Overall view
The instructions contained in this manual are applicable to different model
refrigerators. The diagrams may not directly represent the appliance
purchased. For more complex features, consult the following pages.
- Varies by number and/or position.
- Available only on certain models.
Start-up and use
SHELVES: with or without grill. Due to the special guides the shelves are
removable and the height is adjustable (see diagram), allowing easy storage of
large containers and food. Height can be adjusted without complete removal of
the shelf.
FRESH BOX?:
Due to the compartment low temperature (the coldest in the refrigerator)
food can be stored for up to one week. It can also be used to store chilled
ready meals. (always read the instructions on the food packaging).
WINE RACK:
Use to store bottles of wine. The air circulates freely between the bottles.
Starting the appliance
! After transportation of the appliance, carefully place it in an upright
position and wait at least 3 hours before connecting it to the electricity
mains, to make sure it operates as it should.
- Clean the inside of the refrigerator well using warm water and bicarbonate of soda before placing food inside it.
- The appliance is fitted with an electronic motor control system. The compressor motor will start approximately 8 minutes after the appliance is first Switched on, or after any power interruptions. (e.g. power failures)
Navigating the display and setting the storage temperatures
To switch on the appliance, press the ON/OFF button for more than two seconds.
The i-care setting should be automatically activated.
This is the optimal setting for energy saving with a frozen food storage
temperature of -18°C and general refrigerator compartment temperature of +5°C.
Status bar and LED will indicate these temperatures.
AUTO will be displayed.
On first switch on, we recommend that the SUPER FREEZE function is also
pressed (the status bar will continue to display the freezer compartment set
value).
This accelerates the cooling process of the freezer.
Once the optinum temperature is reached the function will be automatically de-
activate and frozen food can be placed in the compartment.
Also,on first switch on, we recommend the SUPER COOL function is pressed to
accelerate the cooling of the refrigerator compartment. (The status bar will
continue to show the refrigerator compartment set value). After a few hours
the the SUPER COOL function will automatically de-activate, and the
refrigerator will be cool enough for food to be placed inside.
When temperatures have stabilised on i-care setting, it is normal that some
sections of the refrigerator will be warmer than 5°C (e.g. fruit and vegetable
bin) and some areas colder (e.g. fresh box).
When the i-care function Is active, only slight adjustments can be made to the
temperature settings.
The freezer can be adjusted only colder, from -18°C to -19°C or -20°C.
The refrigerator can be adjusted slightly colder or warmer from a general +5°C
to either +4° or +6°C.
If it is necessary to make these adjustments, hold down the i-care button and
use the and temperature adjustment buttons for either the freezer or
refrigerator compartment.
The I-care setting can be de-activated by pressing the corresponding button
(see Control Panel).
(Note also that i-care will automatically be de-activated if certain other
buttons are pressed, see below).
Then, it is possible to make larger adjustments to the compartment
temperatures using any of the available settings on the display for the
refrigerator and freezer.
The set temperatures may not be achieved in all conditions, but try adjusting
the setting warmer or colder (as necessary). The actual stored food
temperature can be affected by food loading, number of door openings and by
extreme ambient conditions (very cold or very warm locations).
To activate and de-activate other functions simply press the relevant button
and the status will be shown by the corresponding LED switching on or off.
The Holiday function minimises energy usage when on holiday the set
temperatures may not be adjusted.
The settings will automatically be +12°C for the refrigerator and -18°C for
the freezer.
AUTO and Holiday button will be illuminated.
Remember to remove perishable food.
To avoid setting conflicting operating modes, some functions cannot be
selected together.
Example: Super cool, super freeze, ice party, i-care cannot be selected with
Holiday mode.
The LEDs indicate the active function.
Press the Ice Party button when a wine bottle is inserted in the freezer for
chilling.
A buzzer will beep once and the Ice party LED light will flash indicating the
bottle must be removed.
Do not leave the bottle in the freezer because it will freeze and this can
cause the bottle to break.
Press the Ice Party button to cancel the LED .
ALARMS.
! The freezer status bar is also used to indicate an unusual temperature
increase In the freezer compartment. See Troubleshooting section for more
details about alarms and cancelling these.
Child Lock
In order to activate the Child Lock function, the Child Lock button must be
pressed for 2 seconds; the activation of the button lock is confirmed by a
short beep and the illumination of the corresponding LED.
