• The MARS Surge Protective Device is for use with the MARS 80315 AC Disconnect Closure

• Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 10,000 rms amperes 120 volts per line.

The MARS 83915 AC Disconnect Surge Kit is supplied with the MARS Internal Surge Protective Device in the disconnect box.

\To complete the installation of 83915 with the surge protective device installed, follow the installation notes for the 80315 AC Disconnect Closure along with the following notes and instructions.

1. You may temporarily remove the Surge Protection Device Module to gain access to the mounting After mounting AC disconnect carefully return the SPD back to its original position. Referring to Figure 1, ensure wires from SPD are securely fastened to the appropriate terminal lugs as noted.
2. When power is restored verify green LED is “ON”.
3. Periodically check LED status lights confirming unit is functioning
4. Apply the LED status label onto the closure, directly above the LED status

To connect the Surge Protective Device module in the AC Disconnect Closure, refer to Figure 1 and follow the installation instructions below.

1. Turn off circuit breaker to the AC disconnect closure the protector

is to be installed and verify power is off with appropriate meter.

2. Open cover of AC disconnect and install the SPD as shown
3. Connect the two black wires as shown in
4. Connect the green wire to ground buss bar as shown in the
5. Ensure all wiring is correct and securely
6. Remove the ½” knockout hole for the LED indicator pod, from the AC disconnect closure
7. Remove the retaining locknut / washer from the LED indicator
8. Install the LED indicator pod into the ½” knockout Secure the LED indicator pod using the appropriate hardware.
9. Apply LED Status label onto the closure directly above the LED status
10. Securely close cover of AC Disconnect
11. Restore power and verify green LED is “ON”. Periodically check LED status lights confirming unit is functioning properly

Installation tips: For best performance ensure conductor length is as short as possible. Hard 90-degree bends will reduce effectiveness.
