VoxiVision Reader Label Recorder

Product Information

The VoxiVision is a reading machine that allows users to read documents hands- free. It comes with a foldable stand made up of a wooden support, a vertical foot, and a metal plate with a QR code. The device has a VoxiVision button that triggers voice recognition when placed on the wooden stand. It also has a navigation bar with three buttons for controlling the device, and a USB Type-C port for charging the device’s battery.

Product Usage Instructions

First Steps

1. Unbox the VoxiVision and check that the following items are included: VoxiVision, foldable stand, USB Type-C port, and user manual.
2. To unfold the support, grasp the metal tray and follow the instructions provided in the user manual.
3. To connect the VoxiVision button, press the speech recognition button on the right edge of the device, say “button,” go to the Pair VoxiVision Button menu, and follow the instructions.

On/Off and Navigation

1. To turn off the VoxiVision, say “turn off.”
2. To put the device to sleep, make two successive presses on the on/off button or say “standby.” To wake it up, press the power button once.
3. To return to the previous screen, tap the screen with two fingers. Use the navigation bar to perform all manipulations of the VoxiVision.

Voice Commands

1. Press the speech recognition button to initiate a voice command.
2. Say “battery” to know the status of the battery.
3. Say “pause” or “play” to pause or resume playback.
4. Say “previous” to go back to the previous sentence.
5. Say “save” to save the document.

Reading Machine

1. Autoplay: Place the document on the stand and use your hands to trigger certain actions such as setting summary reading, going back to the previous phrase, or saving the document.
2. Manual Playback: Press the middle button in the navigation bar to start text recognition. Press with one finger anywhere on the screen to start or resume playback. The navigation bar changes when reading text.
   Note: For more information on voice commands and other features, refer to Chapter 8 of the user manual.

Chat once you see this symbol in the manual, it will indicate that there is a voice command associated with an action

VoxiVision

Foldable stand
The foldable support consists of 3 elements: the wooden support on which the VoxiVision will be placed, the vertical foot (equipped with a rotating stop) and the metal plate (with a QR Code) on which the document will be placed.

Steps to unfold the support

1. Grasp the metal tray
   • Remove it from the wooden support: resistance is exerted at this time
   • Rotate it 3/4 turn, until it no longer moves (you will then feel a click)
2. Grab the wooden support
   Rotate it 3/4 turn, until it no longer moves

Choosethe metal top and wooden support , facing you. To perfectly wedge a document, you can lower the stop that is at the bottom of the vertical foot on the right side.

VoxiVision button
The VoxiVision button allows you to trigger voice recognition (connected via Bluetooth) when the VoxiVision is placed on the wooden stand.

To connect the button, press the speech recognition button, located on the right edge of the device, and say “button”. Then go to the “Pair VoxiVision Button” menu, then follow the instructions.

On/ Off
To turn on your VoxiVision, long press the Power button until you feel a vibration. The device takes less than a minute to fully boot. The Power button is locatednext to the right slice below the volume keys. If the VoxiVision does not turn on, remember to charge it.
At each startup, the VoxiVision launches directly into Machine To Read mode (and not on the home screen).
To turn off your VoxiVision, long press the Power button. You will then have a confirmation screen asking if you want to turn off.

Sleep / Wake Up
To put to sleep, make 2 successive presses sur the on / off button.
By default, VoxiVision goes to sleep after 2 minutes of inactivity (time can be modified in the Advanced Settings).

SAY

To wake from sleep mode, press the Power button 1 time.

Navigation
To return to the previous screen, tap the screen with 2 fingers.

At the bottom of the screen of your VoxiVision, is the navigation bar on which are present 3 buttons (in hollow identifiable using the finger guide). With the help of these 3 buttons, you can perform all the manipulations of your VoxiVision.

Depending on the screen, the appearance and functions of the 3 buttons may change.

Voice commands
You also have the option to control your device by voice through voice commands (see Chapter 8). To initiate a voice command, press the Speech Recognition button, located on the right edge of your VoxiVision. Once you hear a beep sound (an animation with a flashing microphone starts), you can speak. Speech recognition stops as soon as you stop talking.

