REQUIRED TOOLS
4mm hex bit, torque wrench and anti-slip paste
INSTALLATION
- Ensure that the handlebar you are using has the correct diameter for compatibility with your CADEX stem.
- Confirm the diameter of the fork steerer tube. If it is 1 1/8th inch, use the included carbon shim for correct fit.
- Loosen the clamping bolts on either side of the stem and slide the stem onto the fork steerer tube until it is seated on a stem spacer or the headset top cap. If necessary, slide the carbon shim onto the fork steerer tube prior to installing the stem.
- Make sure you have 1.5~2mm between the top lip of stem body and the top of the fork steerer tube.
- Install the stem top cap and gently pre-tighten the bolt.
- Align the stem and the front wheel.
- Apply anti-slip paste on the stem faceplate and the corresponding area of the handlebar body. (see Figure A)
- Install the handlebar and stem faceplate. (see Figure B)
- Using the indicator on the handlebar, center the handlebar and position it horizontally in the stem clamp to your preference.
- Tighten the faceplate screws to the indicated torque value for the handlebar. Do not exceed 5.5Nm. (see Figure C)
- Finish tightening top cap bolt, making sure that the headset bearings do not bind or have play. CADEX recommends tightening to just where the bolt stops moving without force and then adding quarter turn more to start, loosening or tightening gradually from there. If you have any questions on this step, please contact your authorized CADEX retailer.
- Tighten stem clamp bolts to the indicated torque value for the fork steerer tube. Do not exceed 5.5Nm. (see Figure D)
