Dear Customer
Thank you for choosing this quality, Univa Cooker Hood.
This User Manual contains important safety information and instructions on the
operation and maintenance of your appliance.
Please take the time to read this User Manual before using your appliance and
keep this book for future reference.

SAFETY AND WARNINGS
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury when using your appliance, follow basic precautions, including the following:
- Intended for indoor and domestic use only!
- Adequate ventilation of the room is required when the cooker hood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.
- WARNING! Refer to the instruction sheet for operating the appliance when air is discharged from the room
- Regulations regarding the discharge of air must be adhered to.
- Do not check the status of the filters while the cooker hood is in operation.
- To avoid injury, do not touch the light bulb within half an hour after use.
- Do not flambe under the cooker hood.
- Avoid opening the gasometer when there is no pan on the stove as this will damage the filters and is also a fire hazard.
- Hot oil is a fire hazard! Constant supervision is required when frying food.
- Disconnect the electrical plug prior to cleaning, maintenance, or repairs.
- The cooker hood must be installed above a hob with no more than four plates or burners
- When the range hood and other appliances supplied by energy, other than electricity, are in operation simultaneously, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 4 Pa (4×10¯5 bar)
- RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK! Do not immerse the unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- This appliance can be operated by anyone older than 8 years of age, except persons with reduced physical, mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge who may operate this appliance under supervision and/or have been given instructions concerning the safe operation of this appliance and the potential hazards that may arise from improper use. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are older than 8 years of age and under adult supervision. Children younger than 8 years of age must be kept away unless continuously supervised.
- WARNING: The appliance must be switched off before replacing the lamp to avoid the possibility of electric shock.
- WARNING: Do not allow anyone other than qualified service personnel to carry out maintenance or repairs as this will void the warranty.

Selection of Venting Direction
Fully convertible for vertical, horizontal, or ductless operation
Important!
The air must not be discharged into a chimney that is used for exhausting
fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.
Sufficient air is needed to allow combustion and exhausting of gases through
the chimney to prevent back drafting
Vertical discharge
Vertical is the most common.
If you select this venting direction, ONLY open the ducting knockout A.
Remove the ducting knockout by inserting a flathead screwdriver under one end
and prying it up.
Snip or break the attachment points with tin snips.
Ensure that Ducting B knockout is NOT removed!
Ductless installation
In a ductless installation the air is re-circulated back into the kitchen.
This method is recommended only if moderate cooking will be done.
It will not be necessary to remove any duct knockouts, other than knockout C.
Filters must be used to remove cooking odors.
The filter must be washed and replaced at regular intervals
Recirculation mode
Important!
Ductless fans must always be vented to the outdoors!
To select recirculation mode, remove the mode block at the position indicated
in Fig. 6.

Installation
Two people are required to install the cooker hood.
Tools required to complete the installation:
- Drill
- Flat head screwdriver
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Tin snips
- 3/8” nut driver / ratchet with extension
- Measuring tape
- Hand saw / jig saw
- Insulation tape
- Duct tape
1. Remove the hood from the carton
2. Lay the hood upside down on a table covered with cardboard or paper to prevent damage to the hood or table
3. Hood installation should be within 0.8m radius range
4. It is recommended that the bottom of the hood is no less than 650mm and no more than 750mm above the stove plates / burners
Important!
Installation and electrical wiring must be carried out by qualified personnel
in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.

Determine the position of the hood in the cabinet.
The wood strips must line up with the 4 keyhole slots on the top of the range hood. On the cabinet, install 4 screws (supplied) according to the relative position of the 4 keyholes on the bottom of the hood. -
Hang the hood and align the 4 keyholes with the screws, the 4 screws must be inserted in the narrow parts of the keyholes.
Tighten the screws firmly, ensure that the installation between the hood and the cabinet is firm -
For safe use, ensure the screws are inserted in the security holes to eliminate any movement of the hood.
Important!
When cutting or drilling into a wall or ceiling, take care not to damage
electrical wiring or any other utilities.
If the surface in the cabinet is inadequate to install the cooker hood, then
position the cooker hood on the wall as per Fig 5.
To ensure safe use, install screws in the security holes to avoid movement of
the hood.
OPERATION
Switch the hood ON when cooking or frying
- Adjust the knob to the correct position
- Attach a power plug if required
- Insert the power plug firmly
The fan has a 3-speed motor
To operate the fan at low speed, press 1.
For medium speed, press 2
For high speed, press 3
To switch off the hood, press 0
Replacing the bulb
Ensure power to the hood is switched off before removing and reinstalling the
new bulb.
The power of the bulb must not be more than 40W
Important!
Regular cleaning of the filters is required to avoid build-up of grease which
will impact ventilation performance.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
- The surface f the hood must be cleaned frequently. Use a mild soap or washing detergent.
- Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning materials.
- Avoid the use of scouring powders or dishwasher compounds.
- Grease filter may be washed using a mild soap or washing detergent. Heavy grease build-up can cause malfunction and will require replacement if not cleaned regularly
- Charcoal filters cannot be cleaned and must be replaced regularly.
Important!
Avoid water on the motor, control switches or any other electrical parts.
DISPOSAL
This product must not be disposed with other household waste.
To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled
waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse
material resources.
UNIVA WARRANTY
This guarantee is issued by Univa in respect of all products manufactured and
sold by Univa. The liability to Univa is limited to the following conditions:
- This guarantee operates in favour of the original purchaser of new appliances only and cannot be ceded, assigned or transferred. Univa shall have no liability in respect of second hand goods or to second or subsequent purchasers of any appliances.
- This guarantee shall operate for a period of Two Years from the date of original purchase of the appliance which date shall be proved to the reasonable satisfaction of a Univa authorized service Agent or consultant.
- The liability of Univa shall be limited to the repair or replacement by a Univa authorized service dealer in its sole discretion of the defective parts of the appliance at its sole cost. Univa shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by the customer or any other party or caused to the appliance arising from negligent use.
- Should the defective appliance be situated further than 50 km from the nearest Univa service centre or authorized service agent, Univa shall be entitled to charge its customer a travelling rate for such distance in excess of 50 km.
- The liability of Univa shall be limited in respect of defective parts or material or in respect of defective workmanship only. Univa authorized service agent shall have no liability if, in its opinion, the defect or fault was caused through faulty installation, accidental damage, incorrect usage, misuse or abuse, failure to follow the operating instructions, fire, flood, civil disturbances or any Act of God. The company shall not be responsible for damages caused by insect and/or animal infestation. Univa shall not be obliged to replace filters, light bulbs, fuses, vitreous enamelware, and any other items which Univa, in its sole discretion, determines that the life of such item depends on the amount of use and care taken in respect of such item.
- The guarantee shall become void and cease to operate if the appliance is dismantled by or any repairs to the appliance are affected by any persons not duly authorized by Univa, or if any non-genuine Univa parts are used in the appliance, or if the serial number of the appliance is removed.
- The product has been designed and manufactured for normal domestic use and the warranty will accordingly become void and cease to operate if the product is not used for domestic purposes.
- If the customer is unable to prove the date of purchase of the appliance to the reasonable satisfaction of the representative of a Univa authorized service agent or if no fault or defects are found in the appliance, a Univa authorized service agent shall be entitled to charge for the work done and travelling expenses incurred.
