Hi,

we are so glad that you have bought your electric bike from Momas!

It is important that you write down the serial number of your bike as it is not registered anywhere with the supplier, only on the bike and the box.

When servicing with the supplier, we recommend that you bring the user manual so that our bike mechanic can note the performed service, as well as for you to get a signature after the service.

For example: Service number YX999.

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS

Always inspect the vehicle before use. Check the brakes, that everything is in place, check air pressure and use safety equipment.

BEFORE USING THE E-BIKE

  • Before putting the product into use, the buyer must familiarize himself with the user manual
  • Choose a suitable place for your first rides and get to know the electric bike
  • Set up the e-bike according to the instructions shown in the user manual
  • We recommend a helmet and other protective equipment
  • You should familiarize yourself with brakes, braking distance and how the product behaves when braking before using the product in traffic/among people. Test at low speeds first and work your way up to high speed emergency braking

DRIVING

  • Press and hold the on/off button to turn on the e-bike
  • Remember to shift between gears while driving and to use the bell and lights on roads, carriageways and among other road users
  • Be aware that sudden, unforeseen obstacles may appear along the way. Use common sense with regard to speed and adapt your driving to the conditions and surface
  • The auxiliary motor works like this: When the pedals are activated, a sensor sends signals to an electronic control, which then starts the motor. The power of the auxiliary motor is adjusted in relation to the selected assistance level. You can adjust the level of assistance as needed while riding. You can put in maximum assistance when riding uphill, while you can turn off the assist motor when riding downhill. The electronic control unit automatically disconnects from the motor when you stop using the pedals. Likewise, the control unit disconnects the engine when your speed exceeds 25 km/h
  • Show consideration for all traffic rules that are relevant in relation to bicycles/electric bicycles
  • These models are developed for cycling on public roads and pavements. Avoid off-road driving and rough terrain
  • It is completely normal for the engine to make a little noise while driving

BRAKES

  • Use the brake lever/brakes when braking. When the brake lever is depressed, the hydraulic brake(s) are activated. If the lever is too easy to push in, the brakes need to be adjusted. This can be done with us at E-Wheels or at your local bike mechanic
  • The harder you press the brake handle, the greater the braking force of the product. Be aware that in the event of sudden braking, the e-bike may slide forward and dangerous situations may occur
  • Avoid sudden braking if not necessary as it leads to worn tires and punctures

MAINTENANCE

SERVICE

A thorough service of the bicycle means that a bicycle mechanic adjusts, tightens and lubricates all moving parts. After that, we recommend that you carry out maintenance yourself at regular intervals, depending on how often and how far you ride. Below is a checklist for future service inspections:

  1. Inspection, which must be carried out no later than 2 months after the date of purchase. Includes the following: Adjustment, tightening and lubrication of moving parts.
  2. Service inspection which should be carried out approx. 1 – 2 times per year or after 1000 km (must be documented) includes the following: Adjustment of steering parts, crankshaft, gearbox, front axle, lubrication of external moving parts and safety check of tire depth and tire pressure (tire pressure should be 3 – 4 bar), lights (test cables or batteries), as well as a general safety check of the rest of the bike.

Tires
When the tires are worn or damaged, they must be replaced before continuing to ride the bike. Fill with air once the week with frequent use. It is very important that the tires have the correct air pressure before use. The tires has about 2 bar of air pressure from the start and will puncture if you don’t fill them with air. You should have between 3.4 – 4 bar (50 – 60 psi), but it is important to check the side of the tire for the recommended pressure. Correct air pressure gives better range, top speed, acceleration, climbing ability and ride comfort. Most importantly: It drastically reduces the risk of puncture.

  • Punctures are not covered by complaints, with the exception of manufacturing defects. In the event of a puncture, due to different air pressures i the tire and the surrounding area, air will seep out at the valve as this is the only opening for the air to escape by. This usually does not mean that the valve is defective. To check if the valve is defective, the hose must be removed and kept under water. Then see where the air leaks out of the hose
  • Avoid kerbs, jumps, uneven weight distribution and fill up with air to avoid punctures
  • You can order spare parts at www.e-wheels.no/www.ewheels.se
  • Make it a habit to look over the bike, check the air pressure and see if all visible screws are properly seated. It is very important that all visible screws are properly tightened. We recommend doing this every week, regardless of how much the bike is used

BRAKES – BRAKE MAINTENANCE AND TESTING INSTRUCTIONS

  • The brakes must be adjusted and tightened as necessary. Please contact your sales representative for guidance
  • Always check the brakes before you start using the product
  • Products with disc brakes need to have the brake pads replaced if necessary. These can be ordered from your supplier

