In the PUR 4UF system, the connection of the tubes is made through a fast push-fit system, as follows:
To remove the tube, press on the “1/4 FE connection ring” in which the tube is
inserted and at the same time in the opposite direction, remove the tube.
3-way faucet installation
Preparation of the PUR 4 UF system:
- Unwrap the filter cartridges from the package and place the cartridges in the filter holder according to the installation diagram and the direction of water flow (indicated by arrows).
- Expanded PP cartridge next to the label inscirpted “PP,”
- The block of activated carbon cartridge next to the label inscirpted “CTO”,
- Cartridge with ultrafiltration membrane next to the label inscirpted “UF”
- Granular activated carbon cartridge next to the label inscirpted “GAC”.
Insert the cartridge in the holder, rotate it at 45 ° and place it in position
in the area corresponding to each – marked on the holder;
Caution: When mounting the cartridges, check the existence and correct
positioning of the 2 o-ring seals.
In order to maintain a clean environment but also to reduce pollution, Valrom
recommends that the filters who have reached their service life to be returned
to one of our work points in order to selectively recycle them.
This operation is recommended to be done once the customer purchases another
set of filters, or later, by sending them to one of our work points.
Dear Buyers,
Thank you for choosing an aquaPur® filtration system from VALROM Industrie, a
product designed for to ensure water quality in your home.
Please read these installation and operating instructions carefully before
use.
For further information please visit www.aqua-pur.ro;
www.valrom.ro
The PUR 4UF filter system is supplied with the following filter cartridges:
- 5 μm mechanical filter cartridge; PP
- activated carbon block filter cartridge; CTO
- 0.1 μm ultrafiltration membrane cartridge; UF
- granular activated carbon filter cartridge; GAC
CAUTION! If the PUR 4UF filtration system is used for drinking water, ensure that the water source is microbiologically safe.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF “PUSH-FIT” FAST COUPLING FITTINGS
In the PUR system, tubes are connected by a fast coupling system of the “push-
fit” type, as follows:
a. Tube connection (fig.4):
– push the tube into the “push-fit” “1/4 FE connection” (approx. 15-17 mm);
– pull out the tube to check the connection; it should remain in place;
b. Tube disconnection (fig. 5):
– press the “1/4 FE connection ring” in which the tube is inserted while
extracting the tube in the opposite direction.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
We recommend that the installation be done by personnel trained in the
execution/modification and repair of plumbing installations.
We recommend the installation of a pressure reducer at the water inlet to
avoid pressure fluctuations.
For connection of PUR systems to the cold water installation, follow the
“Installation diagram”:
- Fit the “Three-way connection piece and isolation valve” (1):
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
– turn off the water supply to the network;
– open the battery to remove the pressure from the system;
– connect the “Three-way connector and isolation tap” (1) to the cold water
supply pipe;
– with the isolating valve of the three-way connector in the “closed” position
(see valve marking: OFF “closed”, ON “open”), turn on the sink battery and
then turn on the water supply.
After the water has started to flow into the sink turn off the battery to
check the tightness of the mains after inserting the three-way connector and
isolation tap.
– Fix the system to the wall using suitable screws (not supplied in the
package);
At the bottom, a minimum space of 50 mm must be provided for the cartridge
extraction. .
Connect the tubes (for connecting/disconnecting the tubes see “Instructions
for use of fittings with pushfit” type quick-connect fittings – fig.4 /fig.5).
a. Connect the red tube;
– one end connects to the “Three-way connector and isolation valve” (1);
– the other end connects to the “PUR 4UF system” in place of the red
protection plug;:
b. Connect the blue tube:
– One end of the tube connects to the “filtered water battery” (10).
– the other end of the tube connects to the “PUR System 4UF” instead of the
blue protective cap;
5. Open the isolating valve of the connection piece, open the PUR 4UF system
battery and let flow for 5-10 minutes until clear.
When first used or changed, the block/granular activated carbon tends to
release a powder into the water until completely wetted. Therefore, at first
use or when changing the activated carbon cartridge block/ granular charcoal,
you should:
– remove the UF ultrafiltration membrane cartridge;
– let the water run until it becomes clear;
– replace the UF ultrafiltration membrane cartridge.
THE LIFE OF THE CARTRIDGES
- the mechanical filter should be changed every 3-6 months depending on the water quality;
- the block and granular activated carbon filter every 3-6 months depending on water quality;
- ultrafiltration membrane filter every 1 year depending on water quality.
NOTE
To change the cartridges follow the steps in the “Installation instructions”;
- DO NOT change the order of cartridges in the system – this will decrease the filtration efficiency; follow the (Fig.1) and the positioning written on the caps, as well as the direction of water flow, from right to left.
What happens in case of pressures other than recommended operating pressures?
At lower pressures than recommended, the flow will drop due to pressure losses in the filters. At higher pressures, the cup may leak or break.
What happens in case of temperatures other than recommended operating temperatures?
Lower temperatures may lead to a risk of freezing. At higher temperatures, there is a risk of deformation of thermoplastic components (the connection tubes will be the first affected by deformation).
What is the difference between activated carbon block and granular carbon?
The form factor. Granular carbon is shaped in the form of granules the size of a sand particle. In block carbon, the granules are sintered and take a solid form, with micron-sized interior gaps. Thus: activated carbon block - also has the capacity to retain solid sediments in excess of 10 μm - only effective in filtering pollutants. granular activated carbon - only effective in filtering pollutants.
Which are the types of pollutants filtered by PUR systems, depending on the cartridges they contain?
| Mechanical| Activated carbon block| Ultrafiltration membrane|
Granular activated carbon
---|---|---|---|---
Arsenic| –| –| –| –
Bacteria| –| –| +| –
Taste and smell| –| +| –| +
Chlorine| –| +| –| +

Heavy metals| –| o| –| o
Nitrite/nitrate| –| –| –| –
Sediments| +| +| +| –
Iron and manganese| –| o| –| o
Volatile organic substances| –| +| –| +
Hardness (Ca and Mg)| –| –| –| –
Key:

o limited effect
+ retains the pollutant
Why are the hoses of different colors?
To easily identify the flowing directions of the filters.
Why is the flowing direction through filters important?
Because the functionality of each filter is different and complementary with others.
Thus:
- the activated carbon filter retains the water dissolved components which give an unpleasant appearance, taste and smell; it may retain residual chlorine, potential carcinogenic halogenated derivatives from the chlorination of water, etc.
- the activated carbon block filter has the same features as granular carbon, but also retains micron-sized solid particles.
- the mechanical filter removes sediments.
WARRANTY
The warranty period is 24 months from the purchasing date, provided the
technical instructions specified in the manual are complied with.
The warranty does not cover consumables (cartridges) and defects which were
not reported during the warranty period or which are due to improper use.
The warranty is claimed based on a duly filled-in certificate of warranty and
