IS IT LEGAL TO RIDE AN ELECTRIC SCOOTER IN AUSTRALIA
There are laws around the use of electric scooters in Australia and will vary
between the different states and territories. Although private use is allowed
in all, public use will vary and may even require licensing and registration.
Please review the laws for your state before purchasing and using an electric
scooter. Safety equipment is mandatory regardless of state, territory, or
public and private use.
We have included a handy reference guide for you that is correct as of
September 2021. The rules may have changed so a refresh of this information
may be required.
GET TO KNOW YOUR SCOOTER
LEARN HOW TO RIDE YOUR SCOOTER
-
Before riding please always wear a helmet, and other protective equipment such as knee and elbow pads.
-
To start put one foot over the accelerator switch on the deck of the scooter. Next push off with the other foot to start skating. The electric motor will engage once the assisted coasting speed reaches 4 kilometers per hour.
-
Place your other foot on the deck and maintain balance to coast at speeds up to 8 kilometers per hour.
-
Slow down by releasing your foot from the accelerator switch, pushing your foot down on the mechanical brake or a combination of both to stop quickly.
-
Turning can be done by shifting your weight, turning the handlebars or a combination of both.
-
To power off the scooter, bring it to a complete stop and step off the accelerator switch. Once the scooter has remained stationary for 10 seconds it will automatically turn off. To power on the scooter again, repeat steps 2 – 3.
SAFE RIDING
Failure to follow these instructions carefully could lead to property damage
or serious injury.
This electric scooter is designed for kids aged between 5 – 12 years, with a
maximum weight limit of 50kg. Adult supervision and protective equipment (such
as helmets and pads) are always required when riding.
-
Do not ride the scooter in the rain or during thunderstorms.
-
Limit your speed to when riding on bumpy surfaces, or tight areas. Bending your knees allows you greater control and cushioning during these scenarios.
-
The use of scooters is not recommended indoors but if doing so please be mindful of doorways, low hanging objects or people.
-
Monitor your speed when travelling downhill and utilize both brake mechanisms to adjust your speed.
-
Avoid steep inclines of more than 5°.
-
Avoid hitting any objects with the tyres, wheels, or any part of the scooter.
-
Do not place heavy objects on the handlebars as this can cause the scooter to tip forward and will affect your balance.
-
Always ride the scooter with both feet on the deck and avoid riding with only 1 foot once the assisted motor has engaged.
-
Avoid riding with one hand. Under no circumstances should you take both your hands of the handlebars while riding.
-
Do not ride on public roads, motorways, highways, or through tunnels.
-
Avoid sudden movements with the handlebars during high speeds.
-
Do not ride the scooter through water obstacles such as puddles. Always go around and if required stop and carry the scooter.
-
The scooter is designed for use by only one person at a time. Under no circumstances should you carry a child while riding.
-
Do not ride up or down stairs. Do not try and jump the scooter over obstacles.
-
After riding, do not touch any underside parts of the scooter such as tyres, wheels, or brakes as they may be hot.
-
If the pole light is red, this is a low battery warning. Stop riding immediately and charge the scooter. Continued use could put stress on the motor and damage the components.
-
Stop riding if you hear any strange noises, feel bumpy operation or friction. Check for any unwanted objects or damage.
PRODUCT ASSEMBLY
-
Connect the plug of the LED to the handlebar pole, then the LED wire to the base as shown.
-
Turn the screw of the wire pipe clamp to face the rear of the scooter, then insert the pole into the front fork as shown.

MAINTENANCE
To ensure you get the best possible performance and experience from your electric scooter, it is important to do regular maintenance for important parts of the product.
- Battery maintenance
- Bearings, Screws, Brakes and Wheels
- Storage and Cleaning
Your electric scooter will require some maintenance so please read and familiarize yourself with this guide.
BATTERY MAINTENANCE
All batteries have a life cycle, and performance will decrease over time,
however here is some advice to maximize the life span of the battery.
Make sure that the battery is charged at regular intervals, even if you do not
use the electric scooter for a long time. This is to prevent damage to the
battery, caused by low voltage over an extended period.
Avoid draining the battery completely. It is best to charge while there is
still power in it. This will extend battery life. If the battery is constantly
depleted, it will damage the battery.
If riding the electric scooter in cold or very hot areas, the battery time can
be lower than when riding in temperatures from 15-25° Celsius. This is not a
failure of the batteries, but normal behavior.
Please note: Even a fully charged battery will run out of power if the
electric scooter is not used for a long period. Expect a fully charged battery
to keep power between 90 and 120 days in off mode, before it is fully
discharged. If only partially charged, this period is lower.
Please make sure the battery does not get above 50° Celsius, or below minus
10° Celsius for a long period. (e.g. don’t leave the electric scooter in a hot
car in summer, do not put battery into fire etc.) Low temperature (e.g.
subzero temperature) can damage the
battery cells.
Keep the Electric scooter away from open flame or other sources of heat to
prevent the battery from getting too hot. Also make sure not to leave the
electric scooter at freezing temperatures. Both heat and excessive cold can
cause the battery to discharge.
Only use original charger or an official replacement. If using other chargers,
this could cause damage to the product.
Do not overcharge and or fully discharge the battery.
Please make sure to charge the battery before it is completely out of power,
to avoid damaging the battery cells.
It is forbidden to disassemble battery package. This is only to be handled by
official service repair centers and professionals.
BEARINGS, SCREWS, BRAKES AND WHEELS
Your electric scooter is made up of moving parts, which in time, will be
susceptible to wear and tear.
The electric scooter has sealed and dustproof bearings so that no lubrication
is required. Check the bearings for wear at regular intervals to avoid unsafe
riding. Do not jump on and off and do not apply excessive force to avoid
damage to the bearings.
This is not a sports electric scooter.
Make sure that all screws are properly tightened to avoid unsafe situations.
Please check the screws regularly and tighten if they seem loose.
Brakes:
Check the brake for wear at regular intervals to avoid unsafe riding. Do not
apply excessive force to avoid damage to the brake.
Wheels:
Check the wheels for wear at regular intervals to avoid unsafe riding.
If the wheel seems wobbly even after screws are tightened, the bearings might
be worn down and need replacement
STORAGE AND CLEANING
If your Electric scooter gets dirty, please clean it with a damp cloth only,
you may not use pressured water gun or running water, as this could damage
vital parts. It is also possible to use a little toothpaste if the dirt is
stuck. Remember to clean with damp cloth after this.
Please make sure to keep the electric scooter turned off while cleaning it,
and make sure to cover the charging input to avoid problems with the
electronics.
Make sure to dry the scooter with a towel, should it become wet.
Warning: Do not use alcohol, gas, kerosene or other corrosive and
volatile chemical solvents. This can damage both the appearance and the
internal structure of the electric scooter.
Please store your Electric scooter in a dry and cool environment when not in
use. Avoid leaving it outdoors, as it is not made for storing in wet areas.
Nor is it good to expose to high temperatures caused by direct sun for a long
time.
