WARNING
Before gaining access to terminals, all power circuits should be disconnected.

SET UP

The pumps shall be set up in a dry place, adequate ventilation and temperature not exceeding 104 ºF (Fig. A).

Set the pump in place on a solid flat surface using the adequate bolts to prevent from vibration. The pump shall be set up in a horizontal position to allow the bearings to work properly. The suction pipe diameter shall not be smaller than the suction inlet. If the suction height exceeds 157.4” use a pipe with a large diameter.

The output pipe diameter should be chosen to resist the flow speed and required pressure in the force points. The suction pipe shall be set up with and upward angle facing the suction inlet to prevent air pockets. (Fig. B).

Double-check the suction pipe is completely hermetic and to be submerged in water at least one meter to prevent air bubbles. It is advisable to install a check valve between the output and the speed adjusting flow gate to prevent a dangerous water column that exceeds 65.6 ft The pippes should always be installed using supports (Fig. C) to prevent the transmission of voltage to the pump body. Be careful not to damage any part as a result of over- tightening the pipes when setting them.

POWER CONNECTION

The installer is responsible to set up the power connections into the power source in compliance with the corresponding mandatory regulations:

  • The international rules require that fixed installations shall incorporate a device assuring the omnipolar disconnection from the power source.
  • Double-check the specifications in the nameplate regarding the pump capacity and the capacity values in the line are the same. (Fig. D).
  • Connect the pump to a physical grounding system. Then connect the phases according to the diagram in the terminals block or in the nameplate.
  • Our monophasic motors are protected against overload by using a thermal device (Overcurrent cut) installed in the motor winding.

CAUTION
All wiring, electrical connections and grounding of the system must comply with the official Mexican standard NOM-001-SEDE, Electrical Installations (use) or local codes and ordinances. You should contact a qualified electrician.
It is recommended that the pump is fed with a circuit that includes a differential switch with a current rated no greater than 30 mA

CAUTION
The power cables are coded with the following colors:

  • GREEN
  • GROUND
  • BLACK
  • NEUTRAL
  • WHITE
  • CURRENT

GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

Read and understand all the instructions. Failure to follow all the following instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or severe personal injury.
Carefully follow the following instructions to gain the best performance and a long duty cycle of the pump.
In the event of any problem please contact your Truper® Authorized Service Center.

OPERATION CONDITIONS

These pumps have been designed to pump neutral and clear liquids with no suspended abrasive solids; under temperatures no higher than
104 ºF. Adequate for vegetable farms irrigation. Pumping non-aggressive liquids and to increase low pressure in the aqueduct network.

PRIMING
Fill the pump completely with clean water before starting it. Remove the threaded cap set in the upper side of the pump body and fill with water up to the orifice level. (Fig. E). Screw on the cap and start the pump.
This operation shall be made before starting the pump for the first time; when it has not been used for long periods of time or when there is air in the system.

WARNING
Never operate the pump when empty. If it happens accidentally turn off the pump, wait it cools down and prime it using clear water.

MAINTENANCE

Our pumps do not require maintenance only if the following precautions are observed. When there is risk of freezing, drain the pump removing the drain cap set in the lower side of the pump body. Make sure the pump is primed when starting it back. Verify regularly that the foot valve is clean. If the pump is to be inactive for long periods of time (for example, during winter) (Fig. F) is advisable to drain it completely, rinse it with clear water and store in a dry place. If the shaft does not rotate freely, release it with a screwdriver inserting it in the special slot set in the rear of the pump. (Fig. G). If this does not solve the problem, remove the pump body loosening the corresponding mounting screws and clean perfectly to remove any debris setting. Never service the pump when is not previously disconnected from the power source.

GUIDELINES FOR EXTENSION CORDS
Make sure the extension cord is in good shape. When using an extension cord, verify the gauge is enough for the power that your product
needs. A lower gauge cord will cause voltage drop in the line, resulting in power loss and overheating.
The following table shows the right size to use depending on the cord´s length and the ampere capability shown in the tool’s nameplate.
If in doubt, use the next higher gauge. The lower the gauge, the heavier the cord will be.
Make sure that your extension cord is properly grounded and in good shape.

Minimum gauge for extension cords (AWG)
(for 127 V~ only)

Ampere Capacity (2) Extension Gauge

13 A| 15 A| 3| 14 AWG| 12 AWG
15 A| 20 A| 3| 8 AWG| 6 AWG

  1. It is safe to use only if the extensions themselves have an artifact for over current protection.
  2. One of the conductors should be grounded. All conductors are the same gauge including the one that is grounded.

FOR THE BOAC-1-1/2
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
The pump has a thermomagnetic protector that prevents the motor from overheating. The motor shuts off when the switch is turned on, to reset it, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the power cord to ensure the pump is off.
  2. Allow the pump to cool for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Press the thermal switch located on the top cover of the motor.
  4. Connect the power cord to turn on the pump.
NOTE: If The unit shuts down again, please go to an Authorized Truper® Service Center.
