Getting Started

  1. Detach the drip tray and lay it flat at the bottom surface underneath the nozzle for larger cups or macchiato glasses.
  2. Fill the water tank with cold water up to the Max/Min volume levels.
  3. Insert a capsule in the capsule inlet and close the lever.
  4. Press either the small cup or the large cup button. Your machine is desired when water comes out of the nozzle.
  5. Enjoy your perfect cup of coffee!

Changing the Brew Ratio / Cup Sizing

To change the brew ratio/cup sizing, press and hold either of the two cup-size buttons until the machine has outputted your desired amount of coffee. The memory function on each button will remember your set preferences for next time.

Daily Maintenance

Cleaning and airing the machine are essential to maintain its performance and extend its lifespan.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the machine with a damp cloth after each use to remove any coffee residue. The drip tray, capsule container, and water tank are all removable and can be washed with soap and water.
  • Airing the Machine: After each use, open the capsule inlet lever and let the used capsule drop down into the capsule container. Leave the lever open for a few minutes to allow the machine to air out.

Descaling

The descaling process is necessary to remove mineral buildup and ensure that your machine continues to brew delicious coffee. The descaling alarm will be triggered after 1200 uses, and you should follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the descaling solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Empty the capsule container and drip tray.
  3. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution up to the Max level.
  4. Press both cup size buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to start the descaling process.
  5. After the process is finished, rinse the water tank and run a few cycles of water through the machine to remove any solution residue.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • This product has been designed for domestic use only. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility, and the guarantee will not apply in the event of any commercial use or inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions.
  • In the event of an emergency, immediately remove the plug from the power socket.
  • Remove the plug from the power socket if not in use for long periods.
  • Check that the voltage quoted on the rating plate matches your voltage.
  • Connect the machine to earthed power sockets only. An improper connection voids warranty.
  • Before cleaning, unplug the machine and let it cool down.
  • Never clean plug, power cord, or the appliance itself with wet cloth or immerse in any liquid.
  • This machine should only be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are aged from 8 years and supervised.
  • Keep the machine and its power cord out of reach of children aged 8 years or under. Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • Always lower the capsule inlet lever before brewing, and never lift it while the machine is in operation.
  • Do not insert fingers into the compartment or the capsule inlet.
  • Do not use the machine without the drip tray.
  • Do not fill the water tank with hot water.
  • Do not place the power cord near hot surfaces or sharp objects.
  • Never touch the power cord with wet hands.
  • Do not unplug by pulling from the cord.
  • Do not use the machine if it’s damaged.
  • To avoid any hazards, only allow Sjöstrand to repair the machine and replace the power cord.
  • Do not lift the capsule inlet lever during the descaling process.
  • Do not open the machine or insert anything into the openings.
  • All actions other than normal use, cleaning, and care must be performed by Sjöstrand.
  • Rinse the water tank and clean the machine to completely remove any residual descaling agents used.
  • Do not use the machine if it is not in perfect working order or if there is evidence of damage. In such cases, inform Sjöstrand customer service.
  • Operate the machine only on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surfaces away from water splashes and any heat sources.
  • For environmental protection, make sure to check local regulations for waste handling of electrical devices. Your machine contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled. Leave it at a waste collection point. Packaging is made of recyclable materials.

GETTING STARTED

  • lnsert the power socket into a power outlet.

  • Fill water tank with cold water.

  • Place the drip tray in the appropriate height for your cup size.
    It is possible to detach the drip tray and lay it flat at the bottom surface underneath the nozzle for larger cups or macchiato glasses.

  • Switch the machine ON by flipping the toggle switch up.
    Both cup size buttons will start blinking to indicate that the machine is warming up. The machine is ready to use when the lights stops blinking and stays on.

  • Run 4-6 cups of water before your first brew.

  • Drop a coffee capsule in the capsule inlet on top and pull the capsule lever inlet down.

  • Press the small cup button for an expresso (40 ml).

  • Press the large cup button for a lungo (100 ml).

  • Lift the capsule inlet lever up each and every time a brew is complete to make the used capsule drop down into the capsule container.

  • It is not recommended to fill the water tank with hot water. Keep in mind the Max/ Min volume levels.

