LG Multi-V 5 ARUM096BTE5 Air Conditioner
Product Information
The Multi V 5 is a product with a heat exchanger structure that has undergone a change in its piping structure. This change was made to prevent potential leaks caused by pipe vibration at the connection to the coil. The affected product models are: Multi V 5 UXB 220V ARUM096BTE5, ARUM121BTE5 and 460V ARUM096DTE5, ARUM121DTE5. The change in structure applies to products manufactured between January 2017 and April 2022.
Product Usage Instructions
To ensure the proper functioning of your Multi V 5, it is important to regularly check for refrigerant leaks. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Checking for Refrigerant Leaks
- Operate the Multi V 5 in cooling mode.
- Using leak detection equipment, check the area indicated by the red circle on Page 2 of the user manual. Focus the test on the capillary at the top of the Distributor Assy.
- Check both areas indicated for any signs of leakage.
Note : It is recommended to use leak detection equipment instead of a bubble inspection, as it can be difficult to pinpoint the exact location of a leak with bubble inspection.
Step 2: Location on Outdoor Unit Coil to Check for Leaks
Refer to Page 3 of the user manual for information on the specific location
on the outdoor unit coil where leaks should be checked.
Step 3: Process to Enter Forced Defrost Mode
If you need to check for pipe vibration, follow these steps:
- Submit a site information request to obtain full information about the refrigerant leak site and installation details, as well as the quantity of leaks.
- Verify if the refrigerant leaks are occurring in the same location.
- Determine if there is pipe vibration in forced defrost mode.
By following these instructions, you can ensure the proper maintenance and performance of your Multi V 5 product.

Description
- Multi-V 5 heat exchanger structure change notice. (Distributor Assembly)
- Guide on how to verify leakage of outdoor heat exchangers.
Information:
There has been a change in the piping structure of the distributor assembly to
which the heat exchanger is connected.
The structure change described above is to prevent potential leaks due to pipe
vibration at the connection to the coil. Included is guidance on how and where
to check for leakage of existing outdoor heat exchangers (for the applicable
models and affected date(s) listed above).
Checking for refrigerant leaks
- After operating in cooling mode, check the area with leak detection equipment.
- Focus the test on the area with the red circle below. (Capillary at the top of Distributor Assy.)
Leak Detector Portable Type
It is recommended to use leak detection equipment instead of a bubble inspection. When performing a bubble inspection, it can be difficult to see the exact location of the leak.
Location on the outdoor unit coil to check for leaks
Process to enter forced defrost to check on pipe vibration
- Main PCB Dip S/W 5 ON
- Func ‘ ‘ move to ‘SVC’ then click ‘ ‘
- ‘SE01* ‘ ‘ move to ‘SE06’ then click ‘ ‘
- Display ‘dEF’ and defrost mode will be started > 10 minutes after starting the heating operation.
Site Information Request
- Full information on the refrigerant leak site (installation, leak qty’)
- Are the refrigerant leaks in the same location?
- Is there pipe vibration in forced defrost mode?
