INSTALLATION

Unpacking the filter system Carefully remove all product components from the packaging before starting the installation.

Caution for use :
Do not use with products containing flocculant or PHMS / Active Oxygen, risk of clogging the filter media. If this happens, backwash and if necessary machine wash the Aqualoon in cold water.

INSTALLATION OF THE FILTER

To install the pump and filter, proceed as follows:

  • Never cover the pump and filter to avoid overheating.
  • The pump should not be placed above the water level as it is not self- priming and the risk of running dry or of air bubbles not being visible is very high. Damage resulting from dry running of the pump is not covered by the warranty.
  • Place the pump and filter on a flat, stable base, in a place with sufficient ventilation and protection from sunlight, and easily accessible for maintenance work, following the suggestions below.
  • The filter must be installed vertically at least 3.5 metres from the edge of the pool and ensure that it cannot fall into the water. Make sure that there is space around the filter for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Do not operate the filter at pressures above 0.4 bar. Position the filter so that the inlet and outlet hose connections are already facing the pool to avoid unnecessary bending or folding of the connecting hoses.
  • It is recommended to use pipes at the water inlet and outlet that are equal to each other and have a diameter equal to or greater than the diameter of the fittings provided
FIRST INSTALLATION
  • Connect connection 3 to the suction of the pump 2 ;
  • Connect connection 5 to output 4 of the pump;
  • Insert and secure the tube 6 into the fitting 5 ;
  • Insert fitting 7 into hose 6 and secure it;
  • Connect connection 7 to inlet 9 of the filter;
  • Connect connection 3 to output 8 of the filter.
  • Connect the hose from the pool drain to connection 3 of the pump;
  • Connect the filter return hose to the pool;
  • If the pump does not rest properly on the ground, loosen the grey ring nuts on connections 5 and 7 to adjust the connection height. Then tighten the ring nuts.
  • Check that the diverter valve is in the ‘FILTER’ position.
  • Only after you have made all the above connections should you connect the pump cable to the power supply.

IMPORTANT: The electronic board integrated in the pump has been programmed to guarantee 3 levels of protection:

Protection against rotor lock-up :
A blockage or abnormal operation of the rotor may occur due to excessive fouling. In this case, the internal electronic board will make 20 attempts to start, followed by a short interval of time, then 20 more attempts to restart the pump properly. If the pump does not restart automatically after the 20+20 attempts, the circuit board will remain powered but the motor will stop. In this case, to restart the pump, it will be necessary to remove and reinsert the plug into the socket.

Protection against dry running and thermal overheating :
This protection comes into play if the pump runs without water or if the motor overheats. In both cases, the pump stops. The motor will also stop when the pump is no longer supplied with water. As above, to restart the pump it will be necessary to remove and reinsert the plug into the socket.

CAUTION: Do not underestimate the magnetic force of the rotor assembly. If you accidentally lose your grip and the shaft hits the pure ceramic rear bearing, the risk of damaging the bearing is very high. Such damage will result in the replacement of the damaged part.

CLEANING

CLEANING THE FILTER MEDIA WITH THE PATENTED SYSTEM

The COMBO PREMIUM filter unit is equipped with a patented system that makes it easy to clean the filter media without having to open the filter.

CLEANING OPERATIONS

  • Stop the pump connected to the filter by removing the power supply.
  • Raise handle 10 until it locks.
  • Turn both selectors 11 ‘FILTER/ CLEAN’ bin line with the word CLEAN.
  • Press the flow switch 20 with the palm of your hand and turn it clockwise until it stops. Now release it.
  • Reactivate the pump by reconnecting it to the power supply.
  • Press handle 10 until the filter media are crushed. Repeat the operation until the water coming out of the drain hose is clean. (Be careful if the water contains chlorine, drain in a suitable place, preserving the plants and grass). This cleaning system uses the water in the pool, so once the filter media have been cleaned, reset the pool to the desired level.

RESTORATION OF FILTERING OPERATIONS

  • Now lift the handle 10 until it locks.
  • Stop the pump connected to the filter by removing the power supply.
  • With the handle 10 raised, turn the selector 11 «FILTER/CLEAN» in line with the «FILTER» marking.
  • Lower the handle 10 until it locks.
  • Press the flow switch 20 with the palm of your hand and turn it counter- clockwise until it stops. Now release it.
  • Remove coupling 13 from the exhaust pipe and close it with cap 12.
  • Reactivate the pump by reconnecting it to the power supply

FILTER MAINTENANCE – CLEANING AND REPLACING SPONGES AND FILTER MEDIA

CAUTION: Always disconnect the pump from the mains before carrying out any maintenance.

  • Once the pump has been disconnected from the mains, it is advisable to remove the water inlet and outlet pipes in order to work without any obstruction.
  • Never open the metal ring 16 before disconnecting the pump.
  • Open the metal sealing ring 16.
  • Remove the filter cover, paying attention to the seal. This should be washed and possibly greased (silicone grease only) for future use.
  • Remove the sponges and fibre and wash them under running water or replace them.
  • Remove the grid at the bottom of the filter and wash the area underneath thoroughly under running water.
  • Reassemble the filter by following the steps described above in reverse order.
  • Check that seal 17 of the cover is correctly positioned.

MAINTENANCE AND WINTERIZATION

For correct and efficient operation, the pump requires simple but necessary periodic maintenance. First, remove the plug from the socket and proceed as follows:

  1. Release the locking ring on the scroll by pulling the tab outwards.
  2. Remove the ring.
  3. Remove the pump housing by rotating it and pulling it forward at the same time (in case of clogging, this may require a certain strength).
  4. Remove the complete rotor with the flange.
  5. Rinse under running water, using a toothbrush to remove any encrustations.
  6. Reassemble in reverse order, ensuring the seal is in the correct position and insert the volute, wetting the seal to facilitate insertion.
  7. Replace the ring with the larger teeth facing the pump and close it by pressing the tab until you hear a «click». Any damage to the seal, however minor, can seriously affect the performance of the pump and will require replacement.

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTOR ASSEMBLY

For complete cleaning or replacement of the rotor assembly, proceed as follows: repeat the opening operations as indicated in points 1, 2, 3, 4 of the maintenance paragraph.

Insert the supplied hook inside the pump sleeve. Hook the bearing and pull it out. Clean the bearing under running water (do not use any detergents or cleaning products of any kind as they pollute the water: we recommend using a solution of water and vinegar using a soft brush to remove limescale deposits. If it is very worn, replace it with a new one. Put the bearing back into the pump sleeve after wetting it and push it in fully

WINTER PERIOD
The filter and pump must be protected against freezing. The appliance must be switched off during the winter season. Remove all water from the filter and pump, dismantle it and store it in a sheltered, dry place. Remove the rotor assembly from the pump, wash it thoroughly, and store the pump and rotor separately. Store the unit and accessories in a dry, temperature- controlled area, 0/40 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to keep the filter open during storage. You can reuse the original packaging to store the product and accessories.

WARNING!
Limescale deposits and natural wear of the components may cause an increase in the noise of the pump, but do not affect the proper functioning of the pump in any way. In this case, we recommend replacing the entire rotor.
