ORLab Setup Quick Reference Guide

The ORLab is a medical device used for ablation procedures.
Below are the instructions for setting up and using the device:

Setup Instructions

  1. Plug the electrical cord into an outlet.
  2. Starting at the bottom of the ORLab, turn on the switches in the following order:
  3. Simulating Generator Unit.
  4. Next, turn on the printer.
  5. Turn on the AtriCure RF generators (refer to picture, 3 then
  6. Move to the front of the ORLab and plug in the foot pedal (located on the side of the ORLab) into the designated area (5) and place it next to the surgeon’s foot.
  7. Plug in ECG Slave Cable into the available ECG outlet (located behind the perfusion pump) (6).
  8. Press the button to turn the computer to the ON position (7).
  9. Press the button to turn the touch screen to the ON position (8).
  10. Plug in AtriCure Clamp or Pen into the corresponding port (9) and toggle the switch to desired Bipolar Clamp or Pen position until the green light is lighted above the handpiece (10).

Ablation Cycle Instructions

  1. Ask the surgeon to press the foot pedal when ready to Ablate.
  2. The ablation cycle will change tones every ten seconds.
  3. The ablation cycle is finished when the tone goes a steady beep and transmurality light flashes in the front of the generator.

Shut Down Process

  1. Disconnect Clamps/Pens from the generator.
  2. Switch off each individual unit starting at step 8 and working back to step 1 (as stated above in the process).
  3. Disconnect the ECG cable and stow it onto ORLab.
  4. Disconnect the foot pedal and stow onto ORLab.
  5. Unplug from the wall and store.
  6. Note: The surgeon should then stop pressing the foot pedal.

  3. “2” Next, turn on the printer.
  4. Turn on the AtriCure RF generators, (refer to picture, “3” then “4”).
  5. Now move to the front of the ORLab and plug in the foot pedal (located on the side of the ORLab) into the designated area (“5”) and place it next to the surgeon’s foot.
  6. Plug in ECG Slave Cable into the available ECG outlet (located behind the perfusion pump) (“6”).
  7. Press the button to turn the “computer” to the “ON” position (“7”).
  8. Press the button to turn the “touch screen” to the “ON” position (“8”).
  9. Plugin AtriCure Clamp or Pen into the corresponding port (“9”) and toggle the switch to desired Bipolar Clamp or Pen position until the green light is lighted above hand piece (“10”).

Ablation Cycle

  1. Ask the surgeon to press the foot pedal when ready to “Ablate”.

  2. The ablation cycle will change tones every ten seconds.

  3. The ablation cycle is finished when the tone goes a “steady beep” and transmurality light flashes in front of the generator.
    NOTE: The surgeon should then stop pressing the foot pedal.

  4. Repeat steps 1-3 as needed for respective handpieces and additional ablations.

  5. To switch to other hand pieces, switch toggle the “Black” switch to desired Bipolar Clamp or Pen position until the green light is lighted above hand piece connection.

Shut Down Process

  1. Disconnect Clamps/Pens from the generator.
  2. Switch off each individual unit starting at step 8 and working back to step 1 (as stated above in the process).
  3. Disconnect the ECG cable and stow it onto ORLab.
  4. Disconnect the foot pedal and stow onto ORLab.
  5. Unplug from the wall and store.
