Product Information: Power Generator

The Power Generator is a motor-powered tool that has a rated
power of 18 Hp and a maximum starting power of 16 Hp. The generator
has a fuel tank capacity of 7.3 gallons and a fuel consumption rate
of 1.47 gallons/h. It has two cylinders in V, and the motor has a
displacement of 680 cc. The generator produces an output of 127 V /
220 V / 12 V.c.c with a frequency of 60 Hz. The generator has a
noise level of 97 dB at 13 ft and a work cycle of 30 min rest per
tank consumed during continuous work with rated power.

Fuel Requirements

The Power Generator requires unleaded fuel with a PON octane
equal or greater than 86, or a RON octane equal or greater than 91.
Contaminated gasoline or gasoline-oil mix should never be used. The
generator should not be turned on without oil, otherwise, the
engine could be damaged.

Fuel Requirements
· The generator is built with an air-cooled 4-stroke motor that runs with pure unleaded gasoline. · For no reason at all mix oil with fuel.
WARNING · For no reason at all use fuels mixed with ethyl alcohol (gasohol), ethanol or methanol. These substances could attract humidity thus causing separation and acid build up while in storage. Acidity can damage the motor fuel system when is stored. · To prevent problems with the motor drain the fuel system before storing the generator 30 days or longer. Drain the gasoline tank, start the motor and leave it idling until the fuel and carburetor lines are empty. Next time, use fresh gasoline. · Never use motor cleansing products inside the gasoline tank. It causes permanent damage.

General Safety Standards for Power Generators

Power Management
WARNING · Power generators produce dangerous voltage. Failure to insulate the generator from other power installations will hurt or kill third parties using power devices due to an electric shock.
WARNING · Do not handle the generator or power cables while standing on water, barefoot or with wet hands and / or feet. Water increases the risk of electric shock.
WARNING · The generator shall not be connected to other power sources like those from the utility services. In an emergency and when is strictly necessary to connect to these power sources only a qualified electrician may assemble the connection considering the differences between the power supply and the generator technical specifications.
CAUTION · Protection against electric shock depends on the circuit breakers homogenization. When circuit breakers need to be replaced go to a
Authorized Service Center to carry out the replacement.
CAUTION · The alternate current connections within the electric system shall be carried out by a qualified electrician complying with all the power codes and standards applicable.
WARNING · Unprofessional connections generate power discharges into the output lines. It can electrocute users or the power circuits and people touching the lines during a blackout. Before Operating the Generator

WARNING · Operate the generator ONLY

outdoors! Do not operate the generator in closed spaces.

The generator produces carbon monoxide, a highly toxic

odorless gas. Breathing the vapors cause nausea, make

people faint and even death.

CAUTION · Learn how to quickly turn off the

generator. Learn the function of all the controls.

· Keep at least 2 feet free space around the generator to

assure is properly ventilated.

· Set the generator onto a firm and leveled surface. Avoid

sandy or snowed surfaces. If the generator tilts over fuel

could spill out or sand, dust or water could enter into the

machine.

· Do not connect any devices when the generator is off.

Connect all the power devices after the generator is on.

· In the event there are questions or issues with the

generator please go to a

While Operating the Generator
CAUTION · Do not touch the exhaust while the generator is running. The exhaust temperature and surrounding areas could gp over 150 °F. Prevent burns. Let the engine cool down before manipulating or storing.
CAUTION · To assure an efficient and safe performance, do not force the generator. Use it within the levels it was meant for. Do not use any accessory to increase the generator capacity.
Fuel Handling
· Never smoke near fuel or the fueling area or when operating the generator! · To reduce the risk of fire or burns handle fuel with care. It is extremely flammable. · Gasoline or fuel shall never make contact with your skin. · Protect eyes to prevent them from fuel and oil spills. In the event of accidental contact rinse immediately with clear water. If irritation persists, consult your doctor. · Store fuel in a dedicated container.
WARNING · Before filling up the generator turn off the engine, place it onto clear ground and wait until the engine cools down.
CAUTION · Wipe all the spilled fuel from the generator before operating.
CAUTION · Check for fuel leaks and fix them before using the generator. Prevent fires and burns. · Under no circumstance burn spilled fuel to eliminate it. · Never use fuel different from the one specified in the Manual. · Have fire extinguishers on hand. Be prepared in the event a fire starts.

Wheels
· Fix the wheel set passing axis (A) through each wheel (B) and their respective mounting orifice (C) in the chassis. Secure the axis with the pin (D) and the washer ( I ).
Battery
· Connect the negative cable (with the black hood) to the battery negative terminal (-). Cut the binding securing the cable loose end to be able to connect it. · Connect the positive cable (with the red hood) to the battery positive terminal (+). · Verify the battery and generator connections are right, tightened and insulated. · The included battery id fully loaded.

