MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL SURFACES:

Dansani bathroom furniture is produced from materials that are well-suited for bathrooms. It is, however, important to ensure good ventilation and to place the furniture at a distance from the bath tub/shower to avoid splashes of water and soap residues on the furniture. Wipe the furniture dry if they are in a position to be splashed with water. This will ensure that the furniture retains its attractive appearance and the risk of damage is minimised. Dansani furniture is produced using particle and MDF board base components, then coated with a variety of surfaces to protect it from moisture damage. Please be aware that the warranty of the product no longer applies, and the risk of moisture damage increases, if alterations to the construction and/or of the design is made. For information about care and maintenance, please see the section below which is divided up according to the material. If you are unsure about the material used on your furniture, please contact your dealer or see the product information given on our web site www.dansani.co.uk.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MATERIALS COATED WITH PVC FOIL AND/OR MELAMINE AND LAMINATE:

We recommend cleaning with a soft cloth, wrung in hot water with a mild all- purpose cleaning agent. Furniture with structured surfaces is best cleaned along the structure to remove any dirt. Wipe with a damp cloth wrung in clean water to remove the cleaning agent and to avoid stains and stripes. Avoid using dry cloths and paper tissue for furniture with matt and high-gloss surfaces, as these may scratch the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or cleaning agents that contain ammonia, bleach or other strong solvents as these will damage the furniture. We also advise against the use of furniture polish, acetone, ethanol, benzine and coarse cleaning sponges.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LACQUERED SURFACES:

Furniture with a lacquered surface is best maintained by regularly cleaning, and at the same time ensure that spots or marks are removed as fast as possible. Lacquer reacts by prolonged contact with certain greases and abrasives found in creams as well as toothpaste. We re-commend cleaning with a soft cloth, firmly wrung in hot water with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent. Wipe with a damp cloth wrung in clean water to remove the cleaning agent and to avoid stains and stripes. Avoid using dry cloths and paper tissue for furniture with matt and high-gloss surfaces as these may scratch the surface. If the furniture has become unusually greasy or dirty, we recommend using the method described below. This is particularly relevant for surfaces treated with rubber lacquer.

  • Use a spray cleaner for bathrooms which removes grease and typical limescale marks. Most supermarkets sell products, which are well-suited for removing grease and limescale.
  • Spray the cleaning agent on to a damp cloth and wipe the sur-face. Never spray directly onto the furniture. We also advise against rubbing the lacquer as this may cause stains and da-mage.
  • Wipe the surface clean with a cloth wrung in clean water to remove the cleaning agent. This is to avoid stains and stripes in the lacquer.
  • We recommend restricting the use of the cleaning agent on the lacquer to a maximum of 5 minutes if left any longer it may cause damage.
  • Also see the instructions on the cleaning agent and if possible, test it on a spot that is not visible for example, on the inside of the front, before using it on visible places.

Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or cleaning agents that contain ammonia, bleach or other strong solvents as these will damage the  furniture. Never use furniture polish, acetone, ethanol, benzine and coarse cleaning sponges. Cleaning and care instructions for furniture made from solid wood or veneered wood: Wood is a living material and may vary in colour and structure. As the wood is subjected to light, the colour will mature and its tone will change. Variations in structure and tone on fronts and sides do not warrant claims.
Cleaning: We recommend cleaning with a soft cloth, wrung in hot water with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent. Furniture with structured surfaces are best cleaned along the structure to remove any dirt. Wipe with a damp cloth, wrung in clean water to remove the cleaning agent and to avoid stains. Remove any excess water with a soft cloth.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or cleaning agents that contain ammonia, bleach or other strong solvents as these will damage the furniture. We also strongly advise against the use of furniture polish, acetone, benzine and coarse cleaning sponges.
Care: Veneered furniture from Dansani is lacquered with a moisture-proof two-component lacquer, however, on-going use of the care instructions below will freshen up the tone of the wood, giving a saturating and water-repellent effect. We recommend that you treat the furniture once or twice every year according to need. Use a colorless Vaseline oil without hardening agent. The oil may be called paraffin oil, but most importantly, it must be colorless.
We recommend using the following method:

  •  Wipe dust off the surface using a firmly wrung cloth to ensure that the surface is clean.
  • Leave the surface to dry for 5-10 minutes.
  • Pour the oil on to a cotton cloth (must be quite wet). Apply the oil in a thin layer using circular movements to ensure that it is rubbed thoroughly into the open pores.
  •  Leave the surface to rest for 3-5 minutes then wipe with a dry cloth, beginning with circular movements and finally by wiping along the grain to ensure that the surface is dry. The surface should now have a golden color.
  • Leave the surface to rest for another 5-10 minutes, then wipe with paper towel along the grain. It is important not to use colluder paper tissue as these may cause stains.
  • It is important to ensure that oil residues are not left on the surface, otherwise it will become sticky.

