Berkey Water Filter Bottle

Product Information

• The product is a Straw Lid Bottle with a Straw Filter Element.
• The bottle can hold water and has a straw attached to it.
• The straw has a filter element that can remove excess carbon from the water.
• The filter element needs to be replaced after 640 refills based on the quality of the influent water.

Product Usage Instructions

Before First Use

It is important to flush the filter before using it for the first time. This will clear excess carbon from the manufacturing process. Follow these steps:

1. Pull the lid closure down so that the straw is exposed.
2. Fill the bottle with water.
3. Squeeze the bottle for 3-4 seconds to flush water through the filter and straw.
4. Repeat until the water runs clear.
5. The bottle is now ready to use.

Using Your Bottle

2. Screw on the lid and tighten it securely to prevent leaks.
3. To drink, pull the lid closure down to expose the straw. Squeeze the bottle to squirt water out of the straw into your mouth, or suck water through the straw, or use both actions together.
4. To close, simply pull the lid closure up to conceal the straw. This helps prevent drips or leaks while carrying.

Replacing the Filter

1. Unscrew the lid from the bottle.
2. Pull out the existing filter from the straw.
3. Push the new filter onto the straw.
4. Flush the new filter before using it by following the steps mentioned in the “Before First Use” section.

Cleaning and Storage

Periodically, remove the straw filter element and clean the bottle and straw with warm water and mild, unscented dish soap. If the straw filter element will not be used for an extended period of time, remove it from the straw and allow it to air dry. Once it is dry, place it back on the straw inside the bottle.

INTRODUCTION

The Sport Berkey® water filter bottle uses the same filtration formulation as our Black Berkey® Elements, which are used in our popular off-grid gravity-fed systems. The Sport Berkey® water filter bottle has been tested by multiple independent third-party labs for its ability to remove or reduce typical contaminants found in water. Test results showed up to a 99.9% reduction for typical contaminants found in water, such as heavy metals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, VOCs, petroleum-based products, unpleasant tastes and odors, silt, and sediment.

Precautions

• To prevent leaks, do not store filled bottles on its side or upside down.
• Do not allow the filter to freeze.
• Do not place a bottle or filter in the dishwasher or microwave oven.
• Do not run hot water through the filter.
• Make sure the straw is clean before using it. If the straw is dirty, or you suspect that the outside of the straw has come into contact with contaminated water, reclean the straw (see cleaning instructions on next page).

Usage & Storage

IMPORTANT! Flush Filter Before Use

3. Repeat until the water runs clear.