Brakes
· Use a bolt and nut set to fix the brake mechanism (E) to the rear wheels on each side of the chassis. · Use the adjusting bolt (F) to adjust the height limit (G) so it makes contact with the wheel when the brake is set.

Grounding

· Ground the generator correctly specially if the unit is fit with

wheels to prevent possible power discharge due to ground

fault in the generator or in the connected devices.

Correct grounding also helps to dissipate static electricity

usually accumulated in non-grounded devices.

· Connect terminal (H) to the ground source ( ).

CAUTION · Do not connect into the commercial

power source.

CAUTION · Do not connect the generator into a

second generator.

WARNING · To prevent misuse of the power devices

Oil Supply
· Set the generator onto a flat and leveled surface. · Turn and pull the oil supply cap (A). · Use 4-stroke engine oil. Using SAE-10W-30 for general use under any temperature. Other viscosities can be used when the average temperature in your locality is within the range indicated in the following table.

· To check the oil level remove the oil dipstick (B) in the generator and clean with a clean cloth. · The oil tank has an approximate capacity of 0.39 gallons. Pour oil gradually and wait a couple of minutes so the oil can settle into the engine. · Insert the oil dipstick into the orifice. See if it shows the maximum oil level. · If the level is below the minimum, add oil until it reaches the maximum level on the dipstick. · Set the dipstick back into the orifice and tighten.
CAUTION · Checking oil level regularly is recommended. · When the oil tank is filled to the right level indicated in the dipstick, set back the cap (A) and tighten to prevent oil leaks.
CAUTION · Do not exceed the maximum oil level. The muffler may expel too much smoke when the engine starts.
CAUTION · Check oil level before each use. If necessary, add oil up to the limits in the dipstick.
CAUTION · Replace oil after each 50-hours operation. It may be necessary to change oil more frequently when dust or dirt are present.

Fuel and Oil

Operating at High Altitude

· The air-fuel mix in a standard carburetor is rich in fuel at

high altitudes. Performance will be low and fuel

consumption will be high.

· Performance while operating at high altitudes could

improve if the carburetor is regulated adjusting the main

bolt. The generator is set to operate in altitudes 6000 ft

above sea level. If the generator is not working efficiently

go to a

Authorized Service Center to

carry out the required modification to the carburetor.

· Although the carburetor has the adequate injection, the

engine potency will decrease approximately 3.5 % per each

1000 ft increment above sea level. Potency will decrease if

no modifications are carried out to the carburetor.

WARNING · If the generator is operated in an

altitude inadequate to the carburetor setting it could

perform poorly, overheat and the engine will be severely

damaged due to the excessive air mix in the fuel.

Fuel Supply

· Set the generator onto a flat and leveled surface.

· Using a funnel slowly fill up the fuel tank up

· Ground the generator. Disconnect all the power devices

from the connection panel.

· Turn the fuel stopcock into the ON position (A).

· Double check the overload thermal protector (B) is in

the OFF position. Move the lever down.

· Pull the choke valve (C) into the OFF position.

· Insert the key into the switch (D) and turn it into the START position.

· After the engine starts turn the switch back into the ON

position.

· When the engine runs in a stable manner push the

choke valve to the ON position. · Let the engine get hot and stabilize a couple of minutes to start connecting power devices.

CAUTION · Voltage between 2 phases (any phase) will always be 220 V CAUTION · Voltage between 1 phase (any phase) and Neutral will always be 127 V CAUTION · For security reasons always connect the ground in the terminal. Each phase of the 5P operation is shared with each of the 127 V polarized double sockets. Therefore, the total load shall be shared between each phase.

Devices Connection
· To activate the power output move the overload thermal protector lever (A) upwards. · After the generator is started connect the devices needed (B) into the connection panel.
CAUTION When connecting more than one device, connect and start those using a higher current first.
CAUTION Double check the devices do not exceed the generator rated power longer than 30 minutes and to never exceed the maximum load output. · To assure the generator can supply enough energy and run the power devices to be connected please follow the next steps to estimate the necessary watts and not exceed the generator capacity: 1. Choose the power devices to be connected simultaneously. 2. The amount of energy necessary to run all the devices is the sum of the watts rated power of those devices. The values of the addition shall not go over the generator capacity. 3. While starting, the power devices will produce large amounts of current. The devices shall start one by one. They shall not start simultaneously.
CAUTION To learn the rated power output, consult the table in the right side of the page as a reference or the technical specifications of each of the devices’ instructions.

