Safety instructions

WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data in the ROLLER operating instructions for use of the ROLLER battery, the ROLLER rapid charger and the ROLLER power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to electric shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

  • Only use the ROLLER battery in ROLLER power tools. Only then is the battery safe from dangerous overloading.
  • Only use original ROLLER batteries with the voltage specified on the rating plate. Using other batteries can lead to injuries and risk of fi re due to exploding batteries.
  • Use the battery and the rapid charger only in the specified operating temperature range.
  • Only recharge ROLLER batteries in the ROLLER rapid charger. There is a risk of fi re if an unsuitable battery charger is used.
  • Only use the ROLLER rapid charger for charging ROLLER batteries. There is a risk of fi re with unsuitable batteries.
  • Charge the ROLLER battery to full capacity in the ROLLER rapid charger to get full battery power before using for the fi rst time. Batteries are delivered partly charged.
  • Never charge batteries unattended. Battery chargers and batteries can cause hazards which lead to material damage and/or injury when charged unattended.
  • Insert the battery into the battery compartment straight and without force. There is a risk of bending the battery contacts and damaging the battery.
  • Protect the batteries against heat, sunlight, fi re, moisture and wet. There is a risk of explosion and fi re.
  • Do not use the batteries in areas where there is a risk of explosion and in the vicinity of inflammable gases, solvents, dust, fumes, liquids for example. There is a risk of explosion and fi re.
  • Do not open the battery or modify its construction. There is a risk of explosion and fi re due to short-circuiting.
  • Damage to or improper use of the battery can cause fumes to escape. The fumes can irritate the respiratory tracts. Let in fresh air and consult a doctor in case of symptoms.
  • Fluid can leak from the battery when used improperly. Do not touch the fluid. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation and burns. Rinse off immediately with water in case of contact. Also consult a doctor if the fluid gets into the eyes.
  • Observe the safety instructions on the battery and the rapid charger.
  • Keep unused batteries away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects which could cause bridging of the contacts. There is a risk of explosion and fi re due to short-circuiting.
  • Remove the battery before stowing/storing the power tool for long periods of time. Protect the battery contacts against short-circuiting, e.g. with a cap. This reduces the risk of fluids escaping from the batteries.
  • Do not throw defective batteries in the normal household waste. Hand over damaged batteries only in the discharged state or, if the batteries are not completely discharged, with the contacts covered with insulating tape to a ROLLER contract customer service workshop or a recognized disposal company. Observe the national regulations.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. Batteries can be life threatening if swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.
  • Avoid contact with leaking batteries. Leaking fluid can cause skin irritation and burns. Rinse off immediately with water in case of contact. Also consult a doctor if the fluid gets into the eyes.
  • Remove the battery from the power tool when you have finished the work. This reduces the risk of fluids escaping from the batteries.
  • Observe the valid transport regulations when transporting lithium-ion batteries. Damaged or defective lithium-ion batteries are subject to special transport regulations and may not be transported under certain circumstances. Lithium-ion batteries are classified in international transport law as “hazardous goods” for commercial shipment. Observe the national regulations.
  • Never charge primary batteries (non-rechargeable), never dismantled them, never throw them onto a fi re and never create a short-circuit. The batteries can cause fi res and burst. There is a risk of injury.
  • Keep the rapid charger/power supply unit clean. Dirt can lead to the risk of an electric shock.
  • Do not use the rapid charger on a highly inflammable surface (e.g. Paper, textiles, etc.) or in an inflammable environment. Danger of fi re due to heating up during charging.
  • Do not obstruct the air vents in the rapid charger. The rapid charger could otherwise overheat and no longer work properly. There is a danger of fi re.
  • Make sure that no dirt and no electrically conductive particles such as metal chips get into the rapid charger through the air vents. This can cause material damage or injury. There is a danger of electric shock.
  • The rapid charger/power supply unit is not intended for use by children and persons with restricted physical, sensory or mental disabilities or lack of experience and knowledge. This rapid charger/power supply unit can be used by children of 8 years and older and persons with restricted physical, sensory and mental disabilities when supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they have been instructed in the safe handling of the rapid charger/power supply unit by this person and understand the potential dangers. Otherwise there is a risk of operating errors and injuries.
  • Supervise children during use, cleaning and maintenance. This ensures that children do not play with the battery/the rapid charger/the power supply unit.
  • Only use the power tool when you are aware of all its functions and are able to operate them without restrictions or have received appropriate instructions.
  • Only use the ROLLER battery/ROLLER rapid charger/ROLLER power supply unit in the specified, permissible power range. This reduces the risk of material damage and injury.
  • Protect the contacts of the rapid charger/power supply unit against bridging by metal objects. There is a risk of fi re due to short-circuiting.