Load
To charge your VoxiVision, connect the AC charger to the USB Type-C port of your VoxiVision (located on the bottom edge, in the middle). When the battery drops below 20%, you will have a notification on the home screen. To knowthe battery level at all times, use speech recognition.

READING MACHINE

Autoplay (with support )
This function allows you to listen to a document very simply: put your document down and the reading starts automatically.
Go to the Reading Machine section. Put your VoxiVision on the wooden tray, as soon as you hear “AutoPlay enabled”, you can then position your document on the metal tray.
Autoplay will start instantly. In order to allow you to position your documents correctly, AutoPlay only starts if no hands are detected on top of the document.
VoxiVision is able to detect and read documents in their original language (see supported languages at the end of the manual).
To stop playback, remove the document from the media tray. The VoxiVision is then ready for the next autoplay.

Controls during playback
While the document is being read, you can use your hands to trigger certain actions.

Or via voice commands:

SAY
“pause” / ” play” : pause or resume playback
“Previous: previous sentence
“ save “: save the document

Manual playback (without support)
The VoxiVision can also be used without the support held in your hand.
To start text recognition, press the middle button in the navigation bar.

Playback will start automatically.
To start or resume playback, press with one finger anywhere on the screen.
The navigation bar changes when reading text.

Advanced options (translator and smart extraction)
The Reading Machine offers advanced features that are not enabled by default. To enable them, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Machine Reading Advanced Features and choose Enable. Only available during manual playback. The middle button offers in this configuration to access the options.

The options allow you to:

• Save: Save to Gallery (Text Recognition folder)
• Translate: Translation possible vers 10 languages
• Intelligent extraction: Automatic detection of phone numbers, postal address, email address present in the result of text recognition. Only appears if results are detected.

Peel
When reading manually, allows you to spell a word being read. This function is only available via voice control.

MULTI-PAGE

Multi-page mode allows you to extract text from multiple documents in a row and save them in a single document.
By default, this topic is hidden on the Home screen. To make it visible, go to Settings > Advanced Settings Home screen: Personalization.

Go to the Multi-pages section. Place your VoxiVision on the wooden tray, as soon as you hear “Multi-page mode enabled”, you can then position your document on the metal tray. The document will be automatically detected and the analysis of this first page will start. In order to allow you to position your documents correctly, processing only starts if no hands are detected above the document. Once the operation is complete, a message will tell you to position a new document or save. To position a new document, check out your current document and positiona new document. The scan will be started again automatically and take a few seconds. This allows you to repeat the operation up to the limit of 50 pages. To save, you have 2 options:

• Via a gesture: Position your right fist closed above your document
• Via voice command: Say “save”

If no activity is detected after 2 minutes, the current document is automatically saved.
The document will be saved in the Gallery, Text Recognition folder with the name “multipages” followed by a number.

MAGNIFYING GLASS

The magnifying glass can be used in portrait or landscape mode.

You can zoom in using the right or left buttons.

Image freeze
To freeze the image, press the middle button represented by a camera. Once the image is frozen, you can enlarge/ collapse it (right and left buttons) and move within that image (with a finger on the screen). Or directly by pinching the screen with 2 fingers. You can also start text extraction via the voicecommand e.

SAY
” read”: extractthe text from the image (available only if image frozen)

To save the image, press the middle button. The image will be saved in the Gallery, Images folder.
To exit the gel mode, perform thee geste Return (press with 2 fingers on the clipan).

Filters
By pressing the volume s buttons on the right edge of the VoxiVision, you can change the filter (before or after freezing the image). In addition to the natural color, you have the choice between 6 different filters:

• White text on a black background
• Black text on a white background
• Yellow text on a black background
• Black text on a yellow background
• Yellow text on a blue background
• Blue text on a yellow background

By default, the last filter used is saved. At that time, the filters will be in the following order: your saved filter, natural color and then the list of other filters.
You can customize the list of filters offered in the advanced settings (Settings > Advanced settings > Magnifier Customization filters).

GALLERY

The gallery allows you to view the text files saved from the Reading Machine or Multi-pages and the images saved from the Magnifier.

Text File (Text Recognition folder)
The files are categorized from newest to oldest. Selectz the file you want to view from the list.
Once the text is on the screen, the navigation bar changes.

