ASSURED WIRELESS AW12-DE MegaMobile
Product Information: MegaMobile Installation
The AW12 MegaMobile unit is a vehicle-mounted device that allows for reliable communication and connectivity while on the go. It comes with a modem, USB to Ethernet converter, vehicle mounting bracket, necessary screws and washers, Ethernet cable, USB screw tight cable, DC power cable, SIM extractor tool, and requires additional GPS active/passive antenna, LTE antenna (need 3 leads), activated FirstNet micro SIM card, and a small Phillips head screwdriver. The modem and Ethernet converter are mounted on a bracket and connected to each other using a USB-C to USB-A cable and a short power cable.
Product Usage Instructions
- Ensure you have all the necessary equipment included in the package as mentioned in the product information section above. You will also need to purchase GPS active/passive antenna, LTE antenna (need 3 leads), activated FirstNet micro SIM card, and a small Phillips head screwdriver if not included in the package.
- If the SIM card is not already inserted by the distributor, locate the SIM card slot on the side of the AW12 modem. Remove the screw on the SIM slot door. Use the depression on the upper left corner of the SIM slot door to open the door. You should now see the edge of the silver SIM tray. Insert the included SIM extractor tool into the hole on the SIM tray; the tray should pop partway out. Remove the SIM tray completely. Insert your activated FirstNet SIM into the tray. Note that the tray is notched, so the card can only be inserted the correct way. Re-insert the SIM tray into its slot. Replace the SIM slot door and replace the screw, being careful not to overtighten.
- Mount the modem and Ethernet converter on the provided bracket using the included screws and washers. Put the antenna ports to the edge as shown. Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to securely mount them.
- Connect the USB-C to USB-A cable between the modem and the USB to Ethernet converter. Insert the cable with the USB C connector into the port labeled USB on the modem and tighten the thumb screws. Be careful not to overtighten. Insert the USB-A end of the cable into the port on the USB to Ethernet converter labeled Modem and tighten the thumb screw. Do not overtighten. Connect the short power cable by inserting one end into the port labeled PWR IN on the modem and twisting to tighten. Insert the other end of the cable into the port on the USB to Ethernet converter labeled PWR OUT.
- Install the bracket in the vehicle with the proper hardware. Mount securely near the power source. Where and how you install the bracket will vary based on vehicle.
