Using the proper drill bit size, drill a hole into the base material to the required embedment depth. The tolerances of the drill bit used must meet the requirements of ANSI Standard B212.15.
Warning: In post tension concete slabs, avoid drilling into post tensioned cables.

Using a hand pump, compressed air, or vacuum, remove the debris and dust from the hole. Insert the anchor into the hole and tap flush with the surface. Use the appropriate-sized Dottie setting tool to set the anchor by driving the tool with a hammer until the shoulder of the tool is seated against the anchor. The anchor will not hold allowable loads if the shoulder of the setting tool does not seat against the anchor.

If using a fixture – position it, insert the bolt, and tighten. Most overhead applications utilize threaded rod. Minimum thread engagement should be at least one anchor diameter.
