Installation Instruction (F9):

  • The sensor should be mounted in such a way that the air flow passes through the lateral opening. The marking is intended as an assembly aid.
  • Installation where there is low turbulence, if possible.
  • Do not install directly behind bends (distance approx 10x bend radius).
  • Install the probe in the middle of the duct where possible (distance at least 1/3 of the duct diameter from the wall).
  • Do not install directly behind the heating register (rapid changes in temperature may lead to the measured values being falsified).

Cleaning (F9):
The airflow sensor contains a sensor element which is sensitivity to mechanical loading and which must not be touched with hard and pointed objects. Any cleaning that may be necessary is possible in water (also with addition of detergents). Let the unit drip off and dry renewed start-up.

Value table relays-contacts:

| relays “Alarm”| relays “flow”
---|---|---
| clamps 3/4| clamps 4/5| clamps 6/7| clamps 7/8
no flow| open| connected| open| connected
work flow| connected| open| connected| open

Electrical connection (voltage off):

supply: green LED
alarm: yellow LED, left relay on PCB
flow: yellow LED, right relay on PCB
The RLSW6 has on failure of airflow an error memory that can only be resettled by pressing the button inside the unit or disconnecting the power supply.
The RLSW6AR features instead of the error memory an automatic reset, which sets the device back to monitoring function after an interruption of airflow.
Attention!!
Connection and commissioning must be performed by properly authorized and qualified personnel!
Connection to mains supply (L, N) must be made by means of a protected isolating switch with the usual fuses. As a matter of principle, the General VDE Regulations must be complied with (VDE 0100, VDE 0113, VDE 0160).
He air flow monitor RLSW6 is used to watch ventilators or regulating flaps, flow depending humidifiers and electrical heating registers regarding to DIN57100 part 420 or DDC-installations.
More installation areas: Exhaust and supply air.

Function:

After connecting supply voltage to the device (green LED enlightens) and the work flow being switched on (red LED enlightens), the relays connects and the applied aggregate will be released. Harmful heating or humidifying is safely prevented. If the work flow is not reached within the start-up delay the relays will connect to “Alarm” on clamps 4/5. The flow will drop after the break down delay is elapsed. Clamps 6/7 open (heater off) and the clamps 4/5 will be closed at the same time. This condition will be saved. With pushing “Reset” the device will be set to initial state and the start-up delay will run down again.

Devices with start-up delay:
There are applications in which the ventilators take some time to generate work flow. In order to prevent false alarms in this case, the RLSW6 has a start-up delay (15-120s). In this time the relay “Strömung” connects and the red LED “flow” enlightens. We suggest to switch on the ventilators as well as the flow monitor at the same time.

Frequently asked questions:

Problem Cause Solution
RLSW does not operate wrong or none supply voltage check the supply voltage
RLSW does not react on flow sensor is installed wrongly check the sensor’s

installation
RLSW shows unusual response| sensor is highly polluted| clean the sensor, refer to the regarding page in this manual
RLSW does not react on flow| no flow| press reset button