The options allow you to:

• Rename (with voice input)
• Delete
• Translate (if Advanced Features Reading Machine enabled)
• Intelligent extraction (if Reading machine Advanced functions enabled): Automatic detection of phone numbers, postal address, email address present in the result of text recognition. Only appears if results are detected.

Multi-page text
Texts saved from Multi-page mode (filename starting with multipages) offer advanced functions, not available for simple text files:

• Resume reading: Allows you to start reading and resume, during the next consultation, at the place where you left off.
• Page-by-page navigation: A long press on the up or down arrows takes you to the previous or next page.

Translations
Ifyou have saved at least one translation, the Translation folder (present at the root of Gallery) will be visible in the gallery.

Image file (Images folder)
Images are categorized from newest to oldest. Select the image you want to view from the list.
Once the image is on the screen, the navigation bar changes.

The options allow you to:

• Extract the text (ability to save and translate this text)
• Rename (with voice input)
• Delete

OTHER FUNCTIONS

Dictaphone

Create a new record
To create a new record, select “Create New Record”. Recording starts automatically.
While recording, you have the option to pause the dictaphone by pressing with one finger anywhere on the screen. After a 2-minute break, the recording is automatically saved. To restart recording, pressz again anywhere on the screen.

To finish a recording, pressz on the middle button. Maximum duration of each recording: 90 minutes.

Access recordings
The set of records, ranked from the most recent to the oldest, is then listed. Once the recording is chosen on the screen, the navigation bar changes.

Pause/Play: Press with one finger anywhere on the screen.

Options

• Rename (with voice input)
• Delete

Barcode reader

Usage
By default, this topic is hidden on the Home screen. To make it visible, go to Settings > Advanced settings Home screen: customizable.

The barcode reader allows you to scan everyday products (food, medicines, hygiene and beauty products…) and to identify them very easily. Position your VoxiVision at least 10 cm above your product. Present the different sides of your product until you feel a vibration indicating that a barcode has been detected.

Use with media ( scanmode nette)
For added comfort, the VoxiVision can be used with the stand. Place the VoxiVision on the wooden stand, the QR code on the bottom tray should be visible. After a few seconds, you will hear “Scan modenette enabled”.
Then pass your products under the VoxiVision. As soon as a barcode is identified, the information will be read and displayed (the screen then turns to you).

Barcode customization
This option allows you to voice customize the information in a barcode.
To enable this option, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Customizable Barcode Reader n. Once the result of a barcode is announced,press the middle Button Options and choose Personalization. The voice recording will then start.
During the next scan of the barcode, you will then hear the information from our database completed by the voice recording.
By pressing the middle button (Trash icon), you can erase your custom recording.

Manually adding barcodes
This option allows you to add your own barcodes in case of an unknown barcode.
To enable this option, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Personalization Barcode Reader.
If a product is unknown, you will have a new “Unknown Barcode” screen. Press the middle button to start voice recording.
The next time you scan the barcode, you will hear your voice recording.
By pressing the middle button (Trash icon), you can erase your recording.

Updating the database
To check if a barcode database update is available, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Barcode Reader: Database Update.
You must be connected to the Internet (see Chapter 7 – Settings then Connections).

Label player/recorder
By default, this topic is hidden on the Home screen. To make it visible, go to Settings > Advanced Settings Home screen: Personalization.

The reader-label recorder allows you to voice label a product using the provided labels (x50). These labels are cold and water resistant and are infinitely reusable.

Label registration
Take one of the labels from the label board, then pass your VoxiVision over the label (be careful to position your device at least 10 cm from the label).
As soon as the label is detected, you will feel a vibration. Launchz and then stop z your voice recording by pressing the Microphone button in the middle.
The maximum duration of each recording: 1 minute.

Label reading
If you pass your VoxiVision over an already registered label, you will feel a vibration and the associated recording will be automatic int read.
To listen to the label again, press with one finger on the screen.

The options allow you to:

• Delete

Ticket detector
By default, this topic is hidden on the Home screen. To make it visible, go to Settings > Advanced Settings Home screen: Personalization.

