Preliminary notes

  • Prior to installation, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment of the device are compatible.
  • The adjustment conditions for this device are stated on the label (or data plate).
  • This device is not connected to a combustion products evacuation device. It shall be installed and connected with current installation reg-ulations. Particular attention shall be given to the relevant require-ments regarding ventilation.
  • Installation must conform with local codes or in the absence of local codes, with the American National Standard for Recreational Vehicles, ANSI/NFPA 1192 and the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. In Canada, installation must conform with CSA Z240.4.2-M.

Operating the device safely

Hazard of carbon monoxide poisoning

  • The process of burning liquid gas produces carbon monoxide which accumulates inside enclosed areas.
  • Only use this device with sufficient ventilation.

Suffocation hazard

  • Operating this device in an unventilated area will reduce the amount of oxygen in this area.
  • Do not use the device as a space heater.
  • The use of a gas cooking appliance results in the production of heat, moisture and products of combustion in the room in which it is installed.
    • Ensure that the kitchen is well ventilated especially when the device is in use.
    • Keep natural ventilation holes open or install a mechanical ventila-tion device (e.g, a mechanical extractor hood).
  • Prolonged intensive use of the device may call for additional ventila-tion, for example opening of a window, or more effective ventilation, for example increasing the level of mechanical ventilation where present.

Explosion hazard

  • Do not use this device if it is leaking, damaged or does not operate properly.

  • If the seal is damaged or worn, do not use this device.
  • Turn off the gas supply at the gas container after use.

Fire hazard

  • This device must be kept away from flammable materials during use.
  • Do not place any objects other than cookware on or against this device.
  • Never place this device near flammable materials (paper, dry leaves, textiles).
  • Keep flammable objects away from the burner.
  • Position cookware handles as follows:
    • Never allow cookware handles to extend beyond the edge of the device.
    • Turn cookware handles inward, but not extending over other burners.
  • Do not excessively heat grease or oil.
  • Only use dry pot holders to handle hot cookware.
  • Turn off the device before removing the cookware.
  • Only operate this device when an adult can attend to it.

Safety precautions when handling vehicle batteries

Risk of injury

  • Batteries contain aggressive and caustic acids. Avoid battery fluid coming into contact with your body. If your skin does come into contact with battery fluid, wash that part of your body thoroughly with water.
  • If you sustain any injuries from acids, contact a doctor immediately.

Failure to obey these cautions could result in minor or moderate injury.

Risk of injury

  • When working on batteries, do not wear any metal objects such as watches or rings. Lead acid batteries can cause short circuits which can cause serious injuries.
  • Wear goggles and protective clothing when you work on batteries. Do not touch your eyes when you are working on batteries.

Explosion hazard

  • Do not smoke, use an open flame, or cause sparking near the engine or a battery.

NOTICE! Damage hazard

  • Prevent any metal parts from falling on the battery. This can cause sparks or short-circuit the battery and other electrical parts.
  • Ensure that the polarity is correct when connecting the battery.
  • Follow the instructions of the battery manufacturer and those of the manufacturer of the system or vehicle in which the battery is used.

Intended use
The gas cooktops are intended for installation in a kitchen or countertop in caravans or mobile homes.

The gas cooktops are suitable for:

  • Cooking and frying food in suitable cookware
  • Use with gas of the allowed gas category (see chapter “Technical data”)

The gas cooktops are not suitable for:

  • Use as a space heater
  • Outdoor use
  • Use on boats

This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions. This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product. Poor installation and/or improper operating or mainte-nance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.

The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:

  • Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
  • Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
  • Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
  • Use for purposes other than those described in this manual

Technical description

Function
The device is equipped with an automatic flame monitoring device which automati-cally interrupts the gas supply after approx. 20 seconds if the flame goes out.

Specifications for the different models
The devices are available in different versions:

  • PI8022: Cooktop with two burners and safety glass cover
  • CE99-DF: Cooktop with three burners and safety glass cover
  • CE99-ZF: Cooktop with two burners and safety glass cover

The safety glass cover can be used as a work surface when it is closed.

Installing the device

The assembly and installation of the gas connection must be performed by a qualified person who has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction, installation and operation of gas appliances and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved.