To deactivate the function, press the Child Lock button for 2 seconds;
deactivation will be confirmed by a short beep and by the corresponding LED
switching off.
No Frost cooling system This is recognisable by air ducts located on the
back walls of each compariment.
The No Frost system circulates cold air continuously to collect humidity and
prevent ice and frost formation. The system maintains an optimal humidity
level in the compartment, preserving the original quality of the food,
preventing the food from sticking together and making defrosting a thing of
the past. Do not block the air circulation by placing food or containers in
direct contact with the rear ducts.
Using the refrigerator to its full potential
- Adjust the temperature using the display.
- Press the SUPER COOL button (rapid cooling) to lower the temperature quickly. For example, when you place a large number of new food items inside a fridge the internal temperature will rise slightly. The function quickly cools the groceries by temporarily reducing the temperature until it reaches the ideal level.
- Place only cold or lukewarm foods in the compartment, not hot foods (see Precautions and tips).
- Remember that cooked foods do not last longer than raw foods.
- Do not store liquids in open containers. They will increase humidity in the refrigerator and cause condensation to form.
Using the freezer to its full potential
-
Adjust the temperature using the display.
-
To freeze foods safely and correctly, follow the instructions below: place the food in the FREEZER and STORAGE compartment, making sure that it does not come into contact with any food that has already been frozen; press the rapid-freezing SUPER
FREEZE button (the corresponding LED lights up) and close the door. The function deactivates automatically after 24 hours or when the inside of the compartment has reached the optimal temperature (the LED switches off). -
Do not re-freeze food that is defrosting or that has already been defrosted. These foods must be cooked and eaten (within 24 hours).
-
Fresh food that needs to be frozen must not come into contact with food that has already been defrosted.
-
Do not place glass bottles which contain liquids, and which are corked or hermetically sealed in the freezer because they could break.
-
The maximum quantity of food that may be frozen daily is indicated on the data plate located inside one of the compartments (for example: Kg/24h: 4).
! Do not open the freezer door during freezing.
! If there is a power cut or malfunction, do not open the freezer door. This
will help maintain the temperature inside the freezer, ensuring that foods are
conserved for at least 9 -14 hours.
ICE CARE tray
The fact that they are situated on the top part of the freezer drawers
ensures greater cleanliness: the ice no longer comes into contact with the
food placed inside the freezer compartment; furthermore, the dripping of the
water during filling is avoided (a lid to cover up the hole after filling with
water is also provided).
-
Pull out the tray by pushing it up.
Check that the tray is completely empty and fill it with water through the opening provided. -
Take care not to exceed the level indicated (MAX WATER LEVEL). Excess water prevents the ice cubes from dispensing (if this happens, wait for the ice to melt and empty the tray).
-
Turn the tray 90°: due to the connected compartments each mould fills with water (see diagram).
-
Close the opening with the lid provided and put the tray back, placing the top part in the corresponding housing and allowing it to drop in again.
-
When the ice has formed (minimum time approximately 8 hours) knock the tray against a hard surface and warm the outside so that the ice cubes come loose and take them out through the opening.
Maintenance and care

- Inthe case of a malfunction, under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or further malfunctioning of the appliance.
- Do not use utensils other than the scraper provided, or electrical equipment which is not of the type specified by the manufacturer, inside the frozen food storage compartments.
- Do not put ice cubes taken directly from the freezer into your mouth.
- Do not allow children to tamper with the controls or play with the appliance. Under no circumstance should they be allowed to sit on the bins or to hang from the door.
- Keep packaging material out of the reach of children! It can become a choking or suffocation hazard.
Disposal
- Observe local environmental standards when disposing packaging material for recycling purposes.
- The European Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimise the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The crossed out “wheeled bin” symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.
Respecting and conserving the environment
- Install the appliance in a fresh and well-ventilated room. Ensure that it is protected from direct sunlight and do not place it near heat sources.
- Try to avoid keeping the door open for long periods or opening the door too frequently in order to conserve energy.
- Do not fill the appliance with too much food: cold air must circulate freely for food to be preserved properly. If circulation is impeded, the compressor will work continuously.
- Do not place hot food directly into the refrigerator. The internal temperature will increase and force the compressor to work harder and will consume more energy.
- Regularly check the door seals and wipe clean to ensure they are free of debris and to prevent cold air from escaping (see Maintenance).