Overload
CAUTION · If an important overload is present, the overload thermal protector will shut down. It is a possibility that a marginal overload will not shut down the thermal protector but will shorten the generator useful life.
CAUTION · If the thermal protector shuts down due to an overloaded circuit, reduce the circuit electric load and wait a couple of minutes before re- starting the thermal protector. · Each 127 V double – polarized socket is built with a 20 A thermal protector.

Maintenance

CAUTION · Regular and careful maintenance is essential to maintain the generator optimal safety and performance levels. · Before cleaning, repairing, inspecting or storing the generator turn off the engine and wait it completely cools down. · Keep nuts, bolts and screws adjusted to assure the generator is in a safe working condition.

· Do not modify the security devices. Regularly verify they work right. · Any worn or damaged part shall be replaced before using the generator. Do not try to repair the damaged parts. Can damage the generator and be a risk to your safety. · Any repairs or maintenance jobs different to those described in this section, for example, adjusting the carburetor shall only be carried out in a Authorized Service center.

Cleaning
· Use a damp cloth to clean the generator’s outer surfaces. · Use an air compressor (25 PSI) to remove dirt and residues. · Inspect all the ventilation and cooling slots to assure they are clean and with no obstructions.

Maintenance
Air Filter
· Check air filter to assure is in good repair. Remember, a dirty air filter can make starting difficult, loosing performance and shorten the engine’s useful life. · Remove the filter cover. Lift and release its two locks (A). · Disassemble the filter pushing the cover stoppers (B). · Clean both sides of the filter with 25 PSI compressed air. · If the filter has damage, humidity or is very dirty should be replaced. · Set back the filter assuring the filter tabs (C) assemble correctly with the cover stoppers. · Replace the cover by assembling the rear tabs (D) on the motor body. · Lastly secure the filter cover with the locks (A).

Oil Change
·The oil drain cap can be found under the engine (E). · Place a dedicated container under the generator to collect the oil. Remove the drain cap and then the oil dipstick (F) altogether with the fuel supply cap (G). When oil container is drained, set the drain cap back. · Clean any oil leaks or spills. · Fill the tank with SAE-10W-30 oil. · Check the oil level by placing the oil level dipstick without tightening it. Oil level shall be between the minimum and maximum marks in the dipstick. Double check the level is not exceeding the maximum mark. Tighten the oil supply dipstick and cap when the oil level is the right one. · Start the engine and leave it running briefly. Stop the engine, wait one minute and check oil level again. Refill if necessary. · Never, ever dispose of use oil in the gutter. Take used oil to a recycling unit.

Fuel Filter
· The fuel filter prevents water and dust present in the fuel tank entering into the carburetor. If the engine has not been started a long time, the sediment container shall need to be cleaned: · Shut off engine in ambient temperature and close the fuel stopcock (E). · Remove the sediment container (F). Clean the inside altogether with the filter (G). · Let filter and container dry completely. · Verify the washer (H) is in good condition and set back in place the sediment container and fuel filter. · The external fuel filter should be replaced according to the maintenance program indicated on page 12.

Unscrew the spark plug with the wrench included with the generator. · Clean carbon deposits from the spark plug electrodes with spark plug cleanser or a wire brush. · Replace spark plug with a similar one if worn, damaged or reusing it is not reliable. · Measure the gap between the two electrodes using a spark plug gauge. The distance between the center and side electrodes shall measure between 0.02″ and 0.03″ · Double check the spark plug washer is in good condition. Insert the spark plug manually to prevent misalignment. · After setting the spark plug adjust with a spark plug wrench to press the washer.
CAUTION If installing a new spark plug tighten up to half a turn after the spark plug is in place and the washer can be compressed. If setting a used spark plug tighten up to 1/8 ­ 1/4 turn after the spark plug is in place and the washer can be compressed.
WARNING Badly installed spark plugs or out of range can overheat and damage the engine.

Fuel Drain
· Set under the tank a dedicated container to receive gasoline. Use a funnel to prevent fuel spills. · Close the fuel stopcock. · Before setting the filter back open the fuel stopcock to drain the fuel tank empty. Once is drained set back the filter and sediment container. · Start the engine as indicated in page 9 to burn all remaining fuel in the system.

Storing and Transportation
· When moving the generator, turn off the motor switch and close the fuel stopcock. Keep the generator leveled to prevent fuel from spilling. Start the generator at leas every 2 weeks. Leave it running at least 20 minutes. · When storing the generator for long periods of time: 1. Drain completely all the fuel from the generator as indicated in the previous item. Then, start the motor until all fuel inside the motor is burnt. 2. Replace oil as indicated in page 13. 3. Remove the spark plug and pour a spoonful of SAE-10W-30 oil into the cylinder. Then set the spark plug. · Clean the generator with a damp cloth and cover to prevent dust entering and accumulating inside. · Store the generator in a clean, dry place out of the reach of children.

