Product Information

The product being referred to in the user manual is the Base Stations of a Virtual Reality Kit (VR Kit). The Base Stations are precision electronic devices that emit radio waves and require proper handling and care to ensure optimal performance and prevent hazards. The user manual advises users to refer to the manufacturer’s user documentation for full system instructions and safety information.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Locate the Base Stations outside of the play area, ensuring they are far enough that players will not strike them. Any drops, bumps, or other contact with the Base Stations may negatively affect their performance.
  2. Use only the Base Station power supply that comes with your VR Kit. The power supply has a unique adapter designed to fit in the Base Station. Using other power supplies may pose electrical or fire hazards.
  3. Safely route electrical cords away from the play area or any area that could lead to tripping or entanglement.
  4. Keep the Base Stations dry and away from liquids. Exposing the Base Station power supplies to liquid could create a shock hazard. If cleaning is necessary, unplug the Base Stations and use a lightly moistened cloth. Avoid using cleaning chemicals as they may damage the Base Stations.
  5. If operating the Base Stations in an area with high humidity, moisture may collect inside them, causing incorrect operation. In such cases, stop using the Base Stations until the moisture evaporates.
  6. Do not attempt to open or service the Base Stations. Contact the manufacturer of your VR Kit for assistance if there is a problem.
  7. Each Base Station contains radio-emitting technology that may interfere with nearby electronic devices. To avoid interference, do not operate the Base Stations around critical electronic equipment. If you have implanted electronic devices such as a pacemaker, consult your doctor before using the Base Stations to ensure they will not be impacted by the emitted radio waves.
  8. Properly dispose of waste electronic equipment. Do not mix used electrical and electronic products with general household waste. In the European Union, take the product(s) to designated collection points for proper treatment, recovery, and recycling, free of charge.

The health and safety warnings in this guide are periodically updated for accuracy and completeness Check www.vive.com for the latest version.

Follow these instructions for use and care of the Base Stations to reduce the risk of tripping, entanglement, or colliding with the Base Stations and electrical and fire hazards. Additionally, read the user documentation provided by the manufacturer of your Virtual Reality Kit (“VR Kit”) for full system instructions and safety information.

Use and care

  1. Locate Base Stations outside of the play area, far enough that a player will not strike them. The Base Stations are precision electronic devices and
drops, bumps or other contact may negatively affect performance.

  2. Use only the Base Station power supply accompanying your VR Kit. The power supply has a unique adapter designed to fit in the Base Station. Other power supplies that are not designed to work with the Base Station may pose an electrical or fire hazard.

  3. Safely route electrical cords, so they are clear of the play area or any area that may lead to tripping or entanglement with the cords.

  4. Base Station care and cleaning. Keep the Base Stations dry and away from liquids. Exposing the Base Station power supplies to liquid could create a shock hazard. If you need to clean the Base Stations, unplug, then use a lightly moistened cloth. Do not use cleaning chemicals; these may damage the Base Stations.

  5. Humidity. If you operate the Base Stations in an area with high humidity, moisture may collect in the Base Stations causing them to operate incorrectly. If that occurs, stop using the Base Stations until the moisture evaporates.

  6. Do not attempt to open or service the Base Stations. Contact the manufacturer of your VR Kit if there is a problem.

  7. Radio Frequency and potential medical device interference.

    • Each Base Station contains radio-emitting technology that may interfere with the normal operation of nearby electronic devices. It uses a 2.4GHz BLUETOOTH® -band radio with GFSK modulation and custom low-latency protocol. While it has been tested for non-interference with common devices, do not operate around critical electronic equipment (e.g. in hospitals).
    • Consult your doctor prior to using the Base Stations if you have implanted electronic devices (e.g. pacemaker) to confirm that these devices will not be impacted. Do not use the Base Stations if your medical device will be affected by the emitted radio waves.
