DIMANGO AR170 Clamp On Slide Dimmer
Product Information: Clamp -On Slide Dimmer AR170
Congratulations on your purchase of the Clamp-On Slide Dimmer AR170. This product is designed to allow you to adjust the brightness of your incandescent or halogen lamps with a maximum rating of 300 watts. The product is compatible with 120V AC, 60Hz and should only be used on SPT-2 lamp cords. The dimmer is equipped with a red pilot light that illuminates when the dimmer is off so that it can be easily found in a dark room.
Product Usage Instructions
Before installing the Clamp-On Slide Dimmer AR170, make sure that the lamp switch is on. Also, unplug the lamp from the electrical receptacle and leave it unplugged until installation is complete.
- Locate where you want to position the dimmer along the length of the lamp cord.
- Use a wire cutter to cut the lamp cord at the desired location.
- Open the clamp-on slide dimmer housing by pulling open the plunger on the large prong neutral side.
- Insert about 3/4 of the cut lamp cord into the slots in each end of the dimmer housing. The lamp cord should firmly bottom out in the end of the dimmer housing slot. Refer to the illustration for proper positioning of dimmer housing and cord, making sure plungers are to the left and neutral side of cord is to the right.
- Push the cord plungers back into the dimmer housing until they bottom out.
- Plug the lamp cord plug back into the electrical receptacle.
- Slide dimmer button to brighten or dim the lamp.
- To turn the lamp completely off, slide the dimmer button to the end of the slide track.
Note that this product is for one-time installation only. Do not use this dimmer with another dimmer in the same circuit. To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not install to control a receptacle, a motor-operated appliance, a fluorescent light fixture, or a transformer supplied appliance. If you encounter any issues with the product or if it fails due to a manufacturing defect during normal use, please return the product to the store where purchased for replacement OR send the product to Lamson Home Products at 25701 Science Park Drive Cleveland, OH 44122 USA. All requests for replacement must include a dated sales receipt (copies accepted) and the guarantee statement. Note: This product is for use only with incandescent or halogen bulbs having a maximum rating of 300 watts. 120V AC , 60Hz. Use only on SPT-2 lamp cords.
INSTALLATION
- Make sure the lamp switch is on.
- Caution: Unplug lamp from electrical receptacle and leave unplugged until installation is complete.
- Locate where the dimmer will be positioned along the length of the SPT-2 lamp cord. Do not use with Type TPT or SPT-1 lamp cord.
- At this location on the lamp cord, use wire cutters to cut straight across the cord. Caution: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not strip wires—cut off end of cord cleanly.
- On the back of the dimmer, lift and extend the two cord plungers out of the back of the dimmer case.
- Examine the lamp plug to see if it is polarized (one prong larger than the other prong). If so, position the lamp cord so that the side of the cord going to the larger plug prong (neutral side) is on the right side as shown in the figure. The neutral side of the lamp cord usually has a raised rib on the insulation.
- Insert about 3/4˝ of the cut lamp cord into the slots in each end of the dimmer housing. The lamp cord should firmly bottom out in the end of the dimmer housing slot. Note: Refer to the illustration for proper positioning of dimmer housing and cord, making sure plungers are to the left and neutral side of cord is to the right.
- Push the cord plungers back into the dimmer housing until they bottom out.
- Plug the lamp cord plug back into the electrical receptacle.
- Slide dimmer button to brighten or dim the lamp.
- To turn lamp completely off, slide the dimmer button to the end of the slide track.
Note: The red pilot light illuminates when the dimmer is off so that it can be easily found in a dark room.
Note : This product is for one time installation only.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Dimmer does not work.
- Make sure lamp is plugged in.
- Check that lamp is turned on.
- Replace bulb.
Caution : Do not use this dimmer with another dimmer in the same circuit.