Troubleshooting

Problem
The engine does not start.

Cause
· The fuel stopcock is off. · Not enough fuel. · Loads connected to the a.c. contacts.
· There is no spark in the spark plug.

· Gasoline is not reaching the carburetor.

· Oil level is too low. · Thermal protection has not been reset.

Motor starts but it stops suddenly.

· Oil level is too low.

Solution
· Turn on the fuel stopcock. · Fill up fuel tank. · Disconnect any load from the generator.

· Verify the spark plug spark:

1. Disconnect the spark plug cable. Clean dust

around spark plug and remove it.

2. Connect the cable to the spark plug.

3. Turn on the engine switch.

4. Make contact with the spark plug central

electrode with any fuel – free metal part in the

motor. CAUTION Is important to make the

tests in ventilated areas and with no spilled fuel.

Otherwise an explosion can happen.

5. Insert the key into the switch and pull a few

seconds until the “START” position to generate a

spark between the spark plug central electrode

and the metal part. If there is no spark replace

the spark plug.

6. If there is no spark with a new spark plug go to

a

Authorized Service Center.

WARNING · Make sure that no fuel has been spilled before starting the engine, check that the area around the spark plug and the generator is dry. The spill of fuel or excess of steam could cause an explosion.

· Check oil level and add if necessary.

· If the engine cannot be started go to a Authorized Service Center
to repair.

· Check oil level and add if necessary.

The generator is not showing voltage in the output.

· Thermal protector has not been reset. · Some of the power devices are not working (For example, a lamp is not working).

· Go to a

Authorized Service

Center to repair.

· Check the status of the devices before

connecting them and repair any damaged device

before using it with the generator .

· Check that the thermal overload protector is in

the “ON” position.

Requerimientos de combustible
· El generador tiene un motor de 4 tiempos enfriado por aire que utiliza gasolina pura sin plomo. · Por ningún motivo mezcle aceite con el combustible.
ADVERTENCIA · Por ningún motivo utilice combustibles mezclados con alcohol etílico (gasohol), etanol o metano, ya que pueden atraer humedad, la cual provoca la separación y la formación de ácidos durante el almacenaje. La acidez puede dañar el sistema de combustible del motor cuando se encuentre almacenado. · Para no tener problemas con el motor se debe vaciar el sistema de combustible antes de almacenar el generador por periodos de 30 días o más tiempo. Vacíe el tanque de gasolina, arranque el motor y déjelo funcionar hasta que las líneas de combustible y el carburador se vacíen. La siguiente ocasión, use gasolina fresca. · Nunca use dentro del tanque de gasolina, productos para limpiar motores o carburadores ya que puede ocasionar daño permanente.

Advertencias de Seguridad para uso de generadores eléctricos

Manejo de electricidad
ADVERTENCIA · Los generadores eléctricos producen tensiones que pueden ser peligrosas. Si no aísla el generador de otras instalaciones eléctricas las personas que las utilicen pueden sufrir heridas graves e incluso la muerte debido a una descarga eléctrica.
ADVERTENCIA · No maneje el generador o los cables eléctricos mientras esté parado en agua, descalzo o con las manos o los pies mojados. El agua aumenta el riesgo de choque eléctrico.
ADVERTENCIA · El generador no debe conectarse a otras fuentes de energía como las del suministro de la compañía eléctrica. Para casos de emergencia en donde sea estrictamente necesario conectarse a éstas fuentes de energía, sólo un electricista calificado deberá hacer la conexión, considerando las diferencias entre el suministro eléctrico y las especificaciones técnicas del generador.
ATENCIÓN · La protección contra choques eléctricos depende de que los interruptores de circuito estén homogeneizados especialmente para el generador. Si los interruptores de circuito deben ser reemplazados acuda a un Centro de Servicio Autorizado
para su reemplazo. ATENCIÓN · Las conexiones de corriente alterna dentro del sistema eléctrico, deben ser hechas por un electricista calificado cumpliendo con todas las normas y códigos eléctricos aplicables. ADVERTENCIA · Las conexiones inapropiadas pueden generar una descarga eléctrica hacia las líneas de salida, que puede electrocutar a los usuarios que hagan uso de los circuitos eléctricos e incluso a otras personas que toquen las líneas durante un apagón. Cuando se restaure la electricidad, el generador podría explotar, quemarse o provocar incendios. · Aterrice debidamente el generador antes de arrancarlo. · El generador cuenta con un sistema de carburación automático que le permite operar a alturas superiores a los 2 000 m
Antes de operar el generador
ADVERTENCIA · Opere el generador ÚNICAMENTE al aire libre. No opere el generador en espacios cerrados. El generador produce monóxido de carbono: gas inodoro altamente tóxico. Respirarlo produce náuseas, desmayos o incluso la muerte.
ATENCIÓN · Aprenda a apagar el generador rápidamente, conozca la función de todos los controles. · Mantenga al menos 61 cm (2 pies) de espacio libre alrededor del generador, para su adecuada ventilación. · Coloque el generador en una superficie firme y nivelada: evite superficies arenosas o nevadas. Si el generador se vuelca o ladea puede derramarse el combustible, o podría entrar arena, polvo o agua al equipo.

