EMERSON 605 Series 2 Wire Proportional Valve
DESCRIPTION
The 2-wire series 605 proportional valves is a compact, electro-pneumatic
pressure regulator which converts an electrical signal into pneumatic pressure
(E/P transducer). It is particularly suited for precise pressure regulation
due to its integrated control loop with electronic pressure feedback The
electrical connection uses 2-wire technology. The valve is intrinsically safe
according to ATEX. The pressure regulator is fitted with a piezo proportional
pilot and downstream pressure and flow amplifier. The proportional valve is
operated with a correspondingly associated electrical apparatus. Its explosion
protection corresponds to Ex ia IIC T4 Ga, Ex ia IIIC T135°C Da Ingress
protection: IP65. The valve is designed for use in zones 0,1 and 2 for gases
and vapors and zones 20, 21, and 22 for dust.
EC type-examination certificate no.: IBExU07ATEX1014 X
Ex marking:
- q II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
- q II 1D Ex ia IIIC T135°C Da
- -20°C ≤ Ta ≤ +60°C
ASSEMBLY / CONNECTION
Pneumatic connection:
The pneumatic connection is threaded.
- Supply pressure
- Pressure outlet
- Exhaust (with integrated protection or threaded connection, according to version used).
Recommendations for pneumatic connection:
Tightness is to be ensured by using cylindrical screws with matching flat
seals or conical screws as well as a sealing compound. Apply sealing compound
sparingly. Do not use Teflon sealing tape or hemp as they may get inside the
valve and damage it. To ensure maximum performance, the diameter of the
pneumatic lines and connections must be adjusted to the nominal diameter of
the valve. The supply pressure must always be less than the maximum inlet
pressure (MAP) and must be 0.5 bar above the maximum outlet pressure. Use a
sufficiently filtered air supply (50 µm, free of condensates). Install filter
as close as possible to the valve.
Specific Conditions of use:
- It must be ensured that the valve is only used for control for non-flammable media.
- The device must be installed and protected against impact and friction sparks.
Electrical connection:
The valves are provided with a 4-pin connector. The connection is made with a
4-pin connector size 15 – CM6 (Pg7P). The connector is included in the scope
of delivery. To ensure IP65 protection and provide for adequate strain relief,
use a 2-wire cable diameter 4-6 mm.
Connections:
- + SETPOINT (4…20mA)
- – SETPOINT
- and 4 not used.
Electrical connections must be made by qualified personnel according to applicable explosion protection requirements. Before any work is done, turn off the electrical power supply to remove power from all components. All connecting terminals and the connector’s cable gland must be properly tightened. Do not remove the cover or the plug on the valve during operation.
Analog setpoint:
The valve is supplied with a current setpoint of 4…20mA.
Factory settings:
The valves are factory set as follows: Outlet pressure 0 bar at a setpoint of
4 mA. Maximum outlet pressure at a setpoint of 20 mA.
Safety parameters:
- Max. voltage: Ui = 30 V
- Max. current: Ii = 120 mA
- Max. power: Pi = 650 mW
- Max. inductance: Li = 0 µH
- Max. capacitance: Ci = 0 µF
The supply unit’s category is required to be category “ia” when using the component in zone 0. Category “ib” is sufficient for all other zones. Do not exceed maximum ambient temperatures.
MAINTENANCE
PULSTRONIC valves with piezo proportional control generally do not require any maintenance. If problems arise during installation, maintenance or operation, please contact ASCO Numatics GmbH or one of its official representatives. The product complies with Directives 2014/30/EU and 2014/34/EU. A declaration of conformity is available on request.
