reverse the plug. If it should still not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not modify the plug in any way.
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of entanglement or
tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension
cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a
longer detachable power-supply extension cord is used:
- The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
- The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
POWER CORD SAFETY TIPS

- To insert the plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into the outlet.
- To disconnect the appliance, grasp the plug and remove it from the outlet.
- Never use the product if the power cord shows signs of abrasion or excessive wear. Contact Chefman® Customer Support for additional guidance and support.
- Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and cause it to fray and break.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Remove all packing materials and stickers from the inside and outside of the sandwich maker except for the rating label, which should remain on the unit.
- Gently wipe down the exterior and interior with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any packaging residue. Dry completely.
- CAUTION: Never immerse the sandwich maker, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid; do not use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the finish.
- Place the unit on a flat, heat-resistant surface positioned at least 2 inches away from the wall or any other objects.
HOW TO USE THE SANDWICH MAKER
The sandwich maker’s unique cooking plates feature triangular edges perfect for sealing and dividing sandwiches, cooking pocket omelets, and more.
-
Prepare your sandwich or food of choice to be grilled. For better browning and flavor, spread butter on the outer surface of sandwich breads.
-
Place the sandwich maker on a flat, dry surface with space on all sides. Make sure it is closed and latched.
-
Plug in the unit. The red POWER light and green READY light will illuminate as the unit begins preheating.
NOTE: When using the sandwich maker for the first time, a slight odor or smoking might occur. This is normal and will dissipate with use. -
When the sandwich maker is fully heated, after about 1½ minutes, the green READY light will turn off, indicating it is ready to use.
-
Open the lid by gently pulling the bottom of the latch away from the unit. Lift the lid, being careful not to touch the hot interior. If desired, use a non-aerosol nonstick spray or brush the plates with a small amount of cooking oil instead.
NOTE: Never use aerosol spray on the sandwich maker’s cooking plates. It will cause buildup over time, which may cause sticking. -
Carefully place your sandwich on the bottom cooking plate, making sure it is lined up with the borders of the sandwich grid. If cooking more than one sandwich, make sure they are of similar thickness for even cooking.
-
Close the lid. Gently press the handle down to ensure the lid rests evenly on top of the food. Do NOT press the handle down too much, as this can crush foods or cause sandwich fillings to leak out. NOTE: The green READY light will cycle on and off during cooking as the unit maintains temperature.
-
Cook until the food is heated to your liking. Cook times will vary depending on the type of food being made.
-
When cooking is complete, open the lid and carefully remove the food using a silicone or wooden spatula or tongs. (Do not use metal utensils, as they can scratch the nonstick surface.)
-
If you’d like to continue cooking, brush away any crumbs or food residue left on the plates, then close the lid. Let the unit reheat until the green READY light turns back off, then repeat steps 5-9.
-
When finished cooking, unplug the sandwich maker to turn it off. Let it cool completely before cleaning and storing in a cool,
dry place.
COOKING TIPS
- Preheat the sandwich maker closed for best results. (Heat dissipates when preheating the unit open, so preheating will take longer.)
- To make crispier, more flavorful sandwiches, brush the outside of your bread with oil or butter before grilling.
- Crispiness also depends on the fillings you use—fillings with a lot of moisture can result in a soggier sandwich. To avoid this, add breadcrumbs to moist fillings to absorb the excess liquid, or use thicker slices of bread.
- For flatter sandwiches, press the handle down gently several times while cooking. Do NOT overpress, as this can cause fillings to leak out.
- Experiment with a variety of breads and fillings. You can make sweet or savory sandwiches based on your choice of fillings, and you can use all types of bread, such as bagels, brioche, pita, and more (keep in mind they may not form sealed pockets like regular bread does). If using rounded breads like bagels, try flipping them inside out so the flat surface of the bread contacts the grill.
- The sandwich maker’s unique plates are great for cooking and experimenting with a variety of foods. Try filling the plates with scrambled eggs and adding fillings, such as cooked meat or cheese, for perfect mini omelets, or crack eggs directly into the plates for easy fried eggs.
- For easy, delicious French toast, soak thick bread in a mixture of beaten eggs, milk, and a little sugar. Remove the bread from the egg mixture, letting the excess drip back into the bowl, then place the soaked bread in the sandwich maker and cook.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- With its nonstick plates, the sandwich maker is super easy to clean.
-
Unplug the unit when done and let it cool completely before cleaning.
-
Wipe the cooking plates with a dry paper towel to absorb excess oils. Use a soft bristle brush, such as a pastry brush, to brush any loose crumbs from the grooves.
-
Wipe down the cooking plates with soap and a damp cloth or sponge. Dry completely.
-
Gently wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth or paper towel, if necessary. Dry completely.
CAUTION: Never immerse the sandwich maker, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid; do not use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the finish. -
Close the lid and lock the latch. Loosely wrap the power cord around its holder on the bottom of the unit and store the unit upright to save space.