· No conecte ningún aparato al generador apagado.

Conecte los aparatos después de haberlo encendido.

· En caso de que exista alguna dificultad, o si usted

tuviera alguna pregunta sobre el generador, consulte a un

Centro de Servicio Autorizado

Durante la operación del generador
ATENCIÓN · No toque el escape mientras el generador esté en marcha. La temperatura del silenciador y de las áreas cercanas pueden sobrepasar los 65 °C (150 °F). Para evitar quemaduras deje que el motor se enfríe antes de manipular o guardar el generador.
ATENCIÓN · No fuerce el generador. Úselo dentro del rango para el que fue diseñado para asegurar un trabajo eficiente y seguro. No utilice ningún aditamento para incrementar la capacidad del generador.

Manejo de combustible
· Nunca fume cerca del combustible, ni de la zona en donde se abastezca de la gasolina, ni al operar el generador. · Para reducir el riesgo de incendio o quemaduras maneje el combustible con cuidado, es muy inflamable. · No permita que la gasolina o el aceite tengan contacto con la piel. · Protéjase los ojos para evitar salpicaduras de la gasolina y el aceite. En caso de contacto accidental lávelos inmediatamente con agua limpia. Si persiste la irritación acuda a un médico. · Almacene el combustible en un recipiente diseñado para tal fin.
ADVERTENCIA · Antes de reabastecer el generador de combustible apague el motor, colóquelo en suelo despejado y espere a que el motor se enfríe.
ATENCIÓN · Limpie todo el combustible que pueda haber caído en el generador antes de operarlo.
ATENCIÓN · Revise si hay fugas de combustible, de ser así corríjalas antes de usar el generador, para evitar incendios o lesiones por quemadura. · Bajo ninguna circunstancia queme el combustible derramado para eliminarlo. · Por ningún motivo utilice cualquier otro tipo de combustible que el especificado en el instructivo. · Tenga siempre extintores de incendio a la mano y manténgase preparado en caso de iniciarse un incendio.

· Instale el juego de ruedas haciendo pasar el eje (A) por cada rueda (B) y su respectivo orificio de montaje (C) en el chasis. Asegure el eje con el pasador (D) y la rondana ( I ).
Batería
· Conecte el cable negativo (con capuchón negro) a la terminal negativa de la batería (-). Corte el amarre que asegura el extremo suelto del cable para poder conectarlo. · Conecte el cable positivo (con capuchón rojo) a la terminal positiva de la batería (+). · Verifique que las conexiones a la batería y al generador sean las correctas, estén bien apretadas y aisladas. · La batería incluida con el generador tiene carga completa.

Freno
· Use un juego de pernos y tuercas para fijar un mecanismo de freno (E) en las llantas traseras de cada lado del chasis. · Utilice el perno de ajuste (F) para ajustar la altura del tope (G) de tal forma que haga contacto con la rueda cuando el freno esté puesto.

Frenos activados

Puesta a tierra

· El generador debe estar conectado a tierra adecuada para

prevenir posibles descargas eléctricas en caso de existir una

condición de pérdida a tierra en el generador o en los

dispositivos eléctricos conectados, especialmente cuando la

unidad está equipada con un juego de ruedas. La puesta a

tierra correcta también ayuda a disipar la electricidad estática,

que a menudo se acumula en los dispositivos que no tienen

tierra.

· Conecte la terminal (H) a la fuente de tierra ( ) para

aterrizar el generador.

ATENCIÓN · No lo conecte a la salida de electricidad

comercial.

ATENCIÓN · No lo conecte a otro Generador.

ADVERTENCIA · Para evitar el mal uso del equipo

eléctrico, el generador debe de estar aterrizado. No nos

hacemos responsables de daños al equipo ni de lesiones

personales ocasionadas por no instalar esta medida de

seguridad antes de operar el generador.

