DETERMING THE CORRECT HAIR SECTION SIZE

The Curl Secret® is a different type of styling tool & works differently to any other curling stylers you may have used in the past. So before you start using it, familiarize yourself with the right size hair section depending on your length.
IMPORTANT : Do not start the curl any closer than 2cm to 4cm from the scalp, depending on how long your hair length is.
Comb through to remove any tangles & divide hair into sections no wider than 2.5cm (the smaller the section, the tighter the curls).
The short & long hair slots should help you to determine the optimum hair section. DO NOT try to jam larger sections into the hair slots, as this is improper use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Ensure your hair is clean, completely dry & free from hairspray.
Hairspray may cause the hair to heat up to astronomical temperatures & stick like glue, in-turn creating difficulty to remove hair from the styler.

  1. IMPORTANT – You must section your hair & comb through until its completely tangle-free before use.
The secret to nailing your look is to create 3 sections.
This will ensure your style always looks consistent.
    a) Use a comb or fingers & create the top section, from temple to temple and clip away on top of the head with a sectioning clip.
    b) Create the middle section from ear to ear & clip away with a sectioning clip.
    c) The hair left down is your bottom section.
    d) Always start with the bottom section first & once completely styled as desired, unclip the middle section, style & then unclip the top section. When using the Curl Secret® you will need to divide the hair into smaller sections. Refer to DETERMING THE CORRECT HAIR SECTION SIZE for more detail.
For more information on sectioning hair go to vssassoon.com.au.

  2. Plug your Curl Secret® into a suitable plug adapter (refer to chart), connect to a household outlet (120-240V) & place on a heat protective, flat level surface.

  3. Switch on the styler by pressing & holding the power button for approximately 1 second. The styler & LED display will turn on, while the default heat setting will start flashing.

  4. Select your desired temperature, curl type, & curl direction settings. (Fig. 1 and 2)
    Operating

  5. Hold the styler vertically/upright with the short slot opening facing towards your head.

  6. Place a section of hair in the short slot opening at the top of the unit making sure that all the hair is placed inside the top of the split barrel. (Fig. 3)

  7. Guide the remaining section of hair down the long slot until it’s below the * symbol & gently hold in place to ensure proper position for curling. Make sure 100% of the hair section is aligned along the slot and that there are no fray hair strands.
IMPORTANT – Your hair may become tangled if these instructions are not followed or if any hair is held loosely & falls away without 100% of it entering the curl chamber at the same time.

  8. Press the START button & watch the magic happen as your hair gently wraps around the barrel. (Fig. 4)
    Operating

  9. Hold the curler in place until you hear the rapid beeps. (Fig. 5)

  10. Pull the curler down & away to reveal the curl. (Fig. 6)

  11. Allow your hair to cool before handling or combing.

  12. Repeat all desired sections until you have the number of curls you would like. Use light hair spray to set the curls and maximize curl longevity.

  13. After use, turn the styler off by pressing & holding the power button for approximately 1 second. Allow to cool before storing away..

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

In order to prevent build-up of residue from hair products which could prevent the styler from working properly, it is important to clean the curl chamber regularly.

  • Ensure the styler is switched off, unplugged from the power supply & completely cooled down.
  • Twist off the detachable cover. Wipe curl chamber & cover with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Allow cover & chamber to dry.
  • Replace cover back on styler. Twist cover until it locks in place on styler.