MIRRORS/MIRROR CABINET:

Mirrors without frames should be cleaned using ordinary window cleaning products and a soft microfiber cloth to obtain the best result. After the cleaning we recommend that the mirrors and mountings on the mirror cabinet are wiped off thoroughly so that the surplus of cleaning detergents is removed. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or cleaning agents that contain ammonia, bleach or other strong solvents as these may damage the mirror. We also advise against the use of cleaning sponges and paper tissue as these may cause scratches. For framed mirrors it is important not to use spirit based cleaning agents, in case they come into contact with the frame. Some window cleaning products contain spirits and must not be used as these may damage the surface. We recommend that you use a soft microfiber cloth ,wrung in hot water with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent to clean the mirror. Then wipe with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
SOLID SURFACE BASINS:

Solid surface is a strong polyester based composite material with a homogeneous surface. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth wrung in hot water with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent removes lime scale marks and other stains. Wipe the surface dry with a clean soft cloth. Do not subject the washbasin to acid, ammonia, drain cleaner or bleach, for stubborn marks or stains you can use abrasive materials e.g. 1000 grit sandpaper or coarse cleaning sponges. If the area that has been polished appears glossy, it can subsequently be ground with 800-grit and then 600 grit, and finished with a soft, dry cloth. Always start with 1000 grit. Do not subject the washbasin to water temperature above 70°C as the solid surface material may crackle.

PORCELAIN WASHBASINS:

The washbasins is cast in a material that consists of a clay mass with silica sand and coated with a glaze, which is then fired at approx. 1.200 °C. This gives a glazed, resistant surface which is easy to maintain. Limescale marks may be reduced by regular cleaning of the wash basin. We recommend cleaning with ordinary soapy water and wiping with a clean, soft cloth. Never use aggressive cleaning agents which contain strong solvents such as acid, chlorine, ammonia, drain cleaner, caustic soda or abrasive agents. We also advise against the use of coarse cleaning sponges. Do not subject the wash basin to water at a temperature above 70° C, as the glaze may crack.

MARBLE WASH BASINS:

The wash basin is cast in a cast marble material which has been specially developed for the production of sanitary products. The product is made from crushed marble , fixed by polyester and finished with a shiny gel-coat surface. Limescale marks may be reduced by regular cleaning of the wash basin. We recommend cleaning using a soft cloth, wrung in hot water with a mild all- purpose cleaning agent. Wipe with a clean, soft cloth. Do not subject the product to acid, ammonia, drain cleaner, chlorine, abrasive products or coarse cleaning sponges. Do not subject the wash basin to water at a temperature above 70° C, as the glaze may crack. If the surface becomes scratched, it may be polished using a fine polishing agent and subsequently treated with wax (e.g. car wax). Continued use of our care instructions should keep the quality of the product for many years. We recommend ”Clean & Shine” – a concentrated and effective wax shampoo which cleans the wash basin giving it a protective , shiny surface.

GLASS WASHBASINS:

The washbasin is produced from a clear low iron glass type painted white underneath and is cast at approx. 800 degrees. The washbasin appears with a strong, polished easy clean surface. Limescale marks may be reduced with regular cleaning using a soft cloth wrung in hot water added a mild universal detergent, and the washbasin will appear beautifully polished for many years. Do not subject the product to acid, ammonia, drain cleaner, chlorine, abrasive products or coarse cleaning sponges. Do not subject the washbasin to water at a temperature above 70° C, as the material may crack.

ALUMINIUM AND OTHER MATERIALS:

We recommend cleaning with a soft cloth, wrung in hot water with a mild all- purpose cleaning agent. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth wrung in clean water to remove the cleaning agent and to avoid stains and stripes. Finally, wipe the surface with a soft microfiber cloth. Never use cleaning agents that contain acid, abrasives or other strong solvents as well as hard cleaning sponges as these may damage the surface. Stub-born limescale marks can normally be removed using a solution of vinegar and water.
