And then you can use the machine as a grass shear. Your grass shear will work at its best if you observe the following instructions:

  • The area to be cut should first be cleared of stones and other solid objects.
  • Simply push the shear on its guide wheels over the ground. This ensures a constant even cutting height.
  • The best cutting results are obtained with dry grass.
  • When cutting power drops considerably, recharge the battery immediately to prevent battery cells from becoming completely empty.
  • Do not move the grass shear against the grass until the switch is pressed, i.e. wait until the shear is running.

Working with a hedge trimmer
Change the cutter blade into the trimming blade.
And then you can use the machine as a hedge trimmer.

  • A hedge trimmer can be used to cut shrubs and bushes as well as hedges.
  • To obtain the best cutting results, hold the hedge trimmer so that the cutter teeth are at an angle of approx. 15° in relation to the hedge. (A24)
  • The twin-bladed cutters rotate in opposite directions, thus enabling cutting in both directions. (A25)
  • It is recommended to tie a guideline of string or the like along the hedge so that you cut the hedge to a level height. Cut o˜ all be inches which protrude beyond the guideline. (A26)
  • Cut the sides of the hedge with curve-shaped movements from the bottom up. (A27)

Working with the reciprocating saw
Change the cutter blade into the saw set. And then you can use the machine as a reciprocating saw.

  • Firmly locate the supporting frame (a) at the branch before cutting the branch with the running saw blade. The supporting frame serves as the center of rotation. Continue the cutting process with some pressure applied to the machine, slightly pulling back the saw at the same time. Locate the supporting frame at a lower position and lift the rear handle again. (A28)

  • Pull out the saw from the branch only with the saw blade running. This is to avoid jamming.

  • Be aware of branches that are under tension. Do not cut suspended branches from below.

  • Be aware of falling branches.

  • The saw may kick back if the blade tip unintentionally touches trees or other solid objects. The saw will be thrown toward the operator in an uncontrolled manner. (Risk of
    injury!)

  • Cut the lower branches of the tree ÿrst. In this way, cut branches can fall more easily.

  • After having completed the cutting process, the saw will suddenly fall o˜ as the sa w is no longer supported by the branch. There is a risk of losing control of the saw.

Cutting minor branches (A29)

  • Apply the supporting frame of the saw to the branch. This avoids jerky movements of the saw when starting to cut.
  • Move the saw from the top downwards through the branch applying some pressure.

Cutting major and longer branches (A30)
Make a relief cut when cutting major branches.

  • First, cut 1/3 of the branch diameter with the saw bar from the bottom to the top (a).
  • Then cut with the saw towards the ÿrst cut from the top to the bottom (b).

Cut longer branches in sections in order to become aware of the spot where they hit the ground.
Cutting branches which is under tension (A31A32)
Cutting branch which is under tension requires particular attention! The branch which is under tension and from which tension is released by cutting sometimes reacts in an uncontrolled manner. This may result in severe injury.
A31: upper side of a branch under tension.
Risk: branch is thrown upwards!
A32: lower side of a branch under tension.
Risk: branch is thrown downwards!
Follow the instructions for cutting. Only trained specialists are allowed to carry out such work.
If the upper side of the branch is under tension, as shown in ÿgure A31, you must ÿrst cut 1/3 of the trunk diameter from the lower side, and then cut the rest of the branch from the upper side at the level of the lower cut.
If the lower side of the branch is under tension, as shown in ÿgure A32, you must ÿrst cut 1/3 of the trunk diameter from the upper side, and then cut 2/3 from the lower side at the level of the uppercut.
Pole-mounted pruner/saw precautionary measures

  1. Observe your surroundings, always remove the fallen branches before cutting, and always keep the working area clean before operation.

  2. Always keep the bystanders at least 15 m away from the working area, especially for children.

  3. Always wear a helmet, ear protection, and safety gloves when working with the pole-mounted pruner. Also, wear eye protection to keep oil spray and sawdust out of your eyes.

  4. Wear a dust mask to protect against dust.

  5. Do not wear loose clothing, jewelry, or short pants while operating.

  6. Do not overreach. Always keep firm footing and balance during operation; always use the provided harness to distribute the load evenly on your body.

  7. Wear sturdy boots to protect yourself from slipping.

  8. Keep your eyes not only on the branches you are cutting, but also keep eye on the ground to prevent tripping over branches that already have fallen.

  9. Keep a period of rest for at least 30 minutes after one hour’s operation; otherwise, you are getting too tired to control the pruner.

  10. Do not use the machine if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any machine that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

  11. Do not stand under the branch you are cutting. Branches may fall without warning. Also, beware of the risk of being struck by those that rebound after hitting the ground. Work at an angle of no more than 60°. (A33)

  12. When using the pole-mounted pruner, never stand on a ladder or any other kind of unstable pedestal. (A34)

  13. Hold the saw with both hands during the operation. Apply firm and pole-mounted pruner during the cutting process.
Never apply force in order to cut through the branches.

  14. Never use the pole-mounted pruner to cut branches with a diameter that is larger than the length of the cutting blade.

  15. Do not use the pole-mounted pruner in the vicinity of cables and power or telephone lines. Keep a minimum distance of 10 meters to all power lines. (A35)

  16. Always use the carrying strap and hold the saw with both hands with the handles provided. Close your fingers and your thumb around the handles and the pole. (A36)