Combustible y aceite

Abastecimiento de aceite
· Coloque el generador en una superficie plana y nivelada. · Gire y retire el tapón para abastecimiento de aceite (A). · Utilice aceite para motor de 4 tiempos. Se recomienda aceite SAE-10W-30 para uso general a cualquier temperatura. Como se indica en la siguiente tabla, otras viscosidades podrán utilizarse cuando la temperatura promedio en su localidad se encuentre dentro del rango indicado.

· Retire la varilla de nivel de aceite (B) que se encuentra del otro lado del generador y límpiela con un paño limpio para revisar el nivel de aceite. · El tanque de aceite tiene una capacidad aproximada de 1.5 L coloque el aceite de forma gradual y espere un par de minutos a que este se asiente en el motor. · Inserte la varilla del nivel de aceite en el orificio y revise si el nivel de aceite está en el nivel máximo de aceite. · En caso que el nivel esté por debajo del nivel mínimo, añada aceite hasta que llegue al nivel máximo de la varilla. · Coloque la varilla en el orificio y apriétela.
ATENCIÓN · Es recomendable revisar el nivel de aceite regularmente. · Una vez que el tanque tenga el nivel correcto de aceite indicado en la varilla, coloque de nuevo el tapón (A) y aprietelo para evitar fugas.
ATENCIÓN · No exceda el nivel máximo de aceite, ya que puede salir mucho humo del silenciador cuando arranque el motor.
ATENCIÓN · Revise el nivel de aceite antes de cada uso. De ser necesario agregue aceite hasta que el nivel se encuentre entre los límites de la varilla del nivel de aceite.
ATENCIÓN · Cambie el aceite después de 50 horas de operación. En condiciones de mucho polvo o suciedad puede ser necesario hacer el cambio de aceite más a menudo.
Abastecimiento de combustible
· Coloque el generador en una superficie plana y nivelada. · Limpie y seque el área alrededor de la tapa del combustible. · Retire la tapa del combustible (C). · Con ayuda de un embudo llene el tanque de combustible lentamente hasta la parte baja del cuello del tanque. No llene demasiado para permitir la expansión del combustible y evitar derrames (D). · Limpie cualquier derrame de combustible. · Tape el tanque girando la tapa hasta escuchar un clic. · Limpie todo derrame de combustible antes de encender.

Operación a gran altitud
· A una gran altitud, la mezcla aire-combustible del carburador estándar será rica en combustible. El desempeño disminuirá y el consumo de combustible aumentará. · El desempeño durante una operación a gran altitud podrá mejorar si se regula el carburador ajustando el perno principal. El generador está ajustado para operar a altitudes superiores a 1820 metros (6000 pies) sobre el nivel del mar. Si nota que el generador no opera de manera eficiente, acuda a un Centro de Servicio Autorizado
para que se realicen las modificaciones correspondientes al carburador. · Aunque el carburador cuente con una inyección adecuada, la potencia del motor disminuirá aproximadamente 3,5% por cada incremento de 305 m (1 000 pies) después de 2 100 m (6 890 pies) sobre el nivel del mar. La disminución de potencia, será mayor si no se realizan modificaciones al carburador.
ADVERTENCIA · Si el generador es operado a una altitud inadecuada al ajuste del carburador, se podría obtener un bajo rendimiento, sobrecalentamiento y daños graves al motor provocados por la mezcla excesiva de aire en el combustible.

Puesta en marcha

Conexión de dispositivos
· Para activar las salidas de tensión mueva la palanca del protector térmico de sobrecarga (A) hacia arriba. · Después de haber arrancado el generador conecte los dispositivos que necesite (B) en los contactos del panel de conexión.
ATENCIÓN Si conecta más de un dispositivo conecte y encienda primero los que utilicen una corriente más alta para su arranque.
ATENCIÓN Verifique que los dispositivos no excedan la corriente nominal de generador por más de 30 minutos y que nunca excedan la máxima salida de carga. · Para asegurarse que el generador pueda suministrar suficiente energía para arrancar y hacer funcionar los dispositivos eléctricos que vayan a conectarse siga los siguientes pasos para calcular los watts necesarios y así no sobrepasar la capacidad del generador: 1. Determine los dispositivos eléctricos que se conectarán al mismo tiempo. 2. La cantidad de energía necesaria para hacer funcionar todos los dispositivos es la suma de energía nominal de watts de esos dispositivos. Los valores de las sumas no deben rebasar la capacidad del generador. 3. Durante el encendido los aparatos eléctricos producirán grandes corrientes por lo que los dispositivos se deben encender de uno en uno, estos no deben arrancar al mismo tiempo.
ATENCIÓN Para saber la salida nominal de los dispositivos consulte la tabla de la derecha como referencia o las especificaciones técnicas de cada uno de sus instructivos.

