- Ensure that the substrate (masonry) is properly tested for load-bearing capacity before assembly.
- Gather all the necessary parts and check for completeness. The following items are not included: 2x (H) Wooden laths 30x50x150 and 12x (I) Cross-slot screws 5×45.
- Choose whether to assemble the climbing wall with or without wooden laths.
- If assembling with wooden laths, mount the two wooden laths (H) to the wall. Make sure to use suitable screws and pay attention to the wall’s condition for secure mounting.
- Mount the climbing plate (A) to the wooden laths or directly to the wall if not using laths.
- Proceed to mount the climbing grips (F) using the provided screws and washers.
- If any climbing grips are not in use, seal them off using cap screws (G).
Maintenance Instructions
General inspection and maintenance should be carried out by qualified
personnel and documented according to EN 1176-7 standards. Written control
records should be created and kept.
Safety Instructions
- The climbing wall should only be assembled by suitably qualified personnel.
- Ensure that the substrate (masonry) has sufficient load-bearing capacity before assembly.
Care and Cleaning Instructions
No specific care and cleaning instructions are provided in the user manual.
Please refer to general cleaning practices for maintaining the climbing wall.
Information on assembly
The climbing wall may only be assembled by suitably qualified personnel. Prior to assembly, the substrate (masonry) must be properly tested so as to ensure adequate load-bearing capacity. The supplied fastening material is suitable for reinforced concrete walls. Suitable dowels and screws must be used on other wall types. Those climbing grips not in use should be sealed off using cap screws (G).
Place all parts in readiness and check to see that everything is complete.
Do I actually need laths?
First check your wall to see that the surface is even, i.e. make sure that the
climbing plate forms a level contact the whole way through before proceeding
to mount the plate to the wall! Also, check to ensure that the climbing plate
makes firm contact with the floor without the formation of gaps! Should your
wall turn out to be too uneven or in the event of the plate failing to make
proper contact with the floor – for example,, due to a skirting board – two
wooden laths will be required to act as a substructure!
Mounting the laths
First, the two wooden laths (H) need to be mounted to the wall (it will prove
advisable to use softwood for this purpose in order to counteract any uneven-
ness). Drill 3 holes into each lath (H) and the wall (the laths must assume a
central position in order
to correspond later to the drill holes on the climbing plate). Pay careful
attention not to drilling holes at points where the screws for the climbing
plate is intended to be placed! Drive the matching wall plugs into the wall
and fixes the laths (H) firmly in place by means of the screws (C). Ensure
that the structure of the wall is firm!
Assembly without wooden laths
Position the climbing plate (A) in front of the wall to serve as a guide for marking the holes. Drill the corresponding holes and drive the matching wall plugs into the wall. Mount the lower part of the snap caps (E) onto the 60 mm screws (C) and use these to fix the climbing plate (A) in place. Attach the snap caps (D) firmly in position so as to prevent these from working themselves loose when handled – listen out for the distinct clicking sound! Assembly with wooden laths
Position the climbing plate (A) in front of the laths (H) to act as a guide
for marking the holes. We recommend that the holes be pre-drilled using a
smaller 3 mm drill bit so as to prevent any splitting of the lath. Mount the
lower part of the snap caps (E) onto
the 45 mm screws (l) and use these to fix the climbing plate (A) to the laths
(H). Attach the snap caps (D) firmly in position so as to prevent them from
working themselves loose when handled – listen out for the distinct clicking
sound!
Mounting the grips
First, proceed to mount the grips in the desired position. Pins fixed to the grips serve to prevent these from twisting when loaded. Afterward, screw the grips from the front side into the captive nuts attached at the rear ( use the washers for the thin grips) – before tightening firmly in position. Using the shorter cap screws supplied, seal off those holes not in use. With the aid of the self-adhesive Velcro dots, attach the apples or flowers. These act as an incentive for young climbers. Be sure to attach the same side of the Velcro to the wall in each case as otherwise it will be impossible to attach all parts to each of the Velcro dots at a later stage!
Maintenance Instructions
Before placing in service for the first time the climbing wall must have been tested and approved by a qualified expert (knowledge of DIN standards applicable to children’s playing equipment mandatory)!
General Instructions on Inspection and Maintenance
All inspection and maintenance work as well as repairs must be documented – in accordance with EN 1176-7! Inspection documents need to be made out in writing and stored away for reference. Routine visual inspections (to be carried out at least once a week by suitably instructed person; daily inspection required if subject to frequent use). Inspection for detecting apparent sources of danger caused by potential vandalism or use.
- Cleanliness of the entire installation.
- Functionality, strength, and stability of playing equipment (trial run, shaking or vibration test).
- Check for danger points on playing equipment such as loose screws and bolts, wood splinters, protruding nails, exposed foundations or missing protective caps, etc.
- Check for damage to the playing equipment due to deformation, breakage or destruction.
- Operational inspection (at least once a month performed by the caretaker or a qualified expert).
- A more detailed inspection, exceeding the routine visual inspection, is needed for checking the proper functioning and stability of the equipment.
- Check the screw connections for intactness and tight fi t, replacing or tightening as required.
- Check the end caps/protective caps for completeness and tight fit, replacing missing caps where necessary.
- Check wooden parts for visible signs of mechanical damage, wear and tear, protruding splinters, larger cracks, and open knot holes.
- Inspect signage – checking to ensure that the rating plate is properly fixed in place.
- Replace components wherever required.
- Replace defective fastenings.
- Annual general inspection (to be performed by a qualified expert).
Safety Instructions
Bouldering (derived from boulder) is a term used to describe the scaling of boulders, rock faces, or climbing walls installed in indoor climbing halls at jumping heights without the aid of a rope or harness, the expression “jumping height” being individually interpretable. The climbing wall must at no time whatsoever be scaled without supervision. No sharp objects or other obstacles, windowsills, steps, etc. must be present in a falling area of 1.50 m around the equipment. In this area, a fall arrest or impact-absorbing base conforming to EN 1177 is absolutely mandatory (free fall height >645 mm)!
- For indoor use only!
- Not intended for domestic use!
- Only use under adult supervision!
- Suitable for children aged 4 to 14 years. Children under the age of 6 years need to be kept under extra special supervision!
- Climbing on a unit must be restricted to a maximum of 1 child!
- Children must never be allowed to proceed beyond the climbing walls!
- Climbing should be restricted to common exercises only.
- Pay careful attention to special potential hazards to which children are likely to be exposed due to incomplete installations, dismantlement or while maintenance work is in progress!
- Climbing walls are only to be used wearing sturdy footwear. Risk of injury!
Care and Cleaning Instructions
- Never use abrasive cleaners!
- Only wipe over with a spray-moistened cloth. Rub dry immediately afterward.
