SAFETY
WARNING
Using a hydrofoil carries certain risks and may result in serious accidents or even death. This is why it is absolutely essential to familiarize yourself with this user guide before using a Tribord hydrofoil and to adhere to all instructions contained herein. We also recommend that you have some training beforehand.
INSURANCE
Before any activity, check that your insurance includes civil liability for towed, air-borne surf sports NAland sufficient cover for personal injuries (if no third party is responsible).
WHERE TO NAVIGATE
Choose your navigation spot according to your level: the choice of spot is
essential for a safe learning experience. The right spot isn’t necessarily the
most popular spot, particularly if you’re a beginner. When deciding on a body
of water, it’s important that you choose a spot suitable for foiling and your
skill level. You need deeper water for foilthan for kitesurfing or windsurfing
(see Section 6.) Choose a clear, open body of water that is free of reefs and
avoid over-populated spots.
Be aware of underwater hazards.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Wear suitable safety devices for rescue at sea when kitesurfing. Wear a protective vest, a suitable helmet and booties when attempting any foiling sport. This equipment will help protect you but you will still need to be cautious and alert.
IMPORTANT RULE
16+ It is important to know how to swim and be an advanced surfer before trying foil surfing. It is important to be able to carefully read and analyse conditions to spot dangers (particularly, and not exclusively: currents, shoals, reefs). Priority rules are the same as for surfing or SUP, follow them to the letter. You must comply with sailing rules and regulations. Not following these rules can have serious consequences. Respect a safety distance of 20 metres minimum with other surfers, swimmers, obstacles and any other hazards. If you fall, never leave the foil between you and the wave. Foiling is a dangerous sport; the design of the equipment and the speeds reached can result in serious injury to you or others.
RIDING CONDITIONS
ASSISTANCE
Don’t set off alone; make sure you’re accompanied by someone else who is riding with you or on the beach and who can notify the emergency services in the event of an incident. Check the weather before riding. Don’t foil surf in stormy weather. Watch out for tides and currents. Do not wing foil if the wind is blowing in from the land as it could push you out to sea. Do not wing foil if the wind pushes you towards a dangerous spot.
ASSEMBLING AND DISMANTLING YOUR FOIL
PLEASE NOTE
We recommend that you tighten the M8 screws to a torque of 14N.m and ~8N.m for the M6 screws. Use the wrench provided; don’t use an electric screwdriver or you could damage the threads.

ADJUSTING THE STABILISER
Lift recommended-Lift
HOW DO YOU ADJUST YOUR LIFT?
The recommended setting is with the stabiliser centred and the screw aligned
with the mark. Moving your stabiliser towards the rear will give the foil more
power and exert more pressure on the front foot. Moving the stabiliser towards
the front will make the foil less powerful and exert less pressure on the
front foot.
HOW TO POSITION YOUR FOIL
MAINTAINING YOUR FOIL AND COMPONENT PARTS
After every use, make sure you: After every use, dismantle and rinse all component parts and store them in the bag. Oil threads regularly.
