REFERENCE AUDIO MONITORING SYSTEM 1000
USER’S MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing the R.A.M 1000. After many years designing monitor
controllers, Heritage Audio is proud to present the R.A.M System 1000.
Combining several features from our top-of-the-line units with the robust
build and inviting appearance of the rest of our R.A.M series units, the new
addition is very attractive. And at a very affordable price that even the most
modest studios will be able to justify.
Designed with the modern musician/producer in mind, the R.A.M 1000 includes a
few new features to keep your studio up to date. Bluetooth reception has
become just about essential in any modern-day studio environment and is easily
used here. Play along with your mixes and rehearse them until you are
content…then with a simple push of a button you can send your instrument on to
your DAW interface to record the track. Taking control of your home studio or
control room couldn’t be easier.

BLUETOOTH SYNCHRONIZING
Synchronizing your mobile device with the R.A.M 1000 is as simple as pairing
any other Bluetooth device. It will appear as “HERITAGE R.A.M 1000” on your
Bluetooth devices’ list.
YouTube hosts nice tutorials about how to do so in both Android and iOS if you
need help.
The R.A.M 1000 automatically selects the best Codec supported by your mobile
device, so no configuration is needed.
Whenever a device is paired with the R.A.M 1000, the “SYNC” LED will light.
Active streaming is confirmed by corresponding Codec LED being turned on.
Please note Codec IS NOT configurable. It is automatically chosen from the best
available option on your mobile device.
Devices can only be paired one at a time. Whenever a different device needs to
be paired, Bluetooth needs to be reset, so RESET button must be pressed down
and hold for 10 seconds after connecting a new Bluetooth mobile device.
LET’S GET TECHNICAL
INPUTS: The R.A.M SYSTEM 1000 has two pairs of +4 dBu balanced analog
inputs with one also being -10 dBV selectable. It also includes a very
convenient Bluetooth option as an additional input. The Bluetooth input will
automatically choose the best CODEC available for your device to insure the
highest quality at all times. A simple RESET button will allow you to change
the input source for Bluetooth at any time. All inputs are simultaneusly
selectable.
OUTPUTS: The R.A.M SYSTEM 1000 has two stereo outputs, available on both
balanced XLR and ¼″ jack connections. All inputs are also simultaneusly
selectable.
HEADPHONE OUTPUT: Usually a weak link even in the most expensive units,
the R.A.M SYSTEM 1000 employs a very high current driver in a diamond buffer
configuration which is able to drive all headphones to very high levels without
any coloration or noise.
THE REC/MON FUNCTION: There is an extra button on the back just below
Output 1 that allows you to choose between two ways of operation. One way,
with the button pushed in (MON) or MONITOR mode, Output 1 will simply act as
normal, just like the other Output, number 2, and will follow any changes made
to the volume knob. But, if you leave the button released (REC) it will be in
RECORD mode and the main red volume knob will have no affect on its output
level. This is very convenient if you want to send a signal on to your
interface for recording while monitoring the playback of your DAW, allowing
you to adjust the appropriate level between them.
MASTER LEVEL CONTROL KNOB: The R.A.M SYSTEM 1000 is fitted with a 64-step,
gold-plated relay ladder attenuation for master level control — a feature
usually found only on high-end large-format consoles.
It gives an exceptional resolution of 64 dB of attenuation in 3 dB steps.
Keeping active electronics to a minimum, the attenuator is buffered for
negligible coloration and no noise.
The DIM, a minus 20 dB drop, the MUTE and the MONO buttons complete the
feature list to make sure you have the necessary options at hand.
