Frequently Asked Questions

How are Bluesound speakers set up?

Click the three horizontal lines in the bottom left corner of the screen when the Bluesound App is open. You can download and connect to a service or station by scrolling to Music Services and choosing it.

Can I combine different speakers with a subwoofer?

For a more balanced sound, a subwoofer is built to only provide the deep bass found in most musical genres (more on the different types of subwoofers in our tutorial). It’s important to note that while speakers can be used without subwoofers, subs cannot be utilized without speakers.

Will a subwoofer improve the sound quality of my speakers?

Your system as a whole will benefit from a great subwoofer by relieving your loudspeakers of some of the burden. The soundstage widens, the dynamics are more engaging, and the stereo imaging improves.

Do you require speakers and a subwoofer?

Regular speakers, as we have already stated, are unable to deliver the lowest tones, which will take away from you a significant portion of the sound. You will be exposed to inadequate bass or overly pressured highs without the subwoofer. There won’t be a full, balanced sound.

How can I improve the sound quality of my subwoofer?

Your subwoofer should be positioned facing outward into the rest of the room and within 8–12 inches of a wall for the best sound quality. Consider locating your subwoofer in the room’s corner for even greater output, since this placement can greatly improve the overall sound.

Can speakers be connected to a subwoofer?

The subwoofer can be connected using an additional set of speaker cables, as shown above, if you’re using it with a stereo receiver that doesn’t have a subwoofer output (which many stereo receivers do). This only works if the subwoofer has speaker-level (speaker wire) connections, like the choices in our Best Budget Subwoofer guide.

What setting should my subwoofer be on?

We advise setting the crossover for the subwoofer at 80 Hz, though you are free to increase it to 100 Hz if you so like. You don’t want your ear to be able to find the subwoofer, therefore avoid settings above 100 Hz.

What does the subwoofer’s speaker level input mean?

Speaker-level inputs allow you to connect your powered sub using the amp’s or receiver’s speaker connections, doing away with the requirement for an additional RCA patch wire.

What stops a subwoofer from functioning?

Brief Circuit Short-circuiting is the most frequent cause of speaker failure. The signal won’t ever reach the subwoofer if there is a short in the wires carrying it. Electrical current and signal cannot enter the subwoofer if the terminals on the subwoofer are shorted.

What does a subwoofer require?

A component subwoofer must be driven by an amplifier. You will want the right enclosure if you decide to purchase a component subwoofer. A Dynamat kit will stop your subwoofer from shaking and will cut down on outside noise so that the bass is stronger and richer.

Can a subwoofer be connected to the speaker output?

The subwoofer can be connected using an additional set of speaker cables, as shown above, if you’re using it with a stereo receiver that doesn’t have a subwoofer output (which many stereo receivers do). This only works if the subwoofer has speaker-level (speaker wire) connections, like the choices in our Best Budget Subwoofer guide.

Can I always have my subwoofer on?

Yes, as long as your subwoofer includes an auto standby mode, you can leave it on constantly. Subwoofers that are in standby use less energy and last longer.

How much electricity is consumed by a subwoofer?

From 150 to 1000 watts

How much electricity is consumed by a subwoofer?

The majority of subwoofers need between 150 and 1000 watts to recreate the sound they are receiving. Although the power can be raised by adding an amplifier, it is advisable to stick with speakers that only need around 20 watts if you only want something tiny and portable.

Do subwoofers automatically shut off?

Many amps and most subwoofers include automatic on or standby settings. On, off, and auto or standby are the most common settings for the power switch. On and off have obvious meanings.
