Product Information

The STEPTOP is a linear motion type electric actuator launched by M-System. It is powered by a stepping motor and is designed to achieve carbon neutrality. The actuator comes with an auto-setup function as a standard feature and Modbus communication as standard equipment. It is compact, high-torque, and has a high-resolution exceeding 1/1000. The STEPTOP does not require an air source, making it zero emission equipment that can contribute to carbon neutrality.

Product Usage Instructions

The STEPTOP electric actuator is designed to control the opening angle of a valve. The actuator comes with a fully automated opening adjustment feature, allowing you to adjust the opening angle with ease. Here are the step-by-step instructions to use the STEPTOP electric actuator:

  1. Connect the STEPTOP electric actuator to your PLC/PC network directly.
  2. The stem will go up to the fully open position.
  3. The stem will go down to the fully closed position.
  4. The seal spring will be further compressed, and setup will be completed.
  5. The opening control function by analog signal is also standard. The operation signal is 4-20mA DC, and the opening signal is 4-20mA DC.
  6. You can easily set various parameters from the DIP switches in the terminal box or from the programming unit (PU-2A) connected to the modular jack without opening the cover of the STEPTOP main body.
  7. The terminal box is independent of the main unit, making wiring work easier.
  8. The terminal box cover is made of strong, transparent polycarbonate, and the LEDs for operating status indication can b from the outside.

It is important to note that the STEPTOP electric actuator is designed to operate with a thrust of 100-2500N and a stroke of 10-40mm. The operation time will depend on the thrust and the distance the output stem needs to travel. Please refer to the operation time chart in the product manual for more information

Modbus is a communication protocol developed by Modicon (Currently known as Schneider Electric) for PLCs. Modbus is an open network whose specifications are open to the public worldwide, and is widely used in the fields of FA and PA.

All control circuits are housed in a terminal box

Easy parameter setting
Various parameters can be set from the DIP switches in the terminal box or from the programming unit (PU-2A) connected to the modular jack without opening the cover of the STEPTOP main body. In addition, parameters can also be set from a PC using the configurator software (Model: STCFG). (*2)
The configurator software (Model: STCFG) can be downloaded for free from the M-System Web site.