Sobrecarga
ATENCIÓN · Si existe una sobrecarga importante, el protector térmico de sobrecarga se apagará. Es probable que una sobrecarga marginal no apague el protector térmico, pero reducirá la vida útil del generador.
ATENCIÓN · Si se apaga el protector térmico por un circuito sobrecargado, reduzca la carga eléctrica del circuito y espere unos minutos antes de reiniciar el protector térmico. · Cada contacto doble polarizado de 127 V cuenta con un protector térmico de 20 A

Mantenimiento

ATENCIÓN · El mantenimiento regular y cuidadoso es esencial para mantener los niveles de seguridad y el desempeño óptimos del generador. · Antes de limpiar, reparar, inspeccionar o guardar el generador, apague el motor y espere a que el motor se enfríe por completo. · Mantenga tuercas, pernos y tornillos ajustados para asegurarse de que el generador se encuentre en una condición de trabajo segura.

· No altere los dispositivos de seguridad. Verifique su

correcto funcionamiento regularmente.

· Cualquier parte gastada o dañada debe de ser

reemplazada antes de utilizar el generador. No intente

reparar las piezas, pues pueden dañar el generador y

poner en riesgo su seguridad.

· Cualquier reparación o mantenimiento distintos a los

descritos en esta sección, como por ejemplo el ajuste del

carburador, debe ser realizado únicamente en un Centro

de Servicio Autorizado

Limpieza
· Use un trapo húmedo para limpiar las superficies exteriores del generador. · Use un compresor de aire 172.3 kPa (25 PSI) para quitar suciedad y residuos. · Inspeccione todas las ranuras de ventilación y enfriamiento para asegurar que estén limpias y sin obstrucciones.

Mantenimiento
Filtro de aire
· Revise el filtro de aire para asegurarse de que esté en buenas condiciones. Recuerde que un filtro sucio puede causar dificultades de arranque, pérdida de rendimiento y acortar la vida útil del motor. · Retire la cubierta del filtro del aire levantando y liberando sus dos seguros (A). · Desmonte el filtro empujando los topes de la cubierta (B). · Limpie con aire comprimido a 172.3 kPa (25 PSI) el filtro por ambos lados. · Si el filtro presenta daño, humedad o esta muy sucio deberá cambiarse. · Coloque nuevamente el filtro asegurándose que las pestañas del filtro (C) ensamblan correctamente con los topes de la cubierta. · Colocar nuevamente la cubierta ensamblando las pestañas traseras (D) en el cuerpo del motor. · Finalmente asegure la cubierta del filtro con los seguros (A).

Cambio de aceite
· El tapón de drenaje de aceite se localiza debajo del motor (E). · Coloque un contenedor adecuado debajo del generador para recibir el aceite, retire el tapón de drenaje y después la varilla del nivel de aceite (F) junto con el tapón para abastecimiento de aceite (G). Una vez que se vacíe el aceite, vuelva a colocar el tapón de drenaje. · Limpie cualquier derrame o salpicadura. · Rellene el tanque con aceite SAE-10W-30. · Revise el nivel de aceite colocando la varilla del nivel de aceite sin apretarla. El nivel de aceite debe estar entre las marcas mínimo y máximo de la varilla. Asegúrese de que el nivel no exceda la marca de máximo. Apriete la varilla y el tapón para abastecimiento de aceite cuando el nivel sea el adecuado. · Arranque el motor y permita que corra brevemente. Detenga el motor, espere un minuto y revise el nivel de aceite de nuevo. Rellene si es necesario. · Por ningún motivo tire el aceite al drenaje. Lleve el aceite usado a una unidad de reciclaje.

Filtro de combustible
· El filtro del combustible impide que agua o polvo presentes en el tanque de combustible, entren al carburador. Si el motor no se ha encendido después de mucho tiempo, el contenedor de sedimentos deberá limpiarse: · Con el motor apagado y a temperatura ambiente cierre la llave de combustible (E). · Retire el contenedor de sedimento (F), limpie su interior junto con el filtro (G). · Permita que el filtro y contenedor se sequen por completo. · Verifique que el empaque (H) se encuentre en buenas condiciones y vuelva a colocar el contenedor de sedimentos y el filtro de combustible en su lugar. · El filtro de combustible externo deberá cambiarse de acuerdo al programa de mantenimiento indicado en la página 12.

