IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use any handles or knobs.
- To protect against electrical shock, do not place cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool completely before moving, putting on or taking off parts, or before cleaning.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injury.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil, water or other hot liquids.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Do not insert oversized foods, metal foil packages, utensils or the plug and power cord in the toast slots as this may create a risk of fire or electric shock.
- A fire may occur if toaster is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, overhead cabinets, paper or plastic products, cloth towels, and the like, when in operation.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
- Do not operate toaster while unattended.
- Before unplugging toaster, make sure toast lever / lifter is in the “up” position.
- Do not cook, warm or toast rice cakes, fried foods, or non-bread items.
- Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and contact electrical parts, resulting in risk of electrical shock.
- Failure to clean crumb tray may result in a fire hazard.
2 SLICE TOASTER FEATURES

- Removable Crumb Tray
- Adjustable Browning Dial
This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. It may be plugged into an AC
electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use any other
electrical outlet.
DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF APPLIANCE
WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY.
A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided
to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a
longer cord. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is
exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used,
- The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and
- The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet,
reverse the plug and try again. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
- Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.
- To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.
- To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.
- Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are found, this indicates that the appliance should be serviced and the line cord replaced.
- Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and cause it to fray and break.
BEFORE FIRST USE
IMPORTANT
During the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice smoke and/or a
slight odor. This is normal and should quickly disappear. It will not recur
after appliance has been used a few more times.
For your safety, always read and understand the Use and Care Manual before
attempting to use any electric appliance.
BEFORE USING:
- Carefully unpack the toaster. Remove all packaging materials, including those which may be inside the toasting slots.
- Wipe exterior surfaces of the base with a soft, moist cloth to remove dust particles collected during packing and handling. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners. NEVER IMMERSE THE TOASTER, CORD OR PLUG IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
- Be sure the crumb tray is pushed all the way into the toaster.
- Your toaster is now ready to use.
Solid surface countertops can be easily scratched, cracked, scorched, or damaged, especially when exposed to heat. To prevent damage, the following precautions should be observed when using this product:
- Always use a trivet under heat generating sources such as Toasters.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
-
Plug the cord into a 120 volt, 60 HZ AC outlet. Position toaster at least 3 inches away from wall or rear of counter.
-
Let the first toasting process take place without inserting any bread to preheat the new elements and burn off any residue.
-
Select the desired level of darkness by turning the “1-6” light/dark knob on the front panel of the toaster to the right for darker toast and to the left for lighter toast. Your selection should vary based on the moisture content, thickness of bread, whether fresh or frozen and your darkness preference.
-
Next, place bread in slot and depress bread carriage lever downwards until it locks. Carriage lever will not stay down if toaster is not plugged in. The self-adjusting bread guides will automatically center the bread for browning. If using the FROZEN or BAGEL function buttons, press the selected button at this time.
NOTE: During Bagel function both sides will toast to the shade selected. Bagel function warms outside of bagel while toasting cut side.
IMPORTANT: If using BAGEL function, ensure the cut side of the bagel faces the interior heating element of the toaster. -
After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the bread will pop up automatically and is ready for removal from the slots. The bread carriage will return to its original position and disconnect the elements, ready for the next toasting.
-
To remove toast, press up on the bread carriage lever to lift toast out of the bread slots. NOTE: To remove jammed toast, unplug toaster and remove bread once toaster has cooled down. Never insert fingers or metallic utensils into slots.
IMPORTANT: To stop or interrupt any toasting cycle, press CANCEL button. Bread will pop up and toaster will turn off. NEVER force the carriage up manually to cancel. This may cause damage to the toaster.
DO NOT WRAP THE CORD AROUND THE MAIN BODY OF APPLIANCE DURING OR AFTER USE.
CAUTION: Due to possible risk of fire, DO NOT cook toaster pastries in
this toaster. Use a toaster oven instead. If a toaster must be used:
- NEVER use cracked or broken toaster pastries.
- NEVER leave the toaster unattended.
- ALWAYS use the lightest toast setting.
- The toaster should NEVER be operated by children. Fillings will become hot and may cause burns.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user-serviceable
parts. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Any servicing that requires
disassembly, other than cleaning, must be performed by a qualified appliance
repair technician.
TO CLEAN:
Be sure the toaster is unplugged before cleaning.
NOTE: If the toaster is used daily, it is recommended that the crumb tray
be cleaned weekly.
Wipe the toaster exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive
cleaners. Do not put cord or plug in water or other liquids.
CRUMB TRAY: To prevent electric shock, be sure the toaster is unplugged
from the wall outlet. Before opening the crumb tray, make sure the toaster has
completely cooled following use. Open the hinged crumb tray by squeezing the
latch and then pull the crumb tray away from the bottom of the toaster.
Discard the crumbs over a sink or garbage can and wipe tray with a clean
cloth. Close the crumb tray, making sure the latch is fully engaged.
TO STORE:
Be sure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store appliance in its box
or in a clean, dry place. Never store it while it is hot. Never wrap cord
tightly around the appliance; keep it loosely coiled or use the cord wrap
underneath the toaster.
HELPFUL HINTS FOR TOASTING
- ALWAYS remove all protective wrappings from food before placing in the toast slots.
- For best results, clean the crumb tray frequently.
- Toasting can be affected by the temperature of the bread. Room temperature bread may toast differently than bread that has been refrigerated, even at the same toast setting.
- Moisture content affects toasting. Fresh breads and bagels will have a higher moisture content than those purchased from the bread section in a supermarket. A second, shorter toasting cycle may be required to reach desired doneness.
- Thin breads or sweet breads brown more quickly and should be toasted on a lighter setting.
- When toasting a single slice, you may notice variations in bread color from side to side.
- When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness and freshness.
- Do not reheat or toast buttered breads.
- Do not block the toast slot openings.
- To remove food that becomes lodged in the toast slots, disconnect the toaster from the wall outlet and allow the toaster to cool. Turn the toaster upside down and gently shake. Do not use a fork or other utensil, as it could damage the heating element or result in risk of fire or electrical shock.
- DO NOT force the carriage up manually to cancel the toasting cycle. This may cause damage to the toaster. Always use the CANCEL feature.
