OVERVIEW
OPENING HAPPINESS
STEP 1
Place the box in an upright position. You can identify the upright position of
the box by checking the ‘this side up’ sign placed at the side of the box with
directional arrows. Gently open the box with the help of a box cutter or a
pair of scissors.
STEP 2
The e-bike is packaged to avoid getting scratches and damage. Once you open
the box, remove the e-bike parts carefully. To do so, hold the e-bike at the
stem and the top tube and lift it vertically. Place it gently on the ground
away from the packaging in an upright position.
STEP 3
Apart from the main body of the e-bike, you will find smaller boxes that
contain supplementary components such as the charger, pedal set, and tool kit.
Remove them as well.
STEP 4
The front wheel comes separately with the e-bike, connected together with the
help of a zip tie to the frame. It is packaged so as to protect the mechanical
brake and the tyre from damage. To remove the front wheel from the frame,
carefully cut the zip tie attachment and put it away. After that, ensure that
you remove the protective wrapping on the wheel before you start installing it
on the e-bike.
STEP 5
Look for any zip ties that may still be attached to the wheel. Cut them
carefully and ensure that you do not damage the e-bike while doing so.
STEP 6
Keep the e-bike in an upright position and remove all the packaging. After
that, you can start assembling the product.

ASSEMBLING THE E-BIKE
WHERE TO FIND THE IGNITION KEYS
The ignition key comes attached to the frame with the help of a zip tie placed
next to the bottom tube and the inverted handlebar. Cut the zip tie carefully
to release the key and keep it separately till the e-bike is not completely
assembled.
Note: In the packet containing the ignition key, you also get an extra ignition lock which can be used for replacement later.
MOUNTING THE HANDLEBAR
- The e-bike is packaged with the stem bracket facing the opposite side. Before mounting the handlebar, you have to get the stem bracket to face outwards. To do so, first stand at the head of the cycle and then loosen the two screws at the joint of the headset with the 5mm Allen Key.
- Next, turn the stem cap outwards carefully. You must rotate the stem cap 180 degrees anticlockwise and align it properly.
- Remove the four screws on the top bracket with the 4mm allen key and remove the stem cap.
- Place the handlebar in the now opened stem cap carefully. Further, make sure the cables are all untangled and come from ahead of the front fork so as to not obstruct the movement once the front tyre is mounted.
- Align the grooves of the handlebar onto the stem. Then reattach the stem cover and tighten the screws in a clockwise direction. Ensure that the screws fit smoothly into the groove without any coarseness when tightened to avoid thread damage.
- Push the front light & horn cables inside the port located at the top of the down tube. Gather the throttle cable & the two side brake sensor cables and tie them up with the help of two cable ties.
ASSEMBLING THE REFLECTORS
Slide the reflector bracket in the groove provided at the back of the
reflector. Then slide the reflector bracket up the seat post stem. Tighten the
screw on the reflector bracket once it is placed at the correct position using
the Cross Slot screwdriver.
Follow the same steps to assemble the front reflector, place it on the
handlebar, and tighten the screw using the screwdriver.
MOUNTING THE SEAT POST
Open the quick-release clamp on the seat tube and insert the seat post.
Finally, close the quick-release lever by pressing it towards the frame.
Note: You have the freedom to adjust the saddle position with the help of
the lever right below the saddle.
MOUNTING THE FRONT TYRE
-
Place the e-bike frame upside down on a soft surface. This ensures that no part of the e-bike is damaged during assembly. Take the front tyre that was detached earlier and get rid of any other packaging paper and zip ties that may be left on.
-
Stand at the front hub of the upside-down e-bike with the disc brake on the left. When mounting the front tyre, make sure that the tyre fits smoothly.
Note: If the front wheel does not fit smoothly, you have to loosen the inside of the front brake calliper. -
Set the wheel in an upright position carefully and insert the fork brackets on its axle. Then, insert the front fork safety wheel lock washer (A1) in the groove of the front fork, followed by the disc washer (A2).
-
Ensure that the wheel is centred properly onto the frame, otherwise, it could disrupt the balance of the e-bike. Make sure that the disc brake is on the left-hand side of the bike.
-
Repeat for the other side. Insert bolts (B1) on both ends and tighten them on the axle by turning the 15mm socket on the combination spanner clockwise. Finally, ensure that the wheel is secured tightly to the frame.
MOUNTING THE PEDALS
On the pedal, check for the marking that indicates the right and left pedals.
You will find attached stickers that indicate the same. To mount the pedals,
you have to screw the right pedal clockwise and for the left pedal, screw it
anticlockwise with the 15mm spanner.
LET’S GET STARTED
SWITCHING ON THE E-BIKE
BATTERY PLACEMENT
A removable battery comes with the e-bike. Gently remove it from packaging.
Before sliding the battery down over the controller, make sure the slots on
the battery are correctly inserted, and then fix it firmly (as shown in the
picture).
BATTERY KEY
Insert the key into the keyhole on the left side of the battery. Turn it
clockwise to secure the battery in its position.
