Introduction : This user manual describes how to safely use these steps. For your own safety, please read it carefully before using the steps and keep it safe for future reference. Always include this user manual when handing the steps over to another person/owner.
1. Intended use: This step is a mobile piece of equipment that can be used in different locations. It is designed for performing small-scale jobs at height for which other types of equipment would be inappropriate (see the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health). This step must only be used as described in this user manual. All other uses are regarded as inappropriate use. We do not accept any liability for damage arising from the inappropriate use of the steps. These kinds of steps should primarily be used indoors only. Any changes made to the steps without the manufacturer‘s authorization will void the warranty and guarantee.
2. Technical information: Description of the steps and component list. The technical information specific to these steps is affixed to the steps themselves. Please refer to the table for more information.

Parts included with the steps: List of all of the components supplied with the steps (example): Steps (entire set of steps & all associated components) + Assembly Instructions & User Manual + optional handrail (not shown in drawings – ww see separate assembly instructions) and mandatory from 750 mm stand height (if upper platform < 240 x 400 mm)
4. Assembly instructions: Depending on the types of steps and how they are delivered, the steps may yet have to be fully assembled before use. Some steps also come with handrails and/or stabilisers that have to be fitted as shown below before use. Please refer to the separate assembly instructions for the handrails for information on how to fit them. Handrails must be fully extended and secured.
5. General safety information: The packaging poses a suffocation risk. Use of these steps is always associated with a risk of falling off the steps and of the steps tipping over. This can result in injury to persons and damage to objects. Steps and packaging materials are not toys. All of the work performed with and on the steps must be performed in such a way as to minimise these risks as much as possible. The steps must only be used for minor jobs and short periods of time. Do not work on the steps for too long without taking regular breaks. Tiredness is a hazard and can impact on the safe use of the steps. The steps must be suitable for the relevant use and must only be used in the specified position. Only use the surfaces provided for standing on. Do not change or modify the steps or any parts on them. Always make sure to have a safe handhold and foothold when working on and climbing the steps. Always observe the national rules and regulations, in particular if using these steps for professional work. Only use manu- facturer-approved accessories.
6. Assembly/Use: Always observe the instructions provided in the assembly instructions and user manual and on the steps itself when assembling and using the steps. Information on the steps’ design: Single or double sided version. Information on using the steps: Setting up and positioning the steps safely. Fit the stabilisers (if supplied). Fit the handrail (if supplied).

7. Maintenance/Servicing: The maintenance and servicing work performed on the steps is intended to make sure that the steps are working properly. The steps must be regularly checked for damage. Make sure all of the steps’ moving parts are in proper working order. All moving parts must be regularly lubricated. Any repairs to the steps must be performed by a qualified person and in correspondence with the manufacturer‘s instructions. Always clean the steps, and its moving parts in particular, immediately after use if they become dirty. Only use conventional, water-soluble cleaning agents. Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents. If the steps are being used commercially, they must be regularly inspected by an authorized person to make sure that they are in proper working order (visual inspection and performance test). In this case, it is essential to draw up an inspection schedule that defines the type, scope and intervals at which the requisite inspections must be performed. The intervals between these inspections have to be determined in accordance with the relevant operating conditions, in particular the relevant frequency of use, loads applied to the steps during use and the frequency and severity of any defects identified during previous inspections. The owner is also responsible for removing defective steps from use and storing them in such a way as to prevent their use until they have been properly repaired or disposed of.
8. Storage: Securely fasten and tie down the steps when transporting them (e.g. on roof racks or in cars) to avoid any damage. The steps should be stored in a dry environment either standing upright, flat on the ground or hung on a wall with a suitable wall holder. They must be stored in such a way as to prevent them from becoming damaged and all of their components must be protected from the weather. The steps must be stored in such a way as to be protected from children and such that they do not represent a hazard (e.g. tripping hazard). They must furthermore be stored in such a way that they cannot be used / removed for unlawful purposes.
9. Packaging/Disposal: The packaging must be disposed of in correspondence with the relevant regulations and laws. When having reached the end of their service life, the steps must be disposed of in compliance with the relevant regulations. Aluminum is a high-quality material and should be recycled. Please refer to your local authority for more information on recycling.
10. Service life: These steps are a high-quality product and designed to have a long service life if used as intended and regularly serviced.

Check the Step stool for damage after delivery and every time before use. Do not use Step stools that are damaged.

Set up the Step stool on a level, horizontal and solid surface. The feet of the Step stool must not be sinking into the ground.

Do not lean out to the side while standing on the Step stool!

Make sure the ground is free from dirt and hazardous substances

The Step stool must not be used by more than one person at a time.

Always ascend and descend the steps facing the steps.

Always make sure to have a safe handhold when climbing and working on the Step stool. If necessary, take extra precautions.

Do not put any excessive loads onto the sides of the Step stool such as, e.g. when drilling into masonry and concrete.

Any objects carried up and down a Step stool must be light and easy to hold.

Always wear suitable footwear when climbing the Step stool.

Do not use a Step stool if your physical fitness is compromised or insufficient for using a Step stool. Certain health problems, medication, alcohol and drug misuse can pose a safety hazard when using the Step stool.
15. Do not work on the Step stool for too long without taking regular breaks. (Tiredness is a hazard).
16. Securely and appropriately fasten and tie down Step stools when transporting them on roof racks or in vans/lorries to avoid damage.
17. Before use, check whether the steps are suitable for the relevant application and that they aren’t damaged.
18. Clean and make sure the Step stool is free from e.g. wet paint, dirt, oil or snow, before use.
19. Do not use the Step stool outdoors in poor weather conditions (e.g. strong winds, frost, ice and snow).
20. When using Step stools in a professional context, always assess the risks involved taking into account the legal regulations in the country of use before use of the Step stool.

Beware of the risk of collision with e.g. pedestrians, vehicles or doors when setting up the Step stool. Lock doors (with the exception of emergency exits) and windows near the Step stool.

Take note of all of the hazards posed by electrical equipment, e.g. overhead power lines or other ex- posed electrical equipment, within the work area.
23. Do not use conductive Step stools for work on live equipment or near overhead power lines (e.g. aluminum Step stools).

Do not make any structural changes to the Step stool.
25. Never move the Step stool into a different position while standing on it!
26. Do not use the Step stool outdoors in high winds.

If a Step stool comes with stabilisers, they must be fitted by the user before first use.
