Vinyl and Rubber Stair Treads and Nosings

INSTALLATION OF VINYL STAIR TREADS – INDOOR USE

  • Substrate must be clean, flat, dry, smooth and structurally sound.
  • Remove any foreign materials i.e. Paint, Grease, Dust, etc.
  • Vinyl stair treads must be stored flat and allowed to acclimate in a controlled environment for a minimum 48 hours prior to installation.
  • Area to receive Vinyl Stair Tread must be between 65° – 85°F 48 hours prior to installation and 48 hours after adhesive has cured.
  • Cut vinyl stair treads to fit stair tread making sure they are not cut too tight. Leave 1/16” gap around all edges for expansion.

ADHESIVE RECOMMENDATIONS

Use an adhesive that is specifically designed for use with vinyl and rubber stair treads and nosings.
Epoxy must be applied to the inside of vinyl stair tread nosings during installation to support nosings during use. The nosing must be filled with a minimum of a 1/4″ bead.
Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s installation requirements and recommendations.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Stairs must be protected from traffic until adhesive has cured.
  • Protect Stair treads from damage during and after installation.
  • Protect Stair treads from Sunlight during installation and until adhesive has cured to avoid expansion.
  • Area should never fall below 55°F.
  • Prior to installation, Stair Treads must be stored flat to avoid any warpage.
  • Vinyl stair treads must be inspected prior to installation for defects, color, size.