BATTERY

  • Momas bikes are equipped with Li-ion batteries. The average lifetime of the battery is around 600 cycling trips. Under normal use and with regular maintenance, the life of the battery can usually reach over 600 cycling trips
  • Before using the electric bike for the first time, it is important to charge the battery to 100%
  • Always take the battery indoors and make sure it is kept dry
  • Always try to leave at least 10% left and avoid draining the battery completely before charging it
  • Do not leave the e-bike with a completely empty battery for several hours. Please charge it as soon as possible
  • When you are going to put the electric bike away for a longer period of time, it is important that the battery percentage is at least 50% or more (max. 80%). It is extremely important to maintenance charge it at least once a month, otherwise the battery will be damaged
  • Always use the original charger that belongs to your model
  • Do not leave the e-bike in places where the temperature is colder than -5 and do not leave it in the sun. Better put it in the shade
  • Li-ion batteries must be handled with extreme care. Overcharging, damage or overheating may result in fire. Always be awake and present when the e-bike is charging, do not charge it unattended during the night
  • Do not use or charge a damaged battery unattended. Immediately follow disposal protocol and deliver the battery for proper disposal

CHARGER
CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS

  • The charger is developed for indoor use
  • Dry the battery after use before charging
  • Insert the plug from the charger into the socket (AC 110 V – 230 V)
  • Make sure the e-bike is turned off and the key removed before charging the bike
  • Open the charging port cover and insert the charging plug into the charging port
  • The chargers from Momas have a built-in timing function for when the battery is fully charged. The lamp on the charger lights up red to indicate that charging is in progress. When the light changes from red to green, it indicates that the battery is fully charged
  • When charging the battery, the electric bicycle must be placed in a dry and ventilated room/place

COMPLAINT

WHAT DOES THE RIGHT OF COMPLAINT INCLUDE?
Our electric bikes are built to last. Nevertheless, an electric bicycle is made up of parts with different lifespans, and the time limited claim right will therefore vary depending on which part of the bicycle is being claimed. Some components such as the motor and battery are more exposed to natural wear and tear and will therefore have a shorter life expectancy than the bike as a whole.
Remember that proper maintenance and use are critical to the product’s lifespan. User error is not eligible for complaint. Lack of maintenance combined with incorrect use is among the most common reasons for an electric bicycle to be damaged, and will not be covered by the right of complaint. We always recommend our customers to follow our maintenance and product instructions, as this can be of great importance in the event of a complaint. See our website for current warranty conditions, information on complaints and how to proceed.
Please note that intensive or commercial use, such as daily food deliveries, will affect and reduce your right to make a complaint.
The bikes are designed for normal private use and intensive use will accelerate wear and possibly cause faults/damages not covered by the Consumer Purchase Act.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?
Damage to the product caused by:

  • Careless use, abuse, neglect, rental, impact, heat, moisture damage, improper installation with self-repair, punctures, road salt, poor maintenance or modifications to the e-bike. No external influences are covered
  • Inadequate maintenance, improper charging, improper storage, improper use, i.e. exceeding weight, height and/or age restrictions, driving on stairs, against walls or curbs, other types of extreme sports, etc.
  • Accident, crash, running over objects, racing, fire, that the e-bike has been under water, in water with high pressure, cold, earthquake, fall, oxidation or chemical corrosion. Water damage is not covered by complaints unless there is a manufacturing defect
  • Using the bike when the display does not show speed. (If the bike is used without cruise control)
  • That the product has been tampered with and is delivered without original parts
  • Errors caused by other equipment
  • Incorrect packaging or incorrect handling when returning to retailer
  • Modification – use of third party product not purchased from retailer

COMPLAINT AND SERVICE REQUESTS
We refer you to your supplier for complaints and service requests.

TIPS FOR EXTENDING THE LIFETIME OF THE E- BIKE

  1. Charge the battery fully at least once a month during seasons when the bike is not in use. If not maintained, the battery capacity can decrease drastically. This is due to irresponsible handling of the bike and is not covered by complaints.
  2. Make sure there is enough air pressure in the tires. At least 2.2 bar recommended weight.
  3. The bicycle must be kept clean and dry. Rust is not covered by complaints.
  4. The chain should be lubricated at least once per season.
  5. Crank arms and pedals should be tightened after the first ride, before 4 miles. Next, the crank arms and pedals should be tightened as needed. Worn threads and cracked axles are not covered by complaints.
  6. The customer is responsible for ensuring that adjustments are made correctly. Broken gears as a result of poor/incorrect adjustment are not covered by complaints.

SAFE WASTE DISPOSAL

This product must not be disposed of by incineration, landfill or together with household waste. Improper disposal of the battery in this product may cause the battery to heat up, rupture, or catch fire, causing serious injury. Substances contained in the battery constitute chemical hazards for the environment. E-Wheel’s products must be delivered to a recycling center or recycling facility.
Local regulations and laws regarding the recycling and disposal of lithium batteries and/or products containing them vary by country, state, and local government.

You must check the laws and regulations corresponding to where you live to properly dispose of the battery and/or device. It is the user’s responsibility to dispose of their waste in accordance with local regulations and laws.