DEAIRING THE MACHINE

When your new machine arrives, it would have been completely drained of water and you will need to deair it. You will notice this when you have filled the water tank, but no water comes out when it’s supposed to start brewing. The machine will also make the same noise it does when performing a normal brewing procedure.

To run water through the machine, follow the steps below:

  • Turn on the machine.
  • Fill up the water tank.
  • Have the capsule inlet lever in its upright position. Push it slightly further back towards the back of the machine until you hear a sound.
  • Run a cup of water through the machine before brewing a cup of coffee by pressing either the small cup or the large cup button. Your machine is deaired when water comes out of the nozzle.

TO-DOs BEFORE EACH USE

  • Make sure the water tank is filled.
  • Turn the machine ON.
  • Wait until the machine is preheated.
  • Press either of the cup size buttons to run water through the machine.
  • Follow the remaining standard steps for brewing coffee under GETTING STARTED.

CHANGING THE BREW RATIO / CUP SIZING

Press and hold either of the two cup size buttons until the machine has outputted your desired amount of coffee. The memory function on each button will remember your set preferences for next time.

RESETTING THE ORIGINAL BREW RATIOS / CUP SIZINGS

  • Turn the machine OFF.
  • Press and hold the large cup button and turn the machine ON while still pressing the button.
  • Power Save mode activates after 10 minutes of non-use.
  • To exit Power Save mode, press any button or switch OFF and ON.

DAILY MAINTENANCE

  • Turn the machine OFF.
  • Empty the capsule container and the drip tray.
  • Empty and rinse the water tank.

CLEANING

Use a damp cloth with mild, non-abrasive cleaning agents.

AIRING THE MACHINE

  • Switch OFF the machine.
  • Pull the capsule inlet lever down (without a capsule)
  • Push either of the cup size buttons.
  • As soon as water starts pouring out, remove the water tank.
  • Once the water stops pouring, the airing of the machine is complete.

DESCALING

  • Carefully read the use and safety instructions on the descaling package.
  • Be careful when handling the descaling solution near the machine as it could harm the machine’s surface.
  • Do not use vinegar!3

THE DESCALING ALARM

After 1200 uses (brewing coffee and water), the descaling alarm is triggered every time the machine is switched on. When you turn the power switch on, the LED indicators of the cup size buttons will be flashing at a frequency of 5x/second, stopping for 1 second, and loops. The machine will then start preheating and can be used normally. The alarm can only be reset when the user operates the descaling process.

THE DESCALING PROCESS

  • Make sure that the water tank is filled with at least 0.5 litres of water.
  • Make sure that the capsule inlet is empty.
  • Empty the capsule container and the drip tray.
  • Let water run through the machine (without a capsule).
  • Add the descaling solution to the water tank.
  • Place a receptacle underneath the nozzle.
  • Press and hold both cup size buttons for 2 seconds.
  • Let the descaling solution run through the machine for a second time.
  • Fill the water tank with fresh water.
  • Run 6-8 cups of water through to make sure the machine is free of any descaling solution residue.

TROUBLESHOOTING

THE LIGHTS WON’T TURN ON

  • The machine has switched off automatically
  • Toggle the ON/OFF switch.
  • Check the condition of the power cord, the voltage, and the fuse.

NO COFFEE/WATER IS COMING OUT OF THE MACHINE

  • Check the water tank. If empty, fill with fresh water.
  • Lift the coffee inlet lever.
  • Press either of the cup size buttons and wait until water pours out.

THE COFFEE ISN’T HOT ENOUGH

  • Preheat the coffee cup with hot water. Descale the machine if necessary.

THE CAPSULE INLET DOESN’T CLOSE COMPLETELY

  • Empty the capsule container.
  • Check that there is no capsule jammed inside the machine.

THE MACHINE IS LEAKING AND THE COFFEE DOESN’T POUR OUT AS USUAL

  • Check that the water tank is properly mounted.

THE LIGHTS ARE BLINKING IRREGULARLY

  • Check the water tank. If empty, fill with fresh water.
  • Replace a new capsule.
  • Exit descaling procedure.
  • Power Save activates after 10 minutes of non-use.

NO COFFEE COMES OUT, ONLY WATER

  • Make sure an unused capsule is placed in the coffee inlet.
