MECHANICAL TRANSPLANTER CT-12 Heavy Duty Christmas Tree Planter
Product Information: Model CT 12 Transplanter
The Model CT 12 Transplanter is a machine used for planting crops such as vegetables, tobacco, and flowers. It is designed to be attached to a tractor’s 3-point hitch and is capable of planting two or three rows at a time. The transplanter comes fully assembled if picked up from the factory, but some assembly is required if it is shipped by truck. The transplanter has a planting depth gauge, drive wheels that also act as gauge wheels, and packing wheels that can be adjusted to gather more or less soil into the furrow. The spacing of the plants is determined by the number of pockets on the chain and by what spacing sprockets are on the unit.
Product Usage Instructions
-
If the transplanter was picked up from the factory, it is fully assembled and ready to run. If the transplanter was shipped by Aframe to the unit.
-
Hook up the transplanter to the tractor’s 3-point hitch and lift the unit up. Raise up the 3 pipe stands.
-
Lower the unit into the ground until the frame of the unit is running level. The shoe should be in the ground up to the flange or bend in the shoe.
-
The drive wheels also act as gauge wheels and are preset at the factory. They should not have to be readjusted unless unusual conditions are encountered.
-
The end of the pocket is the depth gauge for planting. Place the plants straight in the pocket with the roots out beyond the rubber gripper at the desired depth for the plants to be planted at.
-
Adjust the third arm on the tractor so there is float between the solid rod with the spring and the pickup plate. The rod and the plate must not touch while planting or it will take weight off the back of the unit. If more float is needed, lengthen the third arm slightly.
-
The weight brackets on the front toolbar should carry
approximately twice the weight as the rear weight bracket. Add as
much weight as is necessary to do a good job of packing the plants.
The heavier the soil, the more weight that must be added. -
Spacing is determined by the number of pockets on the chain and by what spacing sprockets are on the unit. To change the spacing sprockets, remove the two chain guards under the seats and replace the sprockets. The chain tighteners will have to be readjusted each time a different sprocket is put on the unit. Be sure to put the same size sprocket on both sides of the unit.
-
Reapply hardening rod as needed to greatly extend shoe life. Hardening rod has been welded on the bottom of each shoe side.
-
The packing wheels can be moved in or out as needed to gather more or less soil into the furrow.
-
In heavy sod or very hard conditions, it may be necessary to use the optional rubber tire packing wheels.
