Product Getting Started
Download the Alexa App
Download and install the latest Alexa App from your mobile device app store.
- Open the app store on your mobile device.
- Search for Amazon Alexa app.
- Select Install.
- Select Open and sign in with your Amazon Account.
- Install Alexa widgets (optional).
Network Requirement
Yes, a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network is required for setup.
If you have a dual Wi-Fi router:
- If it is broadcasting only 1 signal, go to the Wi-Fi management and create a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal first, choose it, and enter the password.
- If it is broadcasting both signals, ignore the 5G signal and choose the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, then enter the password.

- You can find the barcode laser printed on the light bulb socket and also printed on the back page of the quick start guide. Note that the barcode on the packaging box is used for fulfillment purposes, NOT for Alexa setup.
How to Set Up Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb with Alexa app
Before setup, make sure you have the latest Alexa app downloaded and are using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Screw in the smart LED light bulb and turn on the light. It will flash twice softly, indicating that the bulb is ready for setup.
- Open the Alexa app and tap the More icon on the bottom-right side of the screen.
- Tap Add a Device.
Rename your Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb
Once you finish adding your light bulb into the Alexa app, it will show as the first light. It is recommended to rename your light bulb by function, purpose, or location to make it easier to find and control.
- Open the Alexa app.
- From the Devices tab, select the light bulb that you want to rename.
- Tap on the gear icon for Settings to proceed.
- Tap on Edit Name to rename each outlet.

- Tap on Devices to find your light bulb.
- Control the light bulb within the Alexa app.

- Q: How do I remove the Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb from the Alexa app?
- A: Follow these steps to remove the device from your Alexa app:
- Open the Alexa app
- Select “Devices”
- Select the light bulb you wish to remove and tap on the gear icon for “Settings” to proceed
- Select “Trash” icon on the top right corner. Then you have successfully removed the light bulb from your Alexa app
- Q: How do I create Smart Home groups for Alexa?
- A: Follow these steps to create groups in your Alexa app:
- Open the Alexa app
- Select “Devices”
- Select “+” and then “Add Group”
- Select either Create a room or device group or Combine rooms or groups
- Use the preset group names, or create your own, and then select Next.
- Select the devices or groups you want to include, and then select Save.

Troubleshooting
- Q: How do I factory reset my Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb?
- A: You can do a factory reset by deleting your device from the app.
- If you are not able to delete your device from Alexa app, alternatively: Use a light switch to quickly turn on and off the light for 5 times. At the 6th turn on, it will flash 5 times quickly, then flash twice softly, indicating you have successfully factory-reset your light bulb, and it is ready for setup again.
- Q: Amazon Alexa app cannot find or connect to the smart LED light bulb.
- A: To resolve most discovery issues, try these steps:
- Check that your phone/tablet and the Alexa app have the latest software version
- Make sure that your phone/tablet and your smart LED light bulb are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The bulb is not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi network
- Check that your phone/tablet is within 30′ (10 m) of your smart LED light bulb
- Restart your smart LED light bulb. To restart, power off the smart LED light bulb and power it back on
- If you have restarted your smart LED light bulb and it is still not working, reset your light bulb.
- Q: What if I lose the quick start guide, how can I set up my smart light bulb?
- A: You can set up your device via two alternative setup methods:
- Alternative method 1- Add the device with the barcode on the light bulb.
- Alternative method 2 – Add the device without a barcode
- The detail instructions can be found under User Manual Section 2.1 “Alternate setup methods”. You can also follow the video shown on the detail.
- Q: What should I do if I see error code (-1:-1:-1:-1) during my Alexa setup?
- A: Make sure your phone has Bluetooth turned on throughout the entire setup process and the device you are trying to setup is in pairing mode. Restart your device by powering it off and on, and then set up again.
