Safety instruction
- Loose, worn or damaged parts may cause the bicycle to fall over and serious injury may occur as a result. It is strongly recommended using only genuine S-Ride replacement parts.
- If adjustments are not carried out correctly, the chain may come off. This may cause you to fall off the bicycle which could result in serious injury.
Caution：
-
If gear shifting operations cannot be carried out smoothly, clean the rear derailleur and lubricate all moving parts.

If the amount of looseness in the links is so great that adjustment is not possible, you should replace the rear derailleur.

Grease the inner cable and the inside of the outer casing before use to ensure that they slide properly.

Periodically clean the rear derailleur and lubricate all moving parts (mechanism and pulleys).

If gear shifting adjustment cannot be carried out, check the degree of parallelism at the rear end of the bicycle. Also, check if the cable is lubricated and if the outer casing is not too long or short.

If you hear abnormal noise because of looseness in a pulley, maybe you should replace the pulley.

The gears should be periodically washed with a neutral detergent. In addition, cleaning the chain with neutral detergent and lubricating it can be an effective way of extending the life of the gears and the chain.

Use only a special grease for gear shifting cable. Do not use low quality or other types of grease.
These may cause deterioration in gear shifting performance. -
When the chain is in any of the position combinations shown in the table, the chain and the cassette sprocket may come into contact and generate noise. If the noise is a problem, shift the chain to the next largest gear or the next one.

Installation and adjustment：

Apply grease to the threads of the rear derailleur hanger bolt.

Use a 3 mm hex wrench to adjust the b-adjust screw so it clears the rear derailleur hanger tab.

Use a 5 mm hex wrench to attach the rear derailleur to the frame’s rear derailleur hanger. Torque the rear derailleur hanger bolt to 8 – 10 N∙m (70 – 85 in-lb).

Wrap the chain around the largest front chainring and the largest rear cog so that the ends of the chain meet below the chainstay, bypassing both the front and rear derailleur.

Pull the chain tight, and note which rivet the end of the chain is nearest. Add two links (or one link and a connecting link) to this length and use a chain tool to cut the chain.

Guide the chain through the front derailleur and over the smallest rear cog. Direct the chain around the front of and under the guide pulley (a) of the rear derailleur. Guide the chain around the rear of the jockey pulley (b). Connect the ends of the chain with a connecting link or chain pin.

Attention:
Make sure the chain is not contacting any part of the derailleur cage and is only riding on the pulleys.

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn the limit screw marked ’H’ on the outer link of the derailleur in order to align the center of the guide pulley with the outboard edge of the smallest cog.

While turning the crank, push the rear derailleur towards the larger cogs by hand. Stop turning the crank and hold the derailleur in place. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn the limit screw marked ‘L’ on the outer link of the derailleur in order to align the center of the upper guide pulley with center of the largest cog.

Measure and cut all rear shifter and rear derailleur housing. Ensure housing is long enough for full handlebar and suspension movement. Install ferrules on all sections of housing, then install into frame cable stops and rear derailleur cable stop

Feed the rear derailleur shifter cable through the cable housing, and through the rear derailleur housing stop and cable guide fin. Pull the cable tight and position it under the cable anchor washer. Tighten the 5 mm hex cable anchor bolt to 4 – 5 N∙m (35 – 45 in-lb).

While turning the crank, shift the derailleur down one cog (easier gear). If the chain hesitates or does not fully shift, increase the cable tension by turning the shifter barrel adjuster counter-clockwise. If the chain shifts more than one cog, decrease the cable tension by turning the shifter barrel adjuster clockwise. Shift up to the smallest cog, and shift the derailleur down one cog (easier gear) again.

Repeat this process until shifting and cable tension is accurate. Shift the chain up and down the cassette several times to ensure that the derailleur is indexing smoothly

Shift the front derailleur to position the chain onto the small chainring. While turning the crank, shift the rear derailleur to the largest cog. Use a 3 mm hex wrench to turn the b-adjust screw until the chain gap equals approximately 6 mm (1/4“) from tip of the cog to tip of guide pulley.

While turning the crank, release the derailleur and check the chain gap throughout the cassette.

Attention:
- At this point of your installation the chain gap is a rough estimate. Precision index shifting may require small changes of the b-adjustment while setting the proper cable tension.
- Do not use the b-adjust screw to adjust the rear derailleur to act as a chain-tensioning device or to prevent chain suck. This increases the chain gap causing poor shifting performance.
