Instructions for use

These instructions are written based on our current state of knowledge. Information is provided without any guarantee as to its accuracy. Subject to technical modifications.

The order of assembly steps must be followed.

Touratech accepts no liability for incorrectly fitted parts and resulting material damage or personal injury!

Please observe applicable road vehicle (construction and use) regulations as well as EC/ECE Directives and applicable laws in your country. If parts are fitted which require inspection and/or approval after fitting, take your vehicle to a testing station immediately and have the vehicle papers updated.

Check and if necessary tighten all bolted connections after 50 km.
Standard tightening torques in Nm for bolted connections with strength class 8.8.
For special tightening torques refer to your specialist workshop!

Please take into account that fitting panniers, crash bars, foot peg lowering kits (rider and pillion),Kickstand enlargment plate, front spoilers and engine guards may restrict the bike’s lean angle!

If modifications are made to the fairing, stem, handlebar, fairing parts, etc., ensure that electrical wiring, brake lines, accelerator and clutch cables are refitted correctly. Check clearance, both sides with full steering lock.

Always disconnect the battery when working on the electrics!

We recommend cutting protective film to size and applying it to impact areas that are likely to be chipped by stones.

Work on the brake system and suspension should always be carried out by a specialist workshop.

The maximum load on luggage racks is 5 kg! Luggage racks Zega Pro TC is 10 kg!
If other original accessories or aftermarket accessories are used, ensure clearance1 fitment and do not come into contact with other parts!
Apply conventional lubricant to stainless steel bolts prior to assembly.

1x Spacer long (D=25mm)
1x Spacer short (D=25mm)
1 x Countersunk screw M8x25
2x Domehead screw M8x12
3x Countersunk screw M6x16
2x Domehead screw M6x16
1x Countersunk screw M6x10
4x self locking nylock nut M6
2x Wave wascher M8
4x Washer M8 small
4x Washer M6 small
Mounting Material only for Models since May 2007:
1x Spacer short (D=22mm)
1x Spacer long (D=22mm)
1x Countersunk screw M6x20

Attention: important tips, explanations Read instructions before starting – installation is different on bikes manufactured

  1. Remove first the original BMW motor guard and exchange the original rubber-metal bolts with the ones supplied in the package. Be careful not to tear the stock bolts!

  2. Attach the sump guard rear support as shown on the second photo with the two rubberized pipe clamps using the M6x16 domehead screws, M6 washers and M6 nylock nuts.

  3. Attach the alum. sump guard as follows:
    A: 2 x countersunk screw M6x16, M6 washer and M6 Nylock nut
    B: 2 x domehead screw M8x12 with 1 x wave washer M8 and 1 x washer M8 small at each screw
    C: 1 x countersunk screw M8x25 with long spacer
    D: 1 x countersunk screw M6x10
    (NOTE: short spacer will be needed only if installed with motor guard reinforcement 044-0300)

Installation on models produced

Follow the instruction points 1 and 2 on first page.
At photos 3+4, use the longer spacer with counter sunk screw M8x25 at position C. Use the shorter spacer with counter sunk screw M6x20 at position D. See photo 5.

Tighten the M8 screw to max 17Nm and M6 screw to max 7Nm torque.

USE THREAD LOCKING COMPOUND SUCH AS LOCTITE WITH THESE SCREWS!

Check all modified parts before your first ride and then in regular intervals.
