LIGHTRONICS AK1002 Unity Architectural Lighting Control

Product Information

The AK Series (AK1002/AK1003/AK1005) Architectural Remote Stations are wall- mounted, multi scene remotes designed for use with the Lightronics LitNet architectural control system. These remote units are compatible with the AR/AB/RA series of architectural dimmers and the SR/SC architectural scene controllers. Each button on the remote activates a complete lighting scene, with LED indicators indicating the active scene.

Product Usage Instructions

INSTALLATION

  • Ensure all power is removed from the LitNet host(s) before making connections.
  • Mount the AK Series remote into a standard single gang wall switch box.
  • Connect the remote to the LitNet host using a shielded four-conductor cable arranged as two twisted pairs.
  • One pair carries the data signals, while the other pair provides common and power to the remotes.
  • Note: It is possible to order the AK Series remotes with special factory programming to operate with different scene numbers.

CAUTION
Remove all power from the LitNet host(s) before making connections.
AK Series units connect to the LitNet host via a shielded four conductor cable arranged as two twisted pairs. One pair carries the data signals. The other pair provides the common and power to the remotes. To ensure the first scene is at the top, install the AK with the connector at the lower left side when viewed from the back. See the CONNECTOR WIRING diagram for details.

SINGLE REMOTE: Connect the four cable wires to the screw down terminals on the back of the unit. Connect the cable shield to the REMOTE COMMON terminal.
The other end of the cable connects to the host by different methods. Refer to the respective host product owner’s manual for complete wiring details.

MULTIPLE REMOTES: Follow the instructions for a single unit for the first AK Series remote. Connect the terminals from the first unit to the corresponding terminals of the second unit in a daisy chain fashion. Additional remote stations can be added in the same manner.
Do not wire multiple AK remotes directly to the host similar to a home run or star network.

Operation

  • The AK Series remotes are available in three models: AK1002 (2 Scenes), AK1003 (3 Scenes), and AK1005 (5 Scenes).
  • Scenes activated by the remotes are set up and stored in the LitNet host. The remotes simply instruct the host to activate specific scenes.
  • To activate a scene, press the corresponding button on the remote. The selected scene LED indicator will light up.
  • Pressing the same scene button again will deactivate the scene.
  • Multiple scenes can be combined together based on scene settings made in each LitNet host.

No setup or turn on procedure is needed. When the LitNet host is powered on, the AK will also be powered. If communication with the LitNet host cannot be established, an AK will appear to be repeatedly scanning through all scenes. Scenes to be activated by an AK must have already been created and stored in the LitNet host. See the host product owner’s manual for instructions on programming scenes. If a scene is activated from an “OFF” condition, the selected scene LED indicator will light. Pressing that scene button again will deactivate the scene. Multiple scenes may be combined together based on scene settings made in each LitNet host. AK Series remotes are used with scenes starting at scene one (top button). The remaining buttons use the next consecutive numbered scenes. If multiple host units are used, the hosts will ALL use the same number scenes. It is possible to make AK Series remotes operate with other scene numbers, but the unit should be ordered with special factory programming to do so.

Maintenance and Repair

  • To ensure the first scene is at the top, install the AK remote with the connector at the lower left side when viewed from the back.
  • Refer to the CONNECTOR WIRING diagram for detailed instructions on wiring the remote.

Troubleshooting:

  1. If there is no indication or response from the remote station, check the Remote Voltage + and Common wire connections at both the host and remote.
  2. For a single remote, connect the four cable wires to the screw-down terminals on the back of the unit. Connect the cable shield to the REMOTE COMMON terminal.
  3. If the indicator lights on the remote station appear to be scanning across all scenes, check that the Data + and Data – wires are not reversed or disconnected.
  4. Ensure the LitNet host is set to UNIT ADDRESS 00. If there are multiple LitNet hosts, ensure only one of the hosts is set to UNIT ADDRESS 00. The rest should be set incrementally.
