Product Information
The maxon BIKEDRIVE AIR is an electric bike system that provides motorized support for cycling. It features a POWERTAB with variousfunctions, including an Active Range Extender, Status LED, Service LED, State of charge (SOC) indicator, On/Off button and light switch, and Error LED. The system offers three support levels (0-III-III) to enhance the cycling experience.
LED Display
- WHITE (STATUS LED): The white Status LED is continuously lit when the e-bike is switched on.
- GREEN (ACTIVE RANGE EXTENDER): The green LED indicates the detection of an active Range Extender.
- BLUE (SERVICE LED): The blue Service LED is lit when the e-bike is in service mode for diagnostics or system configuration.
- RED (ERROR LED): The red Error LED lights up when an error is detected. The e-bike needs to be switched off and on to exit the fault condition.
Charging the Battery
- Select a cool location for charging, following the permissible charging temperature guidelines in Chapter 5.3 of the Operating Manual.
- Connect the charger to a power socket.
- Connect the charger to the charging socket on the bike.
- The charging process starts automatically, and the progress is displayed via LEDs on the POWERTAB. The red LED of the charger indicates charging. Once the battery is fully charged, the charger’s indicator switches to green, and the bike automatically switches off.

Product Usage Instructions
Switching the System On/Off
To switch the system on, briefly press the On/Off button. When the system
starts up, no support level is active, and the bike behaves like a normal
bicycle without support. After startup, you can use the On/Off button to
switch the light on or off. To switch the system off, press and hold the
On/Off button for approximately 3 seconds until the LED display turns off.
Displaying the State of Charge (SOC) of the Battery
After startup, the SOC is continuously displayed by LEDs. If all 7 LEDs are
lit, the battery is full. If the indicator flashes, the battery is being
charged. If the battery charge is too low, no SOC is displayed, and the white
Status LED is lit. When the battery charge becomes critically low, the bike
switches off automatically.
Ride Mode – No LED is Lit
In this mode, motor support is switched off, and you can cycle as usual
without any assistance.
Powertab Functions – Support Levels I-III
The selected support level is displayed with three bars. If no bar is lit,
level Zero has been selected, and the bike does not provide any support. As
soon as you select a level, motor support is provided. Level III offers the
strongest support, but it reduces the range of the bike.
Individually Configuring Support Levels with the Connect App
To customize the support levels, maxon offers a Connect app for iOS and
Android. With the Connect app, you can configure the support levels according
to your preference and use your smartphone as a display on the handlebar. The
Connect app is available for download from the Google Play Store and iOS App
Store.