Mantenimiento
Bujías
· Antes de extraer las bujías, limpie el área alrededor de la base de la bujía para que no ingresen polvo ni desechos al motor. Retire la tapa de la bujía y después desatornille la bujía con la llave que se incluye con el generador. · Limpie los depósitos de carbón de los electrodos de la bujía con un limpiador para bujías o un cepillo de alambre. · Reemplace la bujía por otra igual si está dañada, desgastada o su reutilización es dudosa. · Mida la abertura que existe entre los dos electrodos con un calibrador de bujías. La distancia entre el electrodo central y el electrodo lateral deberá medir entre 0.7 mm y 0.8 mm · Revise que la arandela de la bujía está en buenas condiciones, inserte la bujía manualmente para prevenir una posición desajustada. · Después que se haya colocado la bujía, ajústela con la llave para bujías para comprimir la arandela.
ATENCIÓN En caso de instalar una bujía nueva, apriete hasta media vuelta después que la bujía esté en su lugar y se pueda comprimir la arandela. Si va a instalar una bujía usada, apriete hasta 1/8 – 1/4 de vuelta después que la bujía esté en su lugar y se pueda comprimir la arandela.
ADVERTENCIA Las bujías mal instaladas o fuera de rango se pueden sobrecalentar dañando el motor.

Drenado de combustible
· Coloque debajo del tanque un contenedor adecuado para recibir gasolina y utilice un embudo para evitar que se salpique el combustible. · Con la llave del combustible cerrada retire y limpie el filtro de combustible. · Antes de colocar el filtro abra la llave de combustible para drenar todo el contenido del tanque de combustible. Una vez drenado coloque el filtro y el contenedor de sedimentos. · Arranque el motor como se indica en la página 9 para consumir el combustible restante del sistema.

Almacenaje y transporte
· Cuando mueva de lugar el generador, apague el interruptor del motor y cierre la llave de combustible, mantenga nivelado el generador para prevenir que se derrame combustible. Se debe arrancar el generador por lo menos cada 2 semanas y dejarlo funcionar por lo menos 20 minutos. · Cuando almacene el generador por periodos largos: 1. Drene por completo todo el combustible del generador como se indica en el apartado anterior. Después arranque el motor hasta que se consuma todo el combustible del interior del motor. 2. Reemplace el aceite como se indica en la página 13. 3. Retire la bujía y vierta una cucharada de aceite SAE-10W-30 en el cilindro. Después coloque la bujía. · Limpie el generador con un trapo húmedo y cúbralo para evitar la acumulación y entrada de polvo. · Almacene el generador en un lugar limpio, seco y fuera del alcance de los niños.

Solución de problemas

Problema
El motor no arranca.

Causa

Solución

· La llave de combustible esta en posición “OFF” (apagado). · No hay suficiente combustible. · Cargas conectadas en los contactos c.a.

· Coloque la llave de combustible en posición “ON” (encendido). · Llene el tanque de combustible. · Desconecte cualquier carga del generador.

· No hay chispa en la bujía.

· Verifique la chispa de la bujía:

1. Desconecte el cable de la bujía, limpie el polvo

alrededor de la bujía y retírela.

2. Conecte el cable a la bujía.

3. Encienda el interruptor del motor.

4. Ponga en contacto el electrodo central de la

bujía con cualquier parte metálica del motor libre

de combustible. ATENCIÓN Es importante

realizar la prueba en áreas ventiladas y sin

combustible derramado, de lo contrario podría

ocasionar una explosión.

5. Inserte la llave en el interruptor y gírelo unos

segundos hasta la posición de “START” para

generar una chispa entre el electrodo central de

la bujía y la parte metálica. De no haber chispa la

bujía debe reemplazarse.

6. En caso de que no se produzca chispa con la

bujía nueva acuda a un Centro de Servicio

Autorizado

.

· La gasolina no está llegando al carburador.

ADVERTENCIA · Verifique que no se haya derramado combustible antes de encender el motor, verifique que el área alrededor de la bujía y del generador esté seca. El derrame de combustible o exceso de vapor podrían causar una explosión.

· El nivel de aceite es muy bajo.

· Revise el nivel de aceite y añada si hace falta.

· No se ha reestablecido el protector térmico.

· En caso de que el motor no arranque acuda a un Centro de Servicio Autorizado
para su reparación.

El motor arranca pero · El nivel de aceite es muy bajo. se detiene repentinamente.

· Revise el nivel de aceite y añada si hace falta.

El generador no presenta tensión en las salidas.

· No se ha reestablecido el protector térmico. · Algunos de los equipos eléctricos no se encuentra trabajando. (Ejemplo: una lámpara no enciende).

· Acuda a un Centro de Servicio Autorizado para su reparación.
· Revise el estado de los dispositivos antes de conectarlos repare cualquier dispositivo dañado antes de usarlo con el generador. · Verifique que el protector térmico de sobrecarga se encuentre en la posición de encendido ” ON “.