Position a banknote in front of the VoxiVision, its value will be instantly displayed wholesale on the screen and announced vocally.
The detector offers in addition to the Euro, 6 currencies: Ldrunk Sterling, Dollar US, Canadian Dollar, Franc suisse, Swedish Krona and Danish Krone.
To change currency, press the middle button.
The last selected currency is kept in memory for future uses.

Connecting to a computer
You have the option to connect your VoxiVision to a computer. Connect the supplied USB Type-C cable between the USB Type-C port on your VoxiVision (located on the bottom edge in the middle) and the USB port on your computer.

Note that your VoxiVision should be turned on and not in standby.
Once plugged in (your device will be called VoxiVision on your computer), you will then have access to the contents of your VoxiVision’s Internal Storage. Open the Voxivision folder.

• Texts : Ocr folder (file in txt format)
• Translations : Translation file (file in txt format)
• Images : Images folder (file in jpg format)
• Dictaphone recording : Voice-recorder folder (mp3 file)
• Custom barcodes : Barcode folder (mp3 file)
• Voice tags : Labels folder (mp3 file)
  On Mac, you must first download a program called Android File Transfer (https://www.android.com/filetransfer) to perform the link.

SETTINGS

All the settings below can be accessed from the Settings section.

Accessibility
Your VoxiVision fully adapts to you.

Contrast
Choice of 6 contrasts: White text on a black background, Black text on a white background, Yellow text on a black background, Black text on a yellow background, Yellow text on a blue background, Blue text on a yellow background

Text size
Choice of 6 sizes: Normal (x1), Medium (x1.5), Large (x2), Very grand (x2.5), Very very large (x3.5), Huge (x5)

Text spacing
Choice of 3 sizes: Normal, Espacé, Very spaced

Voice synthesis
Choice from 4 voices (3 female and 1 male).
Ability to disable /enable text-to-speech.

Playback speed (text-to-speech)
Choice of 6 speeds: x0.5, x0.75, x1, x1.25, x1.5, x2

Other parameters

Luminosity
Permet to adjust the brightness level (between 1 and 8).
Note that the complete deactivation of the screen is not possible.

Screen orientation
Portrait or Landscape.

Automatic lighting

Your VoxiVision benefits from a low light sensor that corrects brightness automatically in a dark environment. However, this may not be enough, and lighting may be necessary.
To turn on auto lighting, go to Settings > Advanced settings > Auto lighting and choose Turn on. In case of low light in your environment, the lighting will then turn on automatically (not available in the Magnifier). However, you can manually activate the lighting via voice control.

Connections

Wi-Fi
By default, Wi-Fi is disabled. To use Wi-Fi, choose the “Turn on Wi-Fi” menu. To connect to a new network, you have 2 options:

• Via a Wi-Fi QR code (often stuck to the back of your Internet box): Choisisse the menu “Scan a QR code” and pass your VoxiVision in front of the QR code. The connection will be established automatically.
•  Via the list of available Wi-Fi networks: Choose the “Available networks” menu and then select the desired network from the list. Then enter the Wi-Fi key (using the T9 keyboard), then validate. If the Wi-Fi key is correct, the connection will be established automatically.

To reconnectto an already registered network, go to the “Available networks” section, select the network name (indicated by “(registered)” after the network name) and then choose “Connect to the network”. To delete a network, go tothe “Available networks” section, select the name of the network and then choose “Forget the network”.

Bluetooth
By default, Bluetooth is enabled.
To connect the VoxiVision button, refer to Chapitre 1 – Getting Started.
If you want to add a new Bluetooth audio device, choose “Pair a new audio device “. Your VoxiVision will then scan all Bluetooth devices (audio device only) available around you; the operation takes about 20 seconds. Then select the device name to finalize the pairing.

Devices that have already been connected at least once are listed. By selecting the name of a device, you have the option to connect, disconnect (if already connected) or unlink it.

Updates
You must be connected to the Internet to check for updates.
If an update is available, you will then have a new “Update available” section on the home screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update.

Enhanced functionality (if connected to the Internet)
The VoxiVision works entirely without an internet connection. However, an active Internet connection makes it possible to enrich certain functions :

• Text recognition: Better detection of texts present in a graphic document and handwriting recognition.
• Barcode reader: Database containing several tens of millions of references and consultation of complete leaflets for medicines.

Supported languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese.
Translator languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai.
