TRUPER 13985 PROCO-20X Circuit Tester

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Verify that the tester lamp is holding the alligator clip securely on the negative (-) terminal of the vehicle and touching the positive () terminal of the battery with the test probe. If the test light comes on, the lamp is working. If not, replace the lamp.
  2. Turn on the component to be checked. (The ignition may need to be in the on or accessory position).
  3. Connect the alligator to a suitable ground (usually the vehicle frame or the point where the negative batterycable terminates).
  4. Perform the test by touching the component with the probe or by piercing the component’s wiring insulation
  5. If the tester light does not illuminate, then there is a fault in the circuit or no power is reaching the circuit.
  6. Repair any damage to the wiring insulation caused by drilling, using electrical tape or silicone

MAINTENANCE

Dust with a damp cloth before use.

TO CHANGE THE LAMP: Unscrew the retainer from the end of the clear plastic handle. Remove the contact spring that iS connected to the defective lamp. Remove the defective lamp from the contact spring. Replace the lamp by sliding the spring over the lamp glass and turning it slightly. Use a G.E. No. 1889 lamp or equivalent. Install the lamp and spring in the clear plastic handle so that the bottom of the lamp faces the probe. Screw the retainer back into the plastic handle.