BATTERY SWITCH
Press the switch button placed on the front end of the battery to ensure the
power supply is connected and working properly.
KEY IGNITION
Insert the key in the ignition switch located below the throttle on the
handlebar. Turn it to power on all electricals after which you will be ready
to ride your e-bike.
E-BIKE CARE
-
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY E-BIKE?
It is recommended to use a soft brush, wet cotton cloth or sponge on e-bikes rather than a hose or stream of water. Ideally, you should clean the e-bike after using it every time. However, you can wash it weekly. This will help prolong the life of the e-bike. -
WHICH CLEANING AGENT CAN I USE?
Bike shampoos and care products from specialist stores are highly recommended as they do not attack plastics and seals. Even soap solution or washing-up liquid can be used. They should however not be too aggressive or strongly degreasing. -
HOW REGULARLY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND CLEANING AN E-BIKE?
Ideally after every e-bike trip so that the dirt does not become ingrained, therefore, as often as possible or when necessary. You can dry wash the e-bike with a cotton rag or a microfibre cloth as this prevents corrosion. -
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF WATER RUNS INTO THE BATTERY MOUNT?
The mount is designed in such a way that water can drain off faster and the contacts can dry easily. To ensure that this happens, the mount and plug area should be kept clean. The contacts are provided with a coating which protects the surface against corrosion and wear. -
WHERE SHOULD I LUBRICATE THE CHAIN – AT THE FRONT SPROCKET OR AT THE REAR?
Neither of these. When applying lubricant, care must be taken that the brake discs are not contaminated or the sprocket gummed up. It is therefore best to spray where the chain runs freely. It is best to remove excess lube with a rag or soft cloth.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure you read this important safety information before you ride the e-bike:
- Familiarise yourself with the e-bike features and functions before taking it for a ride.
- Make sure to wear safety gear whenever you head out on the e-bike:
- A properly fitted helmet
- Reflective tape or accessories at night to be as visible as possible
- Tyre pump, tyre levers, patch kit, water or a sports drink
- Shatter-resistant protective eyewear
THE RECOMMENDED TYRE AIR PRESSURE FOR X1 IS 30-35 PSI (FRONT AND REAR)
BATTERY HANDLING AND CHARGING
Make sure you follow all the precautions while handling the battery:
- Ensure that the battery is kept away from children and pets
- Ensure you store the battery in a cool, dry place
- Avoid causing physical damage to the battery
- Use only the EMotorad provided charger or a spare/replacement supplied by an authorised dealer to charge the e-bike
- Ensure that the battery is secured to the frame before every ride
- It is recommended to not overcharge or undercharge the battery.
- Charge it for 4-5 hours only.
CAREFREE MONSOON
RIDE FREE IN THE RAIN
- Wipe the e-bike down regularly with a microfibre cloth
- Pay special attention to the chain links
- Check the brake pads for wear
- Wear waterproof but breathable clothing
- Ride slow and brake earlier
- Reduce the tyre pressure by 5 PSI accordingly to maintain better traction
- Watch out for slippery spots
- Secure yourself with reflective clothing for safer rides
- Neoprene shoe covers are the best to maintain the grip on pedals
- Wear orange, yellow protective lenses during low light levels to increase contrast
PIT STOP RULES
HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR RIDE
Maintain the tyre pressure at 30 PSI at least. If you see any discrepancy, do
take the e-bike to a mechanic and get the tyre pressure maintained to avoid
flat tyres and punctures.
Lubricate the chain regularly to avoid rough sounds from the chain and other
issues while switching gears.
We recommend that you service and carry out maintenance once in every 6 months
from an authorised service center. This is crucial to keep the e-bike
functioning properly.
A NOTE ON WEAR
Some components of your e-bike are subject to wear due to their function. This
is a natural part of using your e-bike. The rate of wear depends on the cycle
of care and maintenance of your e-bike as well as on the way of your usage.
Kilometres travelled, rides in the rain, dirt, and gravelly terrains all
affect the condition of your e-bike. If the e-bikes are left standing out in
the open often, they may be subject to increased wear through weathering.
Some components require regular care and maintenance. Nevertheless, sooner or later they will reach the end of their service life, depending on conditions and intensity of their use. Parts that have reached their limit of wear must be replaced.
This applies to the following parts:
- Chain
- Cables
- Grip coverings or bar tape
- Chain rings
- Sprockets
- Pulleys
- Gear cables
- Tyres
- Saddle covering (leather)
- Brake pads
The brake pads of disc brakes are subject to wear due to their function. If
you use your e-bike for high strain cycling like competitive events or in
hilly terrains frequently, they may have to be replaced sooner. Regularly
check the condition of the pads and have them replaced by a dealer when
required.
Note: Remember that the overall performance of your e-bike will be affected by
the condition of its specific components. Please ensure that you are not
straining any component excessively, carrying out regular maintenance checks
and adhering to the replacement suggestions provided in this manual. For any
doubts contact your dealer or any other expert immediately.
