SAFETY

  • Only use the drum truck on firm, level, unobstructed surfaces which are capable of supporting the truck, drum and its contents.
  • Ensure you have a clear pathway to your destination.
  • DO NOT overload the drum truck – maximum capacity is 250kg.
  • DO NOT allow others to ride on the drum truck.
  • DO NOT use on tarmacadam. The drum truck must only be used on a concrete surface.
  • Replace or repair damaged parts. Use only genuine parts. Non-genuine parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
  • Use a qualified person to lubricate and maintain the truck. DO NOT use brake fluid to top up hydraulic unit. Use Sealey hydraulic oil only.

INTRODUCTION

Less manual effort required as hydraulic ram clamps drum, then raises it off the ground for simple manoeuvring and relocation. Cradle is fitted with two smooth rolling, heavy-duty wheels and one castor with brake. Suitable for 205L drums.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Place the hydraulic unit on the wheel base and attach using the bolts supplied,as shown in (figs.1&2).
  2. Insert handle into pump seat and line up the holes, attach with nut supplied (fig.3).
  3. Attach recoil spring and upper locator ring to plate, as shown in (fig.4).
  4. Insert discharge lever, through recoil spring, (fig.5), slide lower locator ring over lever, from below.
  5. Lower locator ring should sit just under the plate (fig.9).
  6. Fit slotted end of lever, over hydraulic release valve, as shown in (fig.6).
    • IMPORTANT! Ensure there is sufficient gap between lower locator ring and plate, preventing lever from sliding up off hydraulic valve, yet still allowing discharge lever to rotate fully. (fig.9).
  7. Turn the top locator ring, anti-clockwise, (fig.7) putting pressure on the return spring, then tighten screw to hold in place (fig.8). Discharge lever should turn fully, lowering the hydraulic ram. When released, lever should return to original position.

OPERATION

LIFTING A DRUM

  1. LIFTING A DRUM
  2. Turn the discharge lever (fig.1&10) fully clockwise to lower the hydraulic ram.
  3. Move the truck to bring the retaining bracket and retaining plate in contact with the drum.
  4. Depress the castor brake pedal to secure the unit in place (fig.11).
  5. Repeatedly depress the pump handle to raise the lifting frame so that the drum is between the clamp tooth and the retaining plate (fig.12). 5.1.5. Ensure that the retaining plate rests below the top rim of the drum as in (fig.12). Pull the clamp tooth operating lever (fig.13) towards you. 5.1.6. Ensure that the clamp tooth (fig.12) securely holds the drum.
  6. Continue depressing the pump handle until the drum is off the ground.

TRANSPORTATION

  • WARNING: Ensure that the drum position is as low as possible prior to moving the truck.
  • Pull/push the pump handle to move the raised drum. Turn the handle to change direction.

RELEASING A DRUM

  • WARNING: To avoid damage to the truck or the drum DO NOT turn the discharge lever rapidly.
  • SLOWLY turn the discharge lever (fig.1&10) anticlockwise and lower the drum until it stands firmly on the ground. Push the clamp tooth operating lever (fig.13) away from you to release the clamp tooth.SEALEY-DH01-V3-205L-Hydraulic-Drum-Truck-FIG-1 \(4\)

MAINTENANCE

  1. Regularly check the truck chassis and front wheels for rigidity.
  2. Ensure that the rear castor is firmly secured to the chassis.
  3. Regularly check the clamp tooth for wear. Replace when necessary.
  4. Regularly check the truck’s connecting components such as retaining pins, nuts and washers for lubrication and/or wear.
  5. If the performance of the unit degrades, it may be necessary to top up the oil, see lubrication point (fig.14). If performance is not improved, it may be necessary to bleed the system, see bleed point (fig.14).

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and dispose of the product and fluids according to local regulations.