For proper operation of your cooking device:

  • The cabinet must be
    • Properly constructed.
    • Squared to the countertop and cabinet face
  • The opening in cabinet must be
    • Level from side to side and front to rear
  • The cabinet opening must be constructed so that no combustible material can be placed next to the cooktop sides.
  • The maximum depth of cabinets installed above the cooking top must be 13 in (330 mm).
  • The device area has to kept clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.
  • The flow of combustion and ventilation air must not be obstructed.
  • Leak testing of the device shall be conducted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Selecting the installation location
When selecting the installation location, observe the following instructions:

  • Consider the volume of air required for combustion (chapter “Technical data”).
  • There must be air vents with a cross-section of at least 23.3 in² (150 cm2) in the installation location.
  • Observe the minimum distances (fig. 2).

  1. Create a cutout according to the table and the installation drawing:

Connecting the device to the gas supply

WARNING! Explosion hazard

  • Only use propane gas containers with a certified pressure reduction valve and suitable head.
  • Compare the pressure information on the data plate with the pres-sure information on the propane or butane gas container.
  • Avoid any stress on the gas pipe system during and after installation.

Observe the following instructions for the connection:

  • Use a rigid gas line.
  • Observe the national requirements.
  • Only use steel pipe ∅5/16 x 3/64 in. (∅8 x 1 mm) (welded, seamless steel or stainless steel).
  • Fasten the gas line to the side or rear wall of the surrounding furniture parts so that no loads are placed on the actuators.
  1. Connect the pipes as shown (fig. 8).

  2. Attach a sign above the device with the following text:
    “WARNING!

    • When cooking, additional ventilation must be provided, for example, by opening windows near the device.
    • The device must not be used as a space heater.”

    WARNING! Explosion hazard
    Never check for leaks with an open flame or near sources of ignition.

  4. Check all connections for leaks with leak spray. There are no leaks if no bubbles form.

Connecting the device to the power supply (models with electronic ignition only)

  1. Connect the device as shown (fig. 10).

Using the device

WARNING! Fire hazard/ Explosion hazard

  • Only use pots and pans with an even base and a diameter no larger than the grids on the device. The pots and pans must be large enough to cover the flame. If the flames are not covered, items of clothing could catch fire.
  • When cooking, ensure that pans and pots are firmly set down.
  • Once cooking is completed, ensure that all gas control knobs are turned to the off position. After use close the gas supply.

CAUTION! Burn hazard

  • Do not touch the hot parts of the device during and after use. Leave the device to cool down properly.
  • Do not close the lid before the device has cooled down properly.

Switching on

DANGER! Hazard of carbon monoxide poisoning

  • Before switching on the device, ensure that the area is sufficiently ventilated.
  • During use, there must be opened air vents with a cross-section of at least 23.3 in² (150 cm2) in the installation room.
  • These vents can be closed when the device is not in use.

WARNING! Fire hazard/Explosion hazard

  • The complete ignition process must be visible from above and must not be hidden by pots placed on the stove.
  • The top cover must be open when the main burner is in operation.
  • Only use gas of the allowed gas category (see chapter “Technical data”). Do not use any other fuels.

Switching off

Replacing the gas container

WARNING! Explosion hazard

  • Only replace the gas container when there is good ventilation.
  • Ensure that there is no source of ignition nearby.
  • Only change the gas container when the device is not in use and the gas supply to the device is switched off.
  1. Switch the device off by turning the knob to the zero setting.
  2. Close the valve on the gas container.
  3. Replace the gas container according to the instructions from the gas fitting manufacturer.

Cleaning and maintenance

CAUTION! Burn hazard
Leave the device to cool down properly before cleaning, checking or maintaining the device.

NOTICE! Damage hazard

  • Do not use sharp or hard objects, abrasive cleaning agents or bleach during cleaning as these may damage the device.
  • Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the device.

Annual safety check
The assembly and installation of the gas connection must be performed by a qualified person who has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction, installation and operation of gas appliances and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved.

  • For safety reasons, have the device checked by qualified person every year for proper function. Any defects must be repaired.

Regular safety check

  • Check at regular intervals that the test port is properly closed (fig. 9).

Replacing the nozzles
The assembly and installation of the gas connection must be performed by a qualified person who has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction, installation and operation of gas appliances and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved.
