below).
- Be sure to release the locking tab (green arrow below) before moving gray connector arm. Disconnect all 3 of the ECU connectors.
- Note : You MUST disconnect ALL 3 connectors anytime you are installing or uninstalling your tune.
- Connect the ECU connector provided with the X4 to connection 1 on the ECU as show above and to the SCT Box.
- Connect the X4 to the SCT box using the OBDII cable,
- Connect the SCT box to the battery using the battery clamps provided. Battery Clamps Install: Red to positive, black to negative.
LOADING YOUR CUSTOM TUNE
- Be sure you have completed the setup steps on Page 1 & 2.
- On the X4 select PROGRAM VEHICLE.
- Review and accept the STREET USE NOTICE.
- Select which Custom Tune file you want to program.
- If this is your first flash, you will see SAVING STOCK DATA. This is normal.
- The X4 will now program in the custom tune file. When complete, reconnect the ECU by disconnecting the battery clamps and reconnecting all 3 ECU connections.
HOW TO USE VEHICLE FUNCTIONS ON YOUR X4
Special Functions
These functions are not available for all applications. If you are unsure if
your vehicle supports this function, you can chat with our Sales Team using
the “Contact Support” button below. There are 2 different processes to apply
these changes to your tune depending on the year of your vehicle.
- User Adjustable Options
- During the install process, you will get an option for “User Adjustable Options” where you can define changes to your tune that are available.
- If you do not see the option for Tire Size or TPMS functions then proceed to the 2nd process below.
- Special Functions
- Install your desired tune into your vehicle from your device
- From the main menu, select “Vehicle Functions”
- Choose your function and press “apply”
PRELOADS:
Preloads must be flashed while connected to the ECM while under the hood.
USING PRE-LOADED TUNE FILES
- Be sure you have completed the setup steps on Page 1 & 2.
- On the X4 select PROGRAM VEHICLE.
- Review and accept the STREET USE NOTICE.
- The device will show you a selection of vehicles and engine sizes. Select yours here.
- This will take you to Adjustable Options where you will be able to adjust to different performance levels, vehicle characteristics.
- Axle ratio and Tire size found in Special Functions options.
- Select Continue to flash the vehicle.
RETURNING YOUR VEHICLE TO STOCK:
Return to stock
- Be sure to have the device setup using the steps above.
- On the X4 select PROGRAM VEHICLE.
- Review and accept the Street Use Notice and press RETURN TO STOCK.
- Confirm Return to Stock.
- The X4 will now program in the stock file.
- When complete, reconnect the ECU.
LIVELINK GEN-II / ADVANTAGE III
To use LiveLink or Advantage III with the 2021-2022 F-150 please update to the current release version including any outstanding database update.
- LIVELINK GEN-II: Version 2.9.4.0 or newer, including any outstanding database updates.
- ADVANTAGE 3: Version 3.4 Build 22305.0 or newer.
